Walmart sends huge warning about US economy (people are broke)

  • Walmart reported quarterly earnings and showed 4% revenue growth. Which historically is a sign of a slowing economy, as more people go to Walmart because of discounted groceries.
    REVENTURE APP: www.reventure.app
Back in the mid-2000s Walmart's revenue grew every year during the housing bubble crash. Walmart is a countercyclical economic indicator that performs well when everyone else is performing worse.

I was shocked at how much cheaper grocery prices were at Walmart than Publix (and Dollar Tree). They're going to drive a lot of other stores out of business.
Is this a good or bad thing for the economy...?

Thats been the plan all along. Walmart & big stores put the small, local businesses out & as time goes by when they’ve crushed all the competition they jack the prices up & you have no other real options, & the Walmarts & Amazons control it all. ( sort of like VP’s communist “Price Control” plan).

Thats been the the plan all along. Walmarts and Amazons came into areas, slowly pushing the smaller businesses out and once they’ve crushed them, the Walmarts and Amazons & gov control it all, then jack up the prices higher than they’ve ever been. Our options become more & more limited & the ability of owning a small business becomes harder & harder, until your only option is a monopolized government run, one stop shopping. ( sort of like the VP’s communist “Price Control” plan).

Things are strange right now. The US dollar is becoming less valuable because of inflation, but it's getting stronger compared to other currencies and things like gold and property. People are turning to the dollar because they think it's safer. I'm worried about my retirement savings of about $420,000 losing value because of high inflation. Where else can we keep our money?

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

I work for Publix and they recently had an emergency meeting in Orlando calling in all managers, which rarely happens. Turns out revenue is down and leadership wants our focus to be on lows and out of stocks on the shelves, which has ALWAYS been a priority. Leadership is out of touch with our customers and don’t understand that people can’t afford to shop at Publix. Even the associates they work for the company will shop elsewhere. Walmart and Aldi are taking customers from us and they can’t seem to understand that people are struggling and need to stretch their dollar.

I shop Publix and WinDixie because I get to both stores with out a traffic light drama. like Publix for just about everything except for prices. Stores are clean and well stocked and customer service is very good. However, Publix is out of touch with reality. I shop WinDixie because I feel they have better prices. I shop Publix because of produce quality. Like shown in the video, I shop Target for eggs, milk and other things we need because they have better prices. Our Walmart competes with everybody. I generally find that Walmart is not significantly cheaper on most items for me to make a separate trip there.

My neighbor sold their house that is identical to the house I'm renting and sold it in less than 2 weeks for over $50k of what it was valued on Zillow. The next week I get a text from my landlord that they are going to sell the house, although in my State I can stay until my lease is done. So I have been looking for another place to rent as my lease is done at the end of November. I have been flabbergasted at the prices to rent a house. I thought the $1,400 I was paying was on the high side, ha! Right now I can't touch a house equal to this for less than $2,200 a month. A house for $1,400 is a 1 bedroom and lucky to have a garage. It's insanity!

Walmart has always been cheaper than most places, no surprise there. What is a surprise is a few years ago Walmart began to test a pricing scheme where a particular item, let's say their Great Value food storage bags, which comes in various counts like 25, 50, or 75 in a box... They must've figured out that most people buy the larger count boxes because they think they're saving money, and in the past that was true, but Walmart was and probably still is cashing in on this consumer phenomenon by increasing the price of the larger quantity boxes while the smaller quantities are cheaper, don't believe me next time you go to Walmart take the price of something and divide it by the ounces or quantity, then do the same for the larger and smaller ones. You might find a particular item is cheaper in the smaller size or quantity.

I don't understand why anyone is shopping at Whole Food's, Publix, etc. Most grocery stores need a reality check big time, especially Publix. Publix pricing is egregious. Last time I shopped there, we needed a few extra last minute items for a BBQ and it's a 2 minute drive versus 20 minutes to Aldi. Walked out of there $60 lighter, and all I got was some sodas, charcoal and produce. That would've been maybe $30 at Aldi.

Good point but you can't compare. That is a warehouse club. It is comparable to Sam's Club or BJs. By the way, Sam's Club is a lot cheaper than both Costco and BJs- especially Costco because there is a labor union there. BJs may have one too.

@@tubecontributor3206 I haven't check in Sam's club but last year I joined Costco and if you do the math, it's totally worth it vs Walmart. Only problem is that you have to buy everything in bulk. Even paying the membership it's still. Much cheaper. Also with the executive membership I get 2% back and with everything being so expensive these days I get back way more than the cost of the membership. However, I spend about 60$ per month on ground beef as part of homemade dog food. Natural Grocers is an organic store that sells a brand of hamburger titled Thousand Hills. It is grass fed from birth to slaughter. I could drive 50 miles to save one $ per pound, but I still don't trust those local ranchers to not feed GMO grain just prior to slaughter. And this morning, I called them asking why a channel called "Europe Europe" was taken off the package and they told me they shut down completely, went broke. Them as well as "Film and Arts". People might think this is nothing but add all the fast-food chains that are closing, car manufacturers like Jeep that are closing. We're literally living the end of the world.

Nope. We shop at Aldi and Lidl. When we lived in Miami, everyone I knew, even the rich folk, shopped at Aldi.

I hate shopping at Publix, but I would never buy meat at Wal mart. One reason Publix has expensive meat is because they have first choice and they get top quality. At least that’s what I heard. I only buy basic stuff from Walmart like olive oil, coffee, etc but buy most of groceries from Aldi.
From what I heard Publix also puts pressure on there produce suppliers but treat their staff fairly well. Aldi also treats the staff well. Wal mart puts their staff on food stamps.

True! I worked for both Walmart and Publix. Publix is a winner, if you can get on at Publix, take it, they actively promote from within and only associates can buy stock and they treat their employees well! Walmart does not care about you, they will push you until you are physically injured, then you are disposable. I have heard horror stories from people who were injured on job, and Walmart has gone WOKE! I feel sorry for anyone who works at Walmart!

@@sarahlockridge7879 I honestly cook basic stuff and eat chicken at my house which I buy from Aldi, but if I’m buying red meat to cook it’s something special and I would rather buy quality meat.
It’s just something I heard multiple times but it could be here say. I’m happy you’re alive.

@@sal7149 as a person in recovery, my sponsor has taught me to be open to new experiences. Perhaps exploring Walmart might be something you can try. I do know that my current hometown Walmart is 100% better than my previous town, so it can also depend on location.

Everyone in Florida knows Publix charges astronomical prices but we still go in it because it so clean. I actually go to Publix, Aldi and Walmart for different goods and pricing.

The cost of walmarts pricing is vast...they are known for wage theft, tax breaks and sending their rmplyees to government assistance. We pay for their low prices in other ways

We used to work for Walmart . . . a combined total of about twenty years. As much as possible, we AVOID shopping for food a Walmart. We have learned by experience that the stuff Walmart sells is not always the exact same thing you might get elsewhere. If you check the barcodes, which give you product information, you are likely to find that some producers and manufacturers of products actually make different versions of the same thing for Walmart and NOT Walmart stores. Produce, meats, canned products, clothing, and whatever else, it's the same. A lower quality version for Walmart and a higher quality version for the other stores. The simple answer is this; their "Great Value" brand isn't a great value.
