it's so nice and refreshing to see a rookie/debutante with a one-handed backhand. GMP will be a player to watch

Agree, but it looks like a weakness. He didn't generate any power off of it and you can see he tries to run around the backhand half the time which won't work against higher quality opponents. Hope he improves it cause he definitely has a lot of potential.

Yes, but his backhand is bad.

The backhand looks weak tbh. We already criticise Tsitsipas for his backhand and Perricard’s looks much weaker, I’d say it’s even below Eubanks’.

Gio is a big guy. Big. HUGE. 2.03 meters. And he can MOVE. Never seen him before, but I have a feeling if he stays healthy, we're going to see a LOT more of him. Big serve, very linear backhand, and plenty of racket head speed on the forehand, equals a dangerous player on faster surfaces. Really looking forward to watching him improve over the next couple of years. Well done.

Saw him a little before, took bublik to three sets at the European open. Hits big, sometimes misses big, but it’s the game he believes in and if it gets better then it’ll overwhelm a lot of players, they’ll need to start making him uncomfortable a lot earlier in the point then they’re used to instead of constructing the point, as of right now against a lot of players this style seems to fall apart, and in best of 5 it’s even harder, but he’s only getting better

Watched almost every match of his since last RG, he has achieved serious improvement staying in the rallies along with forming a reliable serve that often gives him 25+ aces. He won back to back challengers last month on hard which is his best surface results wise. He lost a tight 3 setter at the 3rd round of AO quallies when he encountered another big server. His game not allowing much success on clay has forced him to avoid it for most of the year. He recently played some clay though and stands at a 4-2 record on challengers and 3-2 on ATP level (both losses coming from Barrere). His game is refreshing to watch in today's homogenized similar long-rally play so he is one of my favourites to watch.

He just got outplayed and this tournament means much more to Perricard than Sonego. I wouldn't say losing on purpose but you need to take into account that most players have tournament priorities. He just couldn't handle Perricard's serve.
