A friend is neglecting a hedgehog, so I'm picking the hedgehog up within a few weeks because if I dont he'll set it free in the wild to die, so I'm trying to cram in all the research all i can on them.
I'm glad I did pretty extensive research before going to my local pet store. They thought I was crazy for not using a tank, but my cage is much easier to clean and much bigger than what I could have had as a tank.
My little albino hedgehog was 3 months old but he passed away yesterday from constipation. 2 days before we took him to the vet and all they did was give us antibiotics. He was my first pet ever, and he was so young. I'm just glad I check on him before he passed and saw he was going. I help him in my arms as he passed, so I'm glad I was there for him.
I have wanted a hedgehog for about a year now. I have been watching your videos to find out more about them and how to care for them and now I know like everything I need about them. Thanks!
Megan Ruther i have a hedgehog i loooked everything up about them talked to hedgehog owners i got stuff for her started a petition befor i even saked my parents then they said could get her :)

I got a hedgehog yesterday!! She got a bit carsick during the ride but it is ok. All of your videos are so helpful, I've been watching them for quite some time and finally got my own baby 🤗
I’m filling an entire binder with things I’ve learned from your channel and I’m going to show it to my mom in a year. I really want a hedgehog but I want to be doing everything right and not being impulsive. Thank you for your help wise hedgehog owner. 🦔💕
I have my hedgehog in a long tote and I have a heating pad under it and its my 3rd day with him he was a rescue hedgehog and I gave him a bath and the water turned black cuz he was so dirty but he’s clean and in good care now❤️❤️
I'm glad you're confident enough to film yourself now, that shows a lot of progress with your self love. And you're very pretty, so you don't need to worry
A hedgehog was the perfect choice of pet for us because we're both graveyard shift workers! We see our little guy before shift, after shift, and on our days off, we're all up all night!
This was in perfect timing a was dumb enough to not do my research i bought a rat cage and a wheel that was for a hamster (no hedgehog lived in this) but I changed everything and my hedgehog Jupiter hes living his best life. Thank you
Sent my fiancee out for the bin, told him it needed to be 600 sq inches AT LEAST, he says “oh I got one bigger !!”. He brings it home, I trick it out, put everything in. Seems oddly small. Measure it. 459 sq ft 😑🤔🙄 thanks babe.
I'm in Shanghai China and my partner and I found a wild hedghog baby that's about 3 months old. They had a bunch of ticks and mites on 'em, poor thing, we have done the first vet visit and debugging, Jammy is doing great! I am cramming in research too, and I am literally watching your entire playlist on hedgehogs. It's super useful and I think you are beautiful and also funny, so thank you for sharing your hedgie knowledge!
I’m 25 and got my baby girl Ritalin today.. yes I named her the adhd drug because she’s nuts and runs around like an ADHD child. I love her so much she’s a Cinnamon Hedgie. She’s the sweetest and bonded to me immediately. Today we’ve gone to target and Starbucks and a few other places. She loves kids and dogs and other people. When I was 18 I adopted a hedgehog from a pet shop in Clear lake Texas and the hedgie was only maybe a month old. No belly hair and was smaller than my fingers. It didn’t make it. It took me 7 years to emotionally get over it. I got my baby from a hedgehog rescue and I’m so grateful. Love your videos so informative 🤍
I am so excited...today I finally get to pick up my baby! Been preparing for months and you've helped me learn so much about these animals, once again thank you for such knowledgeable and educational videos! ❤️
I'm doing research before we make the decision to purchase/adopt a hedgehog as a pet. Could you describe how to set up a bin cage with the heat lamp? I'm worried about something melting.
O My Glob as long as you have a thermostat connected, nothing will be melting ;) honestly get a thermostat anyways. Best advice I got from this channel! The bulbs get way hot. Keeps your hedgie at a perfect temp. 👍 goodluck!
I figured this tip out from a friend! If you already have a wire cage, and you’re having issues with heating or you hedgehogs climbing this could be an option for you! My friend cut pieces of fleece to match the sizes of the walls. She used 2 layers to make it thicker, and attached the fleece to inside of the back wall and the 2 side walls. Then she did the same for the front wall, but only did it halfway up so that it would still have some ventilation. It helped insult her cage, and I’m assuming it would prevent climbing as well! It might be cheaper than buying a whole new cage if you already have a wire one!
Thank you Tori! I love all of your hedgehog videos because their so informative and it's much better than the information online because its coming from a real person with real experience. Thank you for all that you do!
My hedgie Cornelius LOVES running, he could run for around 6 hours a night and after buying a comfort wheel, I regret it so much because of the noise. I will probably be buying the one you suggested soon because he wakes me up constantly
I’ve dreamed of owning a hedgehog for over a decade now and I’ve finally got myself into a position to make that happen! Now I’m doing a bunch of research before I get one and these videos have been extremely helpful thank you so much!
Since I live in Louisiana, it gets really hot (it was like 106 degrees the other day) but when winter comes it can go to negative temperatures were I live, and winter/fall is hunting season so we always have the hand warmers around the house (we have like a bucket full)
My parents said I can get a hedgehog if I prove to be responsible. I've watched so many of your video and they've helped so much! Thanks for making these. 💕💕💕💕💕
Doing some research on hedgehogs and I’m trying to figure out how to persuade my parents :/ I’ve had 3 guinea pigs before. And there’s a nice breeder in my area. :))
Hi Tori. Doing some research on my (hopefully) future Hoggo. I'm aware hedgies need to be kept at strict temperatures in their habitats. However, while I recognise certain temperatures could force them to attempt hibernation, I was wondering how long it would take between being out of their habitat and in lower temperatures for that to happen. For instance, were I to take my Hedgie out of his 23C home and play with him for, say, 3 hours in a 14C room, or letting him run around for a few hours, would he be okay with this? How many hours can he be comfortably away from his house safely?
Hi! I just adopted a 2 year old male hedgie. He’s a grumpy feisty boy. I’m learning from your videos. Is a nice fleece cage bedding better than wood shavings?
Do you recommend a c+c cage for a starter? I plan on basically covering the entire walls with coroplast. Also, I usually keep my house at 74, but my pet room tends to be a bit colder. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm nervous for my first pet lol (btw I already did a TON of research).
C&C cages can be great cages as long as the coroplast is high :) Definitely invest in a heat setup, C&C cages don't hold heat well enough to go without one.
Tori Lynn I live in Florida, we literally never drop below 55 Fahrenheit but our house stays 70+. It’s also in my pet room so my bearded dragon and geckos heat up the room a bit so I’m wondering if I really need heating? I’ll provide it if need be but rlly?
I know this is a late comment, but I thought it might be helpful. Recently I learned that Aspen bedding is not a good option for hedgies, at least where I live. Normally would use aspen bedding, but apparently most are inhabited by mites. Mites are little bugs that make your hedgehog itch, cause irritation and dry skin, and in my case, make their quills fall out. My vet said that about 95% or aspen bedding is inhabited by mites just for people's information.
I recently met a hedgehog breeder who gives her hedgehogs (unseasoned) scrambled eggs (without milk) and uses bigger plastic bins to house them. What are your thoughts on this?
Hi! I noticed on one of your videos that you have a white thing (cardboard maybe?) inside around your hedgehogs cage. Could you tell me why you have that? Just curious if I need it for my hedgehog as well. Love your videos by the way. Very informative and useful information!
This might sound dumb but i really need to know because our power goes out a lot in Texas, but how would you use the hand warmers for the hedgehogs?Because I really would like to know for safety purposes for my hedgehog.Thankyou💕!
Ava Riley wrap it in something like a cloth or a hand warmer holder and then u can use it next to her. Just don’t put it directly next to her without anything on it xx
I recently went with my mother to check out a new school, and while the principal gave us a tour, she showed us a room with lots of reptiles and class pets, but they had a hedgehog there because the children wouldn’t take care of it… I offered to take him and I’m researching about them to make sure I have all I need because otherwise the poor thing may be put in a shelter ❤
I’m planning on getting a hedgehog soon and I will be using a bin cage and fleece how should I go about getting the fleece to stay at the bottom and not bundle up or come undone?
This was so helpful I was thinking about getting a hedgehog but after watching these I realized a hamster which was my second option would be MUCH better for me
I was wanting to get a Midwest and sort of take out all ramps and make two floors and put in bins for bedding etc for two desperate hedgies, but here in winter it gets super cold and I always have a fan in my room since I over heat a lot lol. Would there be a way for me to work around the cold and wire cages? Or I guess my question is: will a c & c cage work better? I’ll probably end up ordering a c and c cage. I’ve heard of putting heat lamps then heat pads under he bedding / tunnels/ fleece. And putting hits etc. would this work in a cold room?
In Utah, the summers are really hot, and the winters are cold, but all in all my house is pretty warm, and I have already ordered a wire cage, because I am getting my hedgehog in a few weeks. I plan to set up the heating a bit early, so I can get a good feel of how it works before I get my hedgehog. Was a wire cage a good choice? Sorry for the questions. :/
I know it wasn’t on this video but you suggested using Humilac spray to moisturize our hedgehogs but they don’t sell it anymore. What do you use/suggest now? Also if it’s not a spray how do you apply it? Could you make an updated video? Thanks so much!!
Thank you for posting all these helpful videos.😁 I’ve watched all the ones on hedgehogs before getting a hedgehog 🦔 Your videos are sooooo helpful😁😁😁😁😁 (btw I love your hair❤️)
I will say to anyone considering a hedgehog...HEATING IS ESSENTIAL. My hedgehogs cage was heated but the bulb went out when I was at school and by the time I got home he was hibernating. After lots of time on a heating pad and fork feeding him a scrambled egg, he did come back. Be careful because not everyone is so lucky!!!!!
I am thinking about getting a hedgehog and I was wondering what your thoughts on wheel covers are. I keep seeing them everywhere and they look like a real lifesaver when it comes to cleaning the wheel but I'm not quite sure if they are a good choice or not.
Whimsewcool has closed, so who else would you recommend for fleece items? Thank you for making these videos as they are so informational! I am getting my first hedgie after 2 years of waiting. He is 4 mos. old and albino. So any special advice for this lil guy? Thanks!
I haven’t bought new fleece in a really long time, but I would search Etsy and just read shop reviews before purchasing to see if they’re a good shop or not :) As far as albinos go, their care is the same as other APH’s.
im really set on wanting a hedgehog, I live in Nevada. so its always pretty toasty, Ive owned rodents my whole life but my most recent hamster passed last year and we still have all her stuff that she didnt get to use as she passed just as we got it. we got a HUMONGOUS bin for her that is moveable. im so glad we didnt use it so if I do get a hedgehog they dont smell her. im so in love with hedgehogs rn. thank you for all the tips!
I am getting my hedgehog the day after tomorrow. I live in a warm climate so we turn the heat up in our 2 months of semi winter to 23 celcius and in the summer keep it at 25 because it get's real hot here. I bought the ceramic heat transmitter anyway, just in case the temperature in the 2 months of winter isn't correct in the cage. Thanks for all the amazing advice. I ordered a cute set of fleece liner, tunnel and snuggle sack. I can't wait for my girl to arrive 😍 I am used to bonding with small animals, but part of my bonding is not picking them up but let them come up my hand themselves. Do you recommend picking the hedgehog up anyway if she doesn't come up herself? Because i understand the contact is vital in socializing them? Xoxox
My favourite pet safe cleaner is vinegar and water if anyone needs ideas for cleaners ☺️ It's relatively cheap and you just mix plain white vinegar with a bunch of water so it's not as strong. Helps get rid of odours and cleans well!
About The heat, what if we rescue a baby one from the street. We are in Eastern Europe and these guys live outdoors and can be found scurrying around the streets mid winter! Do these guys need the same extra heating?
valeria bocheva as far as I know, a hedgehog needs a constant air temperature of 73-80 (Fahrenheit) degrees. You should always have a thermometer to measure the temperature even if you’re mostly sure of the temperature.
I want a hedgehog but I can’t find a place to buy one and also I am scared that my pit bull and my yellow lab are going to attack it and my nearest exotic pet veterinarian is at least 45-60 minutes away. I don’t know the right choice bc I really want one and I am financially ready but I’m just not sure
I’ have a pit too and I searched it up and it said most dogs know that hedgehogs have quills and can hurt them but don’t let them play together bc the dog can end up hurt and so can ur hedgehog 😃,and I would suggest waiting if ur not financially stable bc it would be better to be stable and good then not and have two dogs and a hedgehog 😀 just my opinion though, hope u find my information helping and also I would recommend when u go to the place wherever ur getting ur hedgehog from ask them on how to introduce ur dogs to the hedgehog, or u could do what I’m thinking about doing which is having my dogs meet my hedgehog one by one so my hedgehog isn’t bombarded by dogs, just my advice though and she also said that she doesn’t really introduce her hedgehogs to her dogs so I would suggest just keeping the hedgehog away from the dogs as much as u can hope that helps 😃
Recently got my new hedgehog and his names ozzy he's getting warmed up to me but I still use gloves bc he's still rlly prickely but other ways great video and yeah bye💖❤️
Just found out the Carolina Storm wheel only ships within the States :( I'm in Canada so I'll be buying a similar wheel off etsy, I hope it's as silent as the Carolina Storm!
+PugPibbleHedgie I can only see on the website and on the etsy page that he only ships within the states. I tried anyways but the shipping was 1,000$ (to detour people). Is there a link I'm maybe not seeing that hosts the international shipping?

Doing research is very important so well done
you’re a great person for that
How’s the hedgehog?
You are a good person... thanks

The cat jumping down scared the crap out of me😂😂😂😂
Admittedly, I am so proud of myself for not visibly jumping because it scared me too hahaha.

@@jen7043 i had a stroke reading this
Took my hedgehog to the vet today and she had worms and they said it was really common!! Where I live I paid $100 for her meds and her cost for the check up
It's actually fairly unusual for pet hedgehogs to get worms - I'm glad to hear you got it taken care of quickly though!
PugPibbleHedgie, Actually it's not very unusual I work at an exotic vet and hedgehogs with worms are one of the most common things we see in hedgehogs. 😊
Lexy Rose why is it so common? is there a reason behind it happening?
Stephanie Moreno, All wild hedgehogs carry worms, Healthy hedgehogs 'develop' a resistance (or immunity) to these worms, which means that the hedgehog itself prevents the worm numbers building up to the point at which they become a problem to the hedgehog (so that normally the hedgehog and its parasites will live in harmony.)

Where do you get fleece? Also I love your videos!
"heating is important to hedgehogs."
*laughs in filipino*
Do you have any info on bin setup or bin tours for hedgehogs 🦔?
Whimsewcool has closed, so who else would you recommend for fleece items? Thank you for making these videos as they are so informational! I am getting my first hedgie after 2 years of waiting. He is 4 mos. old and albino. So any special advice for this lil guy? Thanks!
I haven’t bought new fleece in a really long time, but I would search Etsy and just read shop reviews before purchasing to see if they’re a good shop or not :)
As far as albinos go, their care is the same as other APH’s.
Thank you so much Tori for this helpful hedgehog care video😊❤️
I really don’t have the space for 4 square ft i just thought it had to be kind of big but that’s HUGE
Thank you for your help! This information was really helpful
9:42 That cat tho, it's so cute

Hey girl! I have a quick question, I live in Arizona and I'm not really sure if I would have to have a heating lamp..
Love ur hedgehog videos I rlly love them and hedgehogs are my dream pets and I’m working rlly hard to get one
Hi, I live in Thailand and think I am getting a hedghog but do I need heating bc its pretty hot?
valeria bocheva as far as I know, a hedgehog needs a constant air temperature of 73-80 (Fahrenheit) degrees. You should always have a thermometer to measure the temperature even if you’re mostly sure of the temperature.
Allie Woog thank you
your eyeshadow is hella gorgeous girl!!!
What is considered a "tank" cage?
Also thank you for the informative videos!
I think she means “tank” as in made of glass
I appreciate you and this video so much
you are so wonderful!!! thank you for sharing your love of hedgehogs with us
how big is your cage in centimetres? also do you only need one ceramic heat lamp?
Where can I get the wall of cages like that? I looked up critter nation but only found ferret cages?
I have a terrarium, like one for let’s say a lizard. I live in Calgary so it gets cold really easily. Is this suitable, it’s also quite large.
Just found out the Carolina Storm wheel only ships within the States :( I'm in Canada so I'll be buying a similar wheel off etsy, I hope it's as silent as the Carolina Storm!
The Carolina Storm Wheel ships internationally :)
I believe you have to buy it directly from his website for international shipping though!
+PugPibbleHedgie I can only see on the website and on the etsy page that he only ships within the states. I tried anyways but the shipping was 1,000$ (to detour people). Is there a link I'm maybe not seeing that hosts the international shipping?
I got a great one to the uk 🇬🇧 from etsy 👌🏻
I have a question is it okay to use heating pad?.. for Hedgehog?..
I’m new to your channel and your vids help a lot!You also have a new subscriber and your pets are adorable :) ❤️❤️😍
If i were to travel, would I need to bring the whole cage?
No you would just need to bring a carry cage
no, theres hedgehog travel pods out there
This helped so much I'm getting my Hedgie tomorrow!
Where did u get it?
@@kiracraft4152 I got her from a local exotic pet store. I’m sure you can look one up if they are legal in your state :)
@@soniibunny thank you!! I’m trying to convince my parents to buy me one for Christmas :))
