My boyfriend and i are moving into an apartment where we can't have our dog (it was my family dog so she's simply going back to my parent's, so no worries) and we both never lived without dogs in our lives (or simply pets) i'm allergic to cats so I can't have one, and a hedgehog is my boyfriend's favorite animal, so we're thinking about getting one, once we're fully established in our new place! I'm doing lots and lots of research and your videos are great! Thanks a lot! And i'm really happy about adopting a little spiky friend! A great plus is that we both work till late at night so our schedule fits with a hedgehog lifestyle, we stay up late most nights! 😊😊 can't wait!
1:59 - 2:00 lol And I wish my hedgehog was that social and friendly... he seems like he's always grumpy and all I can think is that he may never be sociable with people.
My wife and daughter are on their way to adopt our first hedgehog right now. Your videos have been instrumental in helping me to know what we need to do. I know theres a lot to learn along the way but after watching half a dozen of your videos I feel like I may be ahead of the game. So thank you :)
Hi you might have gotten yours already but I got mine on the website maplespricklepatch and I just got it today it is amazing and loving and the breeder is great!🙂
Hi we are thinking about getting one // doing lots of research on hedgehogs. This video was helpful thanks. I have to COMMEND you on your patience through out the video, with the constant moving of that hedgehog . You either have incredible patience or a TON of love for it. Amazing how you kept calm through the entire video . Very impressed ps what age do you recommend the baby be before re homing ?
I'm used to it, hedgehogs are naturally pretty squirmy and don't appreciate having their movements restricted :) Hedgehogs can go home at around 6 weeks old when they are weaned from their mothers. You don't want one any earlier than that, but older hedgehogs are fine too! :) Both of my boys were slightly older when I got them.
On behalf of all those who own, looking to own, or simply just curious about the Hedgehog, and are looking for some good answers, thank you so much for all your hard work making these most informative, thoughtful videos looking to help any possible would-be & future Hedgehog owners and *enthusiasts (*I add "enthusuasts" because I think you have to be just that to take on the monetary and care responsibilities that owning such a pet entails; i'm not implying that they aren't worth it, though - they're so very cute and unique! But they need your love, and lots of your time!)! I'm not a Hedgehog owner - they are illegal to have as pets in the state of Pennsylvania, to start, and the closest thing I have to a Hedgehog is my Hedgehog-Beanie Baby, Buggles! Buggles keeps me young-at-heart, and is really a buddy herself. No, no...of course there is no comparison between owning the Beanie-Baby vs. the real thing. I know! Except both are terribly cute!!!! Buggles gets credit, however, for sparking my curiosity about the Hedgehog, quite seriously, and the more i've researched the lovable little companion, the more fascinating I find these animals. Upon and since finding your channel, Ms. Tori Lynn, I have learned so very much from your expert videos. I find you A#1 on this topic!! Your Hedgehog Care videos are jam-packed with tons of knowledge about the small mammal, and I thank you for the plethora of information on the topic! You really go above and beyond to help your audience - especially any future Hedgie owners who will/would be applying what they learned from you (we surely hope so, anyways! :) - in arming them with information! You - already what i'd consider an expert - probably still conducted a little research & double-checking, and almost-definitely, some considerable planning, in finding the right kind of information across this expansive topic, drawing up your best answers - and finally organizing it all! - to present to your audience, from their myriad list of, seemingly, every possible type of question about the Hedgehog, along w/ owning/homing it as a pet, of course* (* The latter serving as a plenty-expansive topic in itself!). Wow! So many people have so many varied concerns and things to consider for their own unique lifestyle & degree of limitation in having & keeping such an *exotic animal (*One, not necessarily demanding but one that requires some serious responsibility from their owner(s), as they are non-indigenous to our North America, and have some critical requirements such as temperature - 72-80 ° Hedgie cage temp. is necessary!) as the Hedgehog is, at least for us Americans, that your undertaking here as one informing & preparing those who are considering one (or more!) as a possible pet can be a daunting, and delicate matter! Understanding that fact, you do a tremendous job in your coverage of information, of any eventualities, of the ins and outs of Hedgehog ownership & care; you even touch on improbable yet possible dangers to a pet Hedgehog in the domestic environment & proactive solutions to those matters, and much, much more!! You explain everything well, and, while you're very honest about the cost, and the serious responsibility, attention & work required as a Hedgehog pet owner and/or foster parent - and that's quite justified - you're not discouraging to the viewer, either! You come across, simply, in preparing others for the role as successful, happy pet-parents, if getting a Hedgehog is, decidedly, right for them, after all their assessments (Drawing on your knowledge given here, in part!) are made. Well done!! And a great big, thank you, from animal lovers like me who especially appreciate you!! Very Sincerely, -Martin & Buggles P.S. I know this video is from many years ago, and you may or may not even be into owning Hedgehogs any longer, but I just watched most of the Hedgehog Care (and more!) segment on your channel, and, well, a "thank you" was due nonetheless! You did a great job. While I watched, I just kept thinking of all the diligent, hard work you must've put into these presentations!! So, people are still watching these videos, and appreciating your work! Thanks again, Tori Lynn!
I’m currently looking into buying a hedgie for myself from a very trusted local breeder. I’ve been binging your care videos and they’ve been super helpful! I feel well informed and prepared to take on one of these spiky babies, thank you so much for these
Love your videos! I am researching hedgehogs to ensure I am ready to be a hedgehog parent. Your videos have been so helpful. You look super cute in this video, love the glasses.
Man, glad to find these videos. A couple years ago, I did some research into taking care of these little guys and decided then wasn't the best time to bring one home. Now that I have a much quieter home, I'm considering getting one again. This is good to know, it sounds like you've had more than the two you've shown so far. Blaze and Draco seem to be pretty happy with you!
I absolutely love your videos. Thank you for sharing them with us. I am looking at getting a Hegehog and feel so much more prepared after watching your Playlist. Please keep making videos! They are great 👍
Great video, as usual! :D (as I was watching this, I was holding my hedgie hehe) I really enjoyed this video. I bet this will help so many new hogmom/dads out there! xxxx
Hey there! I'm a huge huge fan! I love your videos! I was just wondering what kind of night cam you use? And does it connect to your phone? Thank you so much and thank you for all the information!❤🦔❤🦔❤🦔❤🦔❤🦔❤🦔
Your videos have been so helpful in deciding if and when to get a hedgehog! I’ve wanted one for the longest time but for now, Im waiting until I have my own home (hopefully in these next couple years). I’ve have been doing research so I can prepare and the only thing that keeps popping in my head is how my two toy poodles would be with the hedgehog and vice versa. Do you have any problems with yours?
I just got one yesterday, I've been waiting for this specific hedgehog for almost a month. (put a deposit on her on oct. 7 and finally got her nov 3rd!) she's only 7 weeks old and your videos really helped! Im pretty much adjusted with her.
I do have a quick question though, I think she's due for a bath but Im afraid to bathe her because she's so small and i just want to be sure theres nothing specific i should be careful about.
PugPibbleHedgie okay good! thank you. you might be seeing more questions from me in the future, because I'm still trying to get the hang of taking care of her.
What kind of cat food do you recommend? My friend and I are wanting to put our money together and then convince our parents to letting us get one. I've done a tone of research and your videos are awesome!!
i made an impulsive decision to buy a hedgehog which ive been thinking about for a very long time but i crammed in alot of your videos in a short period of time and all of them have been very helpful! ive had my hedgehog home for about 12 hours now and weve been bonding alot, unfortunately his pervious owner didnt keep up with his toe nail trimming, any tips for 3 month old hedgie thats still a bit nervous of me ?
I wild hedgehog came up to me in a park, and as I approached it it didn't ball up. The park was very busy with people, dogs etc so I picked him up. He didn't mind at all I'm very shocked because we found one before in our yard in SA and it didn't let us toach it at all and always balled up. This little one is very friendly. Do you think it will be difficult for him to adapt to home life after being in the wild? He is bigger than yours by quite a bit? Thanks for the cool video it's very informative.
Hi Tori Lynn, I got my sweet baby girl hedgehog about a week and a half ago from an amazing breeder. I have been watching your videos and they're amazing and incredibly helpful. I was wondering if I can ask you a question because you are very knowledgeable. I was cutting my hedgehogs' nails yesterday for the first time and cut the quick of her back nail a bit. It bled and I put cornstarch then flour on it to stop the bleeding. She didn't seem that upset by it but I noticed that she didn't go on her wheel last night. I feel absolutely terrible!!! Do you know about how long it'll take to heal and have any ideas for comfort? Thank you in advance and for your videos. You have beautiful pets! Sincerely, Allison
Hi my name is Gianna and I really want a hedgehog and I have to work for the money to buy her and can you make a video where the like the toys and cage supplies video?
I'm thinking of getting one this year or next and I'm just starting high school but when I go to college my sister would be taking care of it because I know they can live to like 5
i have a heating bad, but it’s under the cage and a blanket or even a couple blankets. his cage is a plastic container cage. will he be okay??? i feel the heat everyday and it isn’t too hot
I do use gloves but its a temporary thing and i only use them when pulling him out of the cage i think he actually likes the gloves as well so thats a plus for me
Love your videos!! I've been watching them the past few days now to prepare for getting my hedgie!! I got her last night! Thanks for making these videos!!
My wife and I just bought a 9 month old today for our daughter and oh yeah it's painful at first DON'T GRAB both you and your hedg will not be happy lol but after 2 or 3 times I figured out gently is key and were getting to know each other a little at a time. He seams to panic when I held him . Could be because were both a bit nervous of each other. But as with my bearded dragon ill learn how to better handle and when not too . Awesome vid very educational for a guy like me
Just got a hedgehog... on thr first night she leapt over my 19cm tall plastic container and dissapeared for 2 days before we fond her under the piano... idk what she ate for 2 days but i gave her a bath and she just curling up all night didnt move... i hope she is ok... any tips?
I just adopted a hedgehog. Almost 2 years old. He wasn't well taken care of. He's too skinny and he bites and is very skittish because the previous owner was allergic. I'm gonna make sure he has a good life from now on and I know it will take time but any pointers would be helpful!
When do I need to trim my hedgehog's nails? Like when how long have they grown? Also, just for curiosity, what's the problem of them having nails that are too long?
+Wei Jessica I typically do my boys nails once a week. When the white bit of the nails seems a tad long, I snip it off. It's all person judgement. The issue with them being long is that hedgehogs tend to rip them off, which causes bleeding and opens them up for infections. They also will make their nails start to grow funny when they start to curl. Some hedgehogs even have their nails grow straight back into their paws, which is painful for them and can also cause infections.
Which critter nation cage getting a hedgehog and don't know which one ? Where did you get yours and what's the model Love your videos you've helped me soooo much with getting supplies thank you
In my cage I use cat food as the main hard food as well as meal worms 3 times a week would it be okay to put a couple pieces of spikes hedgehog food in his dig box
I first held one today and I thought that constant running around was normal so now I'm not so worried about bonding (much like I was with my chameleon) 😂 but luckily I'm getting one and my roommate (who's had several) is gonna help so let's hope for the best lol
Ik this video was posted 6 years ago so I probably won’t get a response, unless some nice hedgehog owner responds. I’m getting a hedgie, and the cage with be heated of course, but what if I take him out? Idk the exact temperature of my home, but it’s definitely lower than their required temperature. So my question is, do I need to heat the whole room? Can they be in slightly cooler temperatures is removed from the cage? (and if so, how long)
Hi my hedgehog lulu manedged to get out of her cage and stuck behind a few cupboards we have tried to remove the cupboards but they are all stuck in the wall are there any tips or recommendations I should use to get her out
i found a pygmy hedgehog at my ridding club while i was walking a horse and i picked it up and snuggled it while i was walking the horse and wanted to take it home but my mom wouldn't let me because of the reaction that my dad would have and that fact that we didnt exactly know how to take care of one so now im looking up all the information i can possibly and physically find to be able to show my mom that i know how to take care of one.
Hi, this might sound dumb but is it just the regular craft store fleece?
Avery Bug yes you can also put pee pads underneath the fleece to make it more absorbent

I first held one today and I thought that constant running around was normal so now I'm not so worried about bonding (much like I was with my chameleon) 😂 but luckily I'm getting one and my roommate (who's had several) is gonna help so let's hope for the best lol
where do i find a light wormer
When you use fleece what do you use to wash them with anything special?
Stupid question. On all the RUclips videos that I watched but hedgehogs. None of them have specified if they bite or not.
Hi Tori. When can you start feeding the hedgehog mealworms? Mine is 6 wks old. Thank you.
Sorry-so should I use fleece bedding?
I love your hedgehog videos. hopefully if all goes well, I'll get a hedgehog next year❤
Can you use a guinea pig cage for a hedgehog cage?
As long as your hedgehog doesn't climb and you can heat it properly. Wire cages are difficult to manage because they do not hold heat well.
What are the best space heaters and heat lamps
Love your vids I had a hamster are they alike ?
Free the bedding can I get it at a Petsmart in the small animal section ??
Probably not a lot of the time petstores sell unsafe stuff
Hey there - can you tell me about quilling such as how many should they be losing at a time (what is too much and a cause for concern). Thank you!
Ok I'm a little late but what kind of hedgehog do you have
what if your room is normally 73-74 degrees Fahrenheit? is that ok?
Might be getting 2 hedgies soon! (A mother and daughter that need a home) love your videos!
Gorgeous hair.
Hi just wondering am I able to use a fuzzy blanket for the floor of the cage
Ik this video was posted 6 years ago so I probably won’t get a response, unless some nice hedgehog owner responds. I’m getting a hedgie, and the cage with be heated of course, but what if I take him out? Idk the exact temperature of my home, but it’s definitely lower than their required temperature. So my question is, do I need to heat the whole room? Can they be in slightly cooler temperatures is removed from the cage? (and if so, how long)
Hi my hedgehog lulu manedged to get out of her cage and stuck behind a few cupboards we have tried to remove the cupboards but they are all stuck in the wall are there any tips or recommendations I should use to get her out
i found a pygmy hedgehog at my ridding club while i was walking a horse and i picked it up and snuggled it while i was walking the horse and wanted to take it home but my mom wouldn't let me because of the reaction that my dad would have and that fact that we didnt exactly know how to take care of one so now im looking up all the information i can possibly and physically find to be able to show my mom that i know how to take care of one.
also is it okay if i dont find a wheel to just have like a pen for wen ever i get a hedgehog?
