I appreciate you doing this! I just received this as a gift, so I have the box in front of me. Every photo on the box shows a picture of a wide-mouth bottle, like your Contigo. The list of compatible bottles is also ALL wide-mouth: Hydroflask, Camelbak, Klean Kanteen, and Nalgene. There is not a single mention of what that "standard mouth with male threads" could be used for. But wouldn't it be frustrating if you threw it away and, when the Apocalypse comes, you find a bottle and think, "Wait a second! I think this would have fit the Lifestraw lid I threw away!!" Haha!

That would be my luck! So glad this helped. Hope you find the right bottle.

The internal thread adapter could fit a metal Sigg or MSR water bottle. I only have MSR fuel bottles which appear to have a smaller diameter than what the adapter appears to be.

Nice info, thanks for toughing out the cold.
For me water is not a problem. I have a well that I made a simple pump for
that I found on RUclips years back. RUclips search pumps - EMAS .
A creek in back of the house that is spring feed.
    About ? 15 yr.s ago I bought a Berkey lite water filter.
About ? ten years ago I bought a aluminum " Kelly Kettle.
Then Kelly came out with Stainless steel version, eehhh , I
    had to have it. :-)
About four years ago I bought a few LifeStraws.
All Products have not been used and still in the boxes / wrappers.
    P. S , oh ya, pool shock, for many gallons of bleach . :-)
Good info on the LifeStraw adapter, thank you !

Sorry for the slow response but somehow this one slipped by. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I would love to invest in a Berkey one day, I've heard great things about them. But certainly having a well is the way to go!

The company took the time to print on the back of the packaging what bottles will work with it 🤦‍♂

And yet they labeled it “universal.” It’s just an experiment to see if there are other options. Don’t make too much of it.
