    You can avoid the glide by changing the pitch of the steps after the initial "highlighted" step. Let's say the first step is highlighted and set to d, then change the next unlit step to d as well. Change all of them to d until the next highlighted step.

    • @hujuu
      @hujuu 5 лет назад +1

      Doesn't seem to work unfortunately. For example, if you populate every step with the same note then change one step to a different note, there's still a slide between them.

    • @Chasing_Thoughts
      @Chasing_Thoughts 5 лет назад

      @@hujuu make sure your adjusting both layer 1 and 2. This helps a bit.

    • @hujuu
      @hujuu 5 лет назад

      @@Chasing_Thoughts Thanks. I was adjusting 1-2 together, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Maybe it's just the way the engine is set up? Seems a strange choice.

      @@hujuu yeah afaik slide is always on. You can mitigate it with the tip above and also by messing with attack/release times, but I don't know of a way to entirely stop slide. You can also just put different notes on different parts, if you have any parts free in your kit.

    Thanks for this video. Can't believe I've owned the Volca for several months now and didn't know about this function. Does this mean you could use a MIDI keyboard like the Keystep to play melodic lines in a conventional way?

    • @fullconsciousness1448
      @fullconsciousness1448 4 года назад +2

      With an external midi keyboard was always possible to play exact notes as they were already defined by the keys. This Qpi function allows only exact standard notes to be played/selected when rotating the onboard pitch knob (instead of all intermediate sound when Qpi is Off) , allowing specific melodic phrases to be created or programmed with the unit itself only

    Thanks. That's really useful. What's causing the glide?

    • @xnflg3074
      @xnflg3074 5 лет назад

      It seems like that element could easily be controlled by the modulation and/or envelope parameters of each layer. I'm very interested in this!

    • @alexiscabreramusic
      @alexiscabreramusic 5 лет назад

      you need to edit every pitch note (it doesnt matter if they are triggered or not)

    • @alexiscabreramusic
      @alexiscabreramusic 5 лет назад

      anyways, theres still a bit a glide, seems to be just like this, perhaps in a future update this might be also an option to turn on'off

    WOW man, great video, thanks. Do you know if the wave guide affects pitch? And envelope?

    • @mikesauta7626
      @mikesauta7626 3 года назад +2

      He didnt answer, but the wave guide is more like a really tight, slight delay, not one with a lot of of tail…theres two modes, “string”, which will give kind of a bowed sounding attack with a tight and short tail, and “tube” which kinds of give it more of a metallic, almost 3 dimensional sound, very clangy, with almost no tail. So, in saying that, it does kind of affect envelope, but not in a way you might be thinking. It kind of has its own pitch thing going on, but more drastic with changing sound then overall pitch. I think the idea is to make your sounds more actual sounding, even if its a sound no ones ever heard before. I probably made this more confusing lol.

    Volca drum should be renamed volca omni.
    A hardware synth with 2x6 voices, pitch quantization, 16 step sequencer, per-step active sequence settings, choke group, and physical modeling for only $150... wow
