- A Short Animated Film produced while I attended Sheridan's School of Computer Animation. During the 8 month program we spent 4 months learning the fundamentals of Maya and the remaining 4 in production of our final short films. Starting without any real experience in 3D Software, this film represents how much one can learn and produce in such a time constraint. Each student conceived and produced their own original independent film and the same was True for this "SYMBIOSIS" film. All storyboarding, modeling, rigging, texturing, animating, rendering, compositing and dynamic effects were done by myself.
Inevitably some compromises had to be made in order to complete the film in the specified timeline but I was quite happy with the end result and had an excellent time during my 8 months.

So basically the little grub things get protection from the rock golem thing and the rock golem gets a meal by the predators that the small creatures attract, really is a symbiosis

I love how the rock-thing sort of unfolds from the background, then melts back into it. Dat camouflage.
I think it's not as much of camouflage as a simple effect of dormant life, like sponge or coral.

I played Spore a lot. It becomes repetitive after a while. You colonise, terraform, set defences and repeat. I was tryibg to make it interesting bu gathering creatures and mixibg them by making for example a Dino Planet, cataloging plants with similar characteristics but all in all, Spore was a wasted potential. How come the choices were so limited? You could have traits like: scavenger, cannibal, looter, corrupted (evil trader), warmonger, fanatic, etc. I would find those traits more interesting to chose. Also the Empires were just so lazy. They won't colonise other systems until they're met. How come only Grox are massive from a get go?
Seriously, I put mods in the game just to see when the dame crushes.

All body parts, physical traits and body shape are only cosmetic.
That's the sad truth about Spore. Same goes for buildings, vehicles and spaceships. Shapes, additions and colours doesn't matter, they will work.

It's actually the whole point of a symbiotic relationship. The carnivorous landscape rock, as you put it, offers a safe environment to the little green dudes while they, in turn, naturally attract small predators for the rock thing to feed upon.
But I will admit that your comment made me laugh as well ^_^

I think the little chameleon dude came out to lure out predators for a trap; so once the closest predator was eaten, they all could come out and begin grazing

Great teachers, facilities and classmates were certainly necessary but what really made it possible were all the lunches my Grandma made me while I was studying ;)

It's a interesting relationship, honestly. The little bug guys hang around the rock guy for protection, and in turn their presence attracts predators which become pray for the rock guy. He get's fed and they are kept safe; a win win.

I'm sure there are plenty of instances but I doubt and actual symbiotic relationship like this would sustain itself for a long what with one of them being hunted to luer food for the other
The lizard things don't even get anything out of this deal you might say protection but that would not really apply because it's camouflaged so that they can effectively be hunted near it so it doesn't scare anything off which would give them a reason to help

Alright, let's see where the actual symbiotic stuff is. I assume that Cambolesteus in the background is in a symbiotic relationship with the Grublings. The Cambolesteus protects the Grublings from predators and the Grublings probably lead predators to the Cambolesteus so he can eat 'em. That probably doesn't make any sense, but whatever.

The thing that was abt the green this looks like the Bacteria on lettuce
So basically, the Aphiderms (green guys) spend most of their lives living with Rubble Giants (tree things), the former of which attracts prey (predators like the Nuzzlepod- the elephant thing) for the giants, and the latter of which provides a habitat and protection for the Aphiderms. Unusual, but interesting. Mitchell Counsell should definitely expand on the creatures and their universe.
