What or WHO is the Swamp? | Avatar: The Last Airbender

The Swamp from Avatar: The Last Airbender is a pretty mysterious place. And the Lion Turtles are pretty mysterious creatures!
In examining the Foggy Swamp we may inadvertently be answering: what happened to the Lion Turtles? Did they die and become a part of the earth, are they at the bottom of the sea, did they fly off into space to support the discworld on their back?
Who knows! But let's talk about it anyway.

I think the swamp is a spirit of time or relation ships because one of the major things the swamp person said is “time is an illusion ” and the swamp shows you people important to you no matter if their dead, if you just met them or even if you didn’t meet them yet
