Adding Carboni and Blessing makes this more fresh. Haven't watched the full video yet, but as someone who was also not enthusiastic about their view on this movie, hope they bring some positivity.
The Raimi movies definitely have some sloppy moments but I kind of love the Power Rangers-level sillyness that makes his first two movies feel like a big, fun box of toys to play with. Spider-man 3 of course, is still unbearably bad but I love the memes.
Greg was the lone defender of the Raimi movies on the last session. He felt that SM2 was too low and Venom/ASM2 are way too high.

someone already mentioned it, but the first time around I ranked TASM 1 over the Raimi trilogy because IMO Tobey is a decent Peter but not a good Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield is probably a little too cool to be Peter, but I think he's a GREAT Spider-Man.
This is a totally fair point. ASM2 is a hot mess, but somehow managed to have some of the best in-suit Spider-man moments of any movie.
The scene where Garfield is poking his head into Rhino's truck and taunting him felt like a series of comic panels.
ASM 1 is still my favorite Spidey film by far. The tone, acting, chemistry between Andrew and Emma, and the fact that he looks and moves like a comics perfect Spider-man all make it truly Amazing to me. I like all the Spidey films, no doubt but ASM has yet to be beat.
The scene where Peter pulls off the Spidey mask and gives it to the kid hanging from the bridge in the SUV is the most perfectly executed epitome of Spider-man's character.
Carboni and Blessing are both really great additions to this. Both in perspectives and humour they brought.
yeah I think this is perfect when they bring in people so it's not just the same 4 guys talking for every in-review.
I just hope Blessing gets more then couple sentences in next video. Between Carboni and Nick debating most of the time, he barely got a word in.

Blade isn't a superhero. I love the first two and even parts of Trinity but Blade isn't a superhero, he's a comic book character that lives in a world of superheroes. I don't consider Punisher or Ghost Rider superheroes either for context.
Kevin's a f'n beast. That hit right between the upper arm and scapula and he still got up in less than 3 seconds. Looks like he hit his head too. Hope you're ok buddy!

Anytime Carboni is making content with KF, it becomes an instant classic.

So glad Anthony and Blessing were here for this. Had some great takes. Overall I think I like this movie more than most, especially as a fan of the 90's animated series, but I respect these renewed takes. That ranking is still wack though.

Having this happen is absolutely hysterical, Kev so glad you’re ok! Seeing Tim watch it, then Andy lose it was just great.
I haven't seen an In Review in a while, but damn, this is some really good Kinda Funny content. Anthony Carboni is a breath of fresh air and gets along with the rest really well. Hope he's around for the rest of this Rewatch series as well.

lol "you cant say that now" in reference to saying super man in a marvel movie, even though The Eternals has a superman reference in the trailers
I don't want to be the guy that says Greg needs to be on every podcast but this was one where I was initially sad he wouldn't be on, as he was the voice of reason in the original ranking. But then we got into it and saw you replaced him with Carboni as another voice of reason, and my worries proved unfounded. Appreciate the journalistic integrity
Yeah, it was sad to see Nick feel so differently about Spider-man 2 after a rewatch. But I shared in Greg's outrage over them wanting ASM2 above the first two Raimi movies. That was wild.
Not gonna lie, I'm really glad Kevin isn't on this. Maybe Nick and other people can actually make their points this time without someone constantly going "it sucks, it sucks, it sucks"

You can see it at the 2 hour mark that Blessing is like “why did i agree to this” cause he doesn’t really talk after that.
I’m with Carboni in this all the way. I’ll always love this movie and remember the excitement and hype when this came out. It’s a classic for me ❤️

Note after finishing: As a Spider-man super fan myself it was great having Carboni on who gets the golden age inspiration of the movie and loves it for what it is, a justice is being rectified lol.
Tobey is the better Peter, Andrew is the better Spider-man, Tom is a good middleground of both.

I TOTALLY forgot why people were upset with the rankings until I saw it again. I cannot stand the nostalgia argument for the Raimi films. Those films are PACKED with objectively great filmmaking, style, epic moments and heart that is missing from modern Spidey films. They’re classics at this point. Blame nostalgia if you want, but these films mean a lot to people for a reason. Why do you think the world is losing their minds over potentially seeing Tobey back?
The movies have their issues (like the iconic kissing in the rain scene followed a scene where MJ was almost sexually assaulted and she just gets over it VERY quickly), but sitting here and saying it’s all nostalgia is ridiculous.
This is an adaptation of Stan Lee/Steve Ditko Spidey, and it absolutely works. It’s the good kind of cheesy, extremely heartwarming, full of moments of great action with an absolutely ICONIC score. To this day, we’ve never gotten a more badass and serious action scene than the final showdown with Goblin. And 20 years later, the final swing still looks amazing and is as iconic as ever. This movie is awesome.

@@nicktiznado8492 100%. At least the first two Raimi movies feel like films, whereas much of MCU Spidey feels very made-by-committee and lacks style. Like, little to none of the action in those movies are memorable and it’s a shame because Tom Holland is great with what he’s given and would absolutely own it if given better material.

Dude, the fight with Goblin is honestly the best scene for me. The absence of music, the visceral sound design and crazy amount of PRACTICAL stunts involved keep it top tier 19 years later!
@@TheMightyMike692 exactly! I hate how most of modern Spidey is CG. Technology is only going to continue to improve, so effects will look more dated. Practical effects help movies feel and look more real. Raimi understood that a mix of practical and CG works best. It’s why his movies still look good decades later.

Oh good lord. Kevin's fall was the best segment of this video, especially after how much shit he got for falling in the office a few years back. I laughed so hard that I looked like Toby Maguire ugly crying. He reminds me of my dad, always hurting himself in comical ways but always OK, so didn't feel too too guilty having a laugh.

I maintain that this first one holds up the best of the Raimi trilogy.
I still have a soft spot for Alfred Molina but there's something special about watching Peter discover his powers for the first time.

People have to realize Peter Parker in his first CB issue wasn't meant to be a hero at all. He was meant to be a one off, scary but sympathetic villain that learns a lesson at the end. But people loved him so much that they brought him back as a superhero. If you look at it that way the beginning of this movie makes more sense for what they're going for

I’ve always loved that the colonel was so desperate to screw over Norman Osborne that he entertained Quest labs clearly terrible flight suit thing. The glider shits on that thing.
Going to be honest here. About a month ago I rewatched Spider-Man 1 and 2. I actually really like number 1 a whole lot more than number 2. I like that number one was about the hero and the villain. Number 2 was kind of just a Peter Parker movie. Kind of felt like Dr octopus was thrown in at the last moment for Peter to have a villain.
VERY glad Carboni is on the rewatch! I'm on his side all the way for these Raimi movies.
They aren't perfect and this first one isn't even top 3, but all 3 Raimi movies have some incredible storytelling and characterization, despite the issues.
I saw the length of this review before starting it and thought it was a review and ranking for every Spider-Man movie in this one video. Then 1 minute in, I realized the truth and laughed.
God damn, I didn't expect Carboni to go so hard in this episode. I knew he was the Star Wars guy but his Spider-Man knowledge absolutely made his episode of In Review!

1:52:39 My interpretation on this is that JJJ knows but doesn't say anything and that's partially why he never let's up on the idea of Spider-Man being a "menace". That doesn't 100% work in this universe but it's still a fun idea.
Haven't seen Carboni since he was on Rev3 Games with Adam Sessler, so it was cool to see him again. Really enjoying his break down of this movie so far!
Yeah these movies are definitely cheesy by today's standards, but they're still a fun watch if nothing else.
Speaking about the relationships in these movies. That's what I love about the amazing Spiderman franchise they nailed the relationship and chemistry between Gwen and Peter and they nailed Spiderman that's why I do prefer those movies over this trilogy.
