After I heard SHUM by Go_A, I was instantly reminded of this. They both took folk music and added their own modern twist to it (Poland gave it a rock-like theme, whilst Ukraine went with electro), both of which resulted in absolute masterpieces. It baffles me that Ukraine's song was loved by many because of it's traditional themes, but this didn't even _qualify_ for the finale.
I'm sorry to say this but... Ukraine was benefited because they were Ukraine, same thing happened (and happens) with Sweden. Not that it was undeserved, Shum is my second favorite this year, but I'm pretty sure that this one didn't qualify because Poland doesn't have "Ukraine's reputation" when it comes to Eurovision.
Maybe people were not ready, but now they are. Maybe now they are finally sick of bland American-Swedish pop songs in English. The top 5 with non English language entries and a quite unorthodox one in between might be an indicator we might have a new trend. I really hope we do, and more countries will follow Tulia, Go_A and Bulgaria 2007 with their Water entry.
Honestly, this song loses to Go_A in staging and the song department. But I still like it a lot and I would've been happy if it qualified. I've loved contemporary takes on folk for a while now, I'll definitely be following Tulia.

Dumna jestem z tego występu. Zawsze wspieram polskich artystów, ale Tulię wspierałam podwójnie. Tradycyjne i folkowe słowiańskie śpiewanie jest unikalne i piękne.
każdy ma swój gust, dla mnie piosenka nie jest zła, ale nie przepadam za folkołem (czy jak to się tam pisze, jak coś nie tak to mnie poprawcie xd) ani tradycyjnych czy słowiańskich, poprostu nie przepadam, osobiście wole pisoenki pop, czyli Roxie, Viki itp. no i jeszcze pisoenki Duy Lipy ale od roku 2019+ piosenki

I'm listening to this right now and I think the problem with Tulia is bland musical background. Vocals are fine, I just can't stand those generic sounds while Go_A was more unique in that regard. I'm polish, so it's not like I'm hating just because. I really wished this one was better, but it's geeeneric. Their voices are wasted thanks to the dull guitar.

Still, what happened to this song was “unfair”, I believe that people didn’t understand this one and others fell in love with Go_A because they are more charismatic maybe? Anyway, I love both, and both songs deserved even better. People slept on this one.
Remember that Go_A was also undervalued by the juries. I do really think jury members (industry insiders) are biased against traditional songs as they want to associate with commercially interesting acts. Similarly they are biased against fun/humorous acts, like Denmark in 2021 or Spain in 2019, because a serious professional needs to show he's serious about his craft. The background music works fine for me as well by the way.
@@moon_fake luckily after all the "Swedish bops" flopped this year in the televote, also with the fact that the top 6 of ESC2021 was entirely authentic and not with song bought from the Swedish supermarket, my hope is that many people would come closer to their original music

The current situation between Israeli government and Polish government isn't great. That could be a reason why some people didn't want Poland to qualify. People never get to see the reasons why a country doesn't qualify to the finals.

I cannot understand how these girls with such cool vocal and music did not make it to the final? There is something wrong with Eurovision. I really believed in Poland. Happy about the other qualifiers, but Tulia brought something special here. Sad that the audience couldn't get it. Hope Poland gets its revenge next year♡

Fun fact: this song should have qualified for the grand final with 123 points but the Belarusian Vote was counted wrong causing Tulia to lose points giving Belarus the chance to qualify.

Najbardziej przykre jest to, że pozytywne komentarze są z innych krajów a negatywne w większości z Polski. Nie wstydzę się występu Tuli, zaśpiewały dobrze a miejsce nie jest istotne, bardziej boli że tacy Turcy potrafili przepchnąć San Marino a Polacy nie potrafili wesprzeć własnej reprezentantki.

People must be deaf: this was one of the best exhibitions of semi one in my opinion, Serhat was one of the worst ones. How in the hell that "say na na na" thing made it to the final and Pali Sie and Telemoveis didn't is a mistery... I'm Italian and I really hoped to see these two pieces of art in the grand final, but I won't be able because people doesn't know what quality is. Ps: Poland underrated every single fucking year! I'm from Asia and watched Eurovision the first time. I was wondering if it was an American party, until this unique and authentic song came, which presents personality and their culture. I was surprised, that many fast-food songs without character made it through, but this song did not. Actually, I think the most songs this night in English are boring and for me, they are not European. You have so many beautiful countries with diverse cultures and traditions. What a pity, we don't really see it in the most songs. what a pity, a song like this from Poland couldn't go to final. Where is the EURO VISION?
That's one of the reasons why I stopped watching ESC around a decade ago or so. It used to be like you described, but that started changing, watch some of the older uploads if you want to see songs more reflectiive of the different languages, cultures, ethnic people etc. watch the older Eurovisions.
Jak tak drugi raz to oglądam to nie widzę nigdzie w ich występie pomyłek. Zaśpiewały idealnie 👌 Ludziom się widać podobało, bo klaskali. Moim zdaniem cała wina leży po stronie wyglądu sceny, która dupy nie urwała. Bo jeżeli wokalista stoi w miejscu, to scena musi sama działać. Tak jak to było np w przypadku Serbi, gdzie wokalistka stała, ale scena robiła jej przepiękną aurę.

Yes and because of the chairperson of the Czech jury it didn't qualify because she filled in the ranking the wrong way, instead of putting the faviorite in first she put it at the bottom...

I think that all performances that showed the country's culture and traditional side are amazing

People must be deaf: this was one of the best exhibitions of semi one in my opinion, Serhat was one of the worst ones. How in the hell that "say na na na" thing made it to the final and Pali Sie and Telemoveis didn't is a mistery... I'm Italian and I really hoped to see these two pieces of art in the grand final, but I won't be able because people doesn't know what quality is.

I'm from Asia and watched Eurovision the first time. I was wondering if it was an American party, until this unique and authentic song came, which presents personality and their culture. I was surprised, that many fast-food songs without character made it through, but this song did not. Actually, I think the most songs this night in English are boring and for me, they are not European. You have so many beautiful countries with diverse cultures and traditions. What a pity, we don't really see it in the most songs. what a pity, a song like this from Poland couldn't go to final. Where is the EURO VISION?

Jak tak drugi raz to oglądam to nie widzę nigdzie w ich występie pomyłek. Zaśpiewały idealnie 👌 Ludziom się widać podobało, bo klaskali. Moim zdaniem cała wina leży po stronie wyglądu sceny, która dupy nie urwała. Bo jeżeli wokalista stoi w miejscu, to scena musi sama działać. Tak jak to było np w przypadku Serbi, gdzie wokalistka stała, ale scena robiła jej przepiękną aurę.

At first when I heard them start singing I was like wtf, and I've fell for their unique voice and clothes. Very nice and cool, shame it didn't qualify!
