broooo i'm mindblown... i never trust these videos online cause they never work for me... but i waited for 5 hours for anything to transfer from my old iphone (x) to my new one (14 pro) and it just kept buffering. and i got frustrated and tried this hack and it works!!!
If transfer update is stuck on estimating time remaining, I have a fix. You have to first transfer your phone with no data, I know it doesnt make sense. Then after your phone is able to be used and is a fresh iPhone, update the iphone to the newest software update. It will take a while. Then, reset the phone completely, but KEEP THE ESIM. There should be an option to keep it. Now when it is done resetting, start the setup process as normal and you should be able to transfer everything off the old phone to the new one. Worked for me 👍
Yeah I see now why it was getting stuck. My old phone was on 17.0.3 and the new i14 would only install 16.0. So I canceled everything and updated to 17.0.3 on new and now transfer worked

It should take you into the quick start process as usual with the latest IOS installed, with the transfer working correctly.

@@irishlj2645 I spent about 5 hours doing the same thing, nearly drop kicking the new phone out of the window before I worked it out how to do it. Mine was a 12 to a 14 plus. Had to follow the same process again the following day as my eldest is replacing his 8 with my old 12. Glad all worked out okay for you!

if you encounter this problem, here's what i did. dont bother transferring your iphone over and over again, if you fail the first time, just set your new iphone without transferring anything from your old iphone for one sole purpose: TO UPDATE TO THE LATEST IOS POSSIBLE. Which means, once the set up completed you just need to go to settings and check the software update. Make sure to update to the latest ios version possible on your new iphone. Once the update is complete, go to settings and erase your new iphone. Let your iphone be "clear" again, but the thing is: the ios version on your new iphone is updated (hence you shouldn't encounter the same problem again, hopefully) After erasing process is done, you can transfer your new old iphone to your new iphone as it should be. Yes, the normal way. Hope that helps cheers

I would recommend having your old iphone up to date with the latest iOS version then start the transfer.
