I really wish I would’ve found this video last night. I had no idea how to get the CD drive tray back on the disk drive. Now I know. Thank you! Also, one thing this video did not do was add new lithium grease to the rails and gears of the CD drive. If your drive does not open properly, adding a few tabs of lithium, grease to everything to allow it to slide easier will do a world of difference!
Thanks man, the ribbon cable for the reset button on my unit had a tear and it wouldn't work and for the longest time i was never able to teardown the system. Recently I got a screwdriver that was able to grip the smaller screws a lot better and I got a lot further than I ever did before but when I got to the motherboard, I was stumped on how to get the white connector off. thanks for this video man i really care about my ps2 ive had it since i was 7 and ive played it for years but havent recently because i want to clean it and such and thanks to this i can :)
The PS2 is built like a tank, so the first time you pull it to bits can be a bit daunting. Go for it, give it a good clean and it'll give you reliable gaming for years.
Thanks, this was great, but I stopped at the fan part because that little shitty connector is freaking small and I don't wanna screw up my PS2. Anyways the optical reader part is what I wanted to see. Btw, that SCART connector and the amazing Loewe TV, you're doing it right Sir, respect.
+Spvcediver You shouldn't damage the fan connector when removing it, it's a tough little bugger. Yes RGB SCART is the only way to play retro games... and of course on a decent CRT with RGB input. For me even with the screws unscrewed it won't come apart luckily my problem fixed itself otherwise I wouldn't be able play it except for 1 game but basically the disc drive wouldn't open
Here’s a tip that works great if anyone is having the issue when you eject the disc tray and it vibrates and shakes and make that weird noise. Well here is a simple trick too fix that no disassembly required. Flip the console upside down open the disc tray on the underside of the disc tray you’ll see these plastic teeth you wanna go buy silicone grease and lightly put some grease on those plastic teeth. Once done work the disc tray in and out couple time you’ll notice now the tray comes out much smoother and silent plus it won’t shake or vibrate anymore. I don’t think it came greased from the factory but this trick seem too work nicely.
25:25.. U don't explain what the battery is for.. Y dose it need a battery. What's it for and should it be replaced. And if not could it hurt my console..?.
One more thing to say, but this time it's a question. instead of taking it apart if i just am getting dust out of the fan, could i lightly take a vacuum hose to the fan? Because a air can will only blow dust in.
@@blackquiverYeah, possibly, that's why you make sure you have some kind of ground or you don't create a charge. I carefully vacuum my intake and exhaust vents of my laptop too a few times each month to keep it clean, never had any static created. Hey. I need help regarding my PS2. I m facing this problem for the first time. It was working pretty well last month. I will list all problems. If there's any question regarding then please ask. Here's what issues I started facing: 1. There is no display. When I connect the PS2 and turn on the power button from the back. The reset button shows the red light. I then click on it and then the Green and Blue lights turn on. The fan at the back starts working. The disc tray is also working, but there is no display. 2. After clicking on reset multiple times it then starts to display but the start-up music is out of order. The sound gets hanged. The controller is working (i can enter to and go back from browser and system configuration ). If I click on the reset button again then there won't be any display again. Same issue. And if it displays (after resetting many times) and then when I insert any CD. Loading gets hanged, and if the game works out of the blue moon then there is no sound. Would be happy for the reply. Thanks.
