THIS IS WHY DHALSIM SHOULD NEVER BE TOP TIER

- When I went to @big-one2ndchannel260 arcade in Japan, I played against this OD Dhalsim player Mukai. He showed me that I need to learn more about Street Fighter Alpha 3. His Dhalsim makes every character feel like a low tier!

Justin, as a diehard Daigo fan, I always overlooked your content. But I have to say now I can't get enough of it, I absolutely love it. I can't believe how humble you are given your status in the FGC, you are funny as hell and educate us scrubs on a level we can comprehend. Thank you and keep it going!
It's either you learn to handle your ego or end up and be like LTG
Why this comment 😂😂😂lol
@@burds_do_fly7660 LTG or DSP, really
@@ToshisGarden who's dsp
@@burds_do_fly7660 Wilson u end up being awesome
"The people make my reputation" is one of the most humble things I've ever heard, especially from someone of Justin's fame. What a real one.
And him zooming in on his face to add a drama effect is very humble as well
Some Wongish wisdom.
Lebron: I’m the goat!
Jorden: People call me the goat.
"What's my reputation?"
That's why we love you, because I've had the same thought. You're more level-headed than people who are not as skilled as you. You get mad like any human, but you never make excuses.
The way this Dhalsim player reacted to jumps and Hadoukens reminded me of Alex Valle and others who had Hugo as a main in USFIV. Incredible reflexes and high punishment.
Valle Hugo was legendary. How he managed to beat Bonchan Sagat will forever be a mystery to me
@@MrCactuar13 Skill.
@@MrCactuar13 Bonchan just had a bad set and ate dirt against a grappler:/ happens to the best of us, doesn’t help that Valle had an amazing Hugo and all the right reads
@@MrCactuar13 Had to look this match up. It did not disappoint. Thanks mate!
Funny he mentioned ego. One of the reasons I watch you is because your humble and not out here just slaughtering everyone and talking smack. There's humor in the losses and you give props where it's due. Respect
Yeah seriously. Many other fighting game pros carry this demeanor like they're some unstoppable anime villain even when they lose early in most tournaments.
@@VAFranky right!! And the sore winners too.. the ego is thru the roof..but Justin is right if there's an ego it's cuz us fans hold him as a legend. And Justin ain't afraid to lose..unless it's SMUG 😂 If it's SMUG he reaches deep into his own soul to channel his inner champion 🏆
Filipino “THIS IS MY GAME!” Champ
And that the same reason Ialways watch his video!
@@gwinbeer 😂😂😂😂
Without being super familiar with the fighting game scene... you are one the most humble there is.
I've never heard JWong being salty or disrespectful
Young J Wong had his moments
He saves a lot of it for SNK arcade modes
@@ShawneeUnionYoung everyone has had their moments.
It does take a LONG time to get where Wong is at, but now he is here and I appreciate it.
Don't get him wrong, Justin.... he can get salty, even today but he manages that much better than most.
justin even now gets salty from time to time and i do feel he has some kind of ego, but i also feel that he has a sane amount of it, hes not anoying or disrespectful like others, and he knows that even though hes a really good player, maybe even one of the best, he also akcnowledges thats hes a mortal and that he has flaws and fails like anyone else, that theres always going to be someone better tha you and thats normal, and i respect the the hell out of this dude for that
hes actually one of the main reasons that i decide to play FG recently, specially street fighter, and i really enjoy his content
So, to update the Justin Wong Final Boss:
A grappler with an extra long reach, a saber, and a teleport.
And green hand
Like Seth?
General from Kaiser Knuckle
@@luizricardo4165 he despises SF4 Seth so it makes sense
S1 Sf4 Seth.
im gonna be honest dude, i always knew about you as "the guy who got beaten by Daigo in SF3" but since i started watching your content, now i actively root for you in the wide variety of fighting games you play. Keep that amazing content and prepare yourself for that classic EVO game! i wanna see you win!
The crazy thing is Justin won the match against Daigo but all anyone remembers is #37🤣
‘I love losing. Then I know where to improve’. Confirmed, Justin is Goku.
3:40 - This glitch also exists for Ryu/Akuma's hopkick. You can cancel the recovery frames during a specific window for some reason. Window is only a few frames, but you can make it easier by pianoing a special.
For all the attention the infinites get, people don't realize how insanely strong V-ISM Dhalsim is in this game.
Like literally in a tier all by himself. Not a single losing match-up. Even ST and SF5 Sim at their peak are nowhere near as good. Guard crush means you can't sit VS him either. He has pressure from full screen all the time.
It was a very specific combination of the character's innate abilities, move parameters and system mechanics. It's uncommon for SF to have guard crush, universal air throws, "crush counter", air tech/recovery, ground tech and especially start the match with max meter. Then A3 just added all those foreign mechanics at once... that's crazy. (just to make it clear i'm not bashing the game for doing that)
For example A2 and CvS2 even have broken custom combos too, but they dont have all those other things together. And that fact combined with not much favorable move parameters, that prevented Dhalsim from beasting in those games as much as in A3. Good for us.
@@carlosaugusto9821 His neutrals are also exceptionally strong here. Every button is an anti air.
Even an X-ism Sim is stronger than CvS2 Sim by a mile.
@@HamHamHampster When SFA3 first came out in the arcade, I mained X-Dhalsim. Funny thing is one of my friends was a Sakura main so I can totally understand whats going on here. Dhalsim's guard crush is his biggest advantage, followed by his unique escape maneuvers (drills, slides, teleport), and his anti air is pretty good too. If you think its hard to jump against V-Dhalsim, try jumping at X-Dhalsim when he has meter...
@@krunkcleanup2949 I don’t think I’ve ever seen back+jab anti-air lose to anything
Dhalsim’s wife did a lot of cheering that day. What a performance!
Always goes to show that no matter how good you think you are, there will *_ALWAYS_* be someone better than you.
If you get to that point, either you accept your losses and train to beat that person, or you sit in sadness
Your philosophy is the way. Strive for perfection but realize there is always room for growth. Being humble which is all I have seen from your content Justin. Been a fan since mid 2000s.
They said his reputation is only getting parried by Daigo 😂
Real fans know all of his real accomplishments and that moment 37 is just a funny/cool footnote in his career.
not coming from tournament scene, but JWonggg got MASSIVE hate, im guilty as Strive as well, just only heard from some players and only few clips i watched on youtube. Long time ago, but i remember using his mindset with Balrog vs a Kazuya in SFxT , won 1 or 2 , 2-9
some shi like that, so i was already aware of his strategies, and took a sec.
When people yell "LET'S GO JUSTIN!" I usually remember his reverse OCV in Marvel 2 with Cyclops. He never gave up.
@@TheWashableBomb kinda like the first Rocky movie. He lost, but it didn't matter that he did.
The background music for the "I mean what's my reputation?" bit at 6:01 is Remilia Scarlet's theme from the Touhou games HELL YES WHERE THE TOUHOU GANG AT
I remember way back when street fighter 2 first came out. There was a guy always using zangief and dhalsim and beat everybody. It was the first time I've seen someone use the characters people never used. It influenced me to try to learn some odd characters, I use that style plenty. I admit he's not as fun to play as when he first came out.
I love Zangief in SuperStreetFighter 2 on Snes!!
Damn- well said. I need to embrace that philosophy and just enjoy losing and learning
My mans says what’s my reputation, while I was literally paralyzed by his spiritual pressure at final round.
Editors godlike as ever. 😂😂😂
Justin, you’re a champion. I think the fact that you show not only wins but losses too is what really makes your content great. Shows you’re human. Nothing wrong with being human. I remember when you got first introduced to the world back in B5. We all knew you were special and you still are. Glad you’re still enjoying fighting games and still trying to be good at it. Lord knows i’ve lost motivation to even be competitive at least seeing you still put up a good fight in games that, back then we know we didn’t have a chance against Japan in, is always awesome man. Keep it up!
As much of a great player you are, I've started to believe you're an even better content creator. Your stuff is pretty funny and educative at the same time. Can't wait for the SF6 content to start coming out!
He's always been one of the best in every game that he's been in in my book
One of the most consistent players across many games. Most big names he goes up against only focus on Street Fighter or vs. games and nothing else.
@@VAFranky oh justin is cool too but I was talking about dhalsim 😅
I didn't even know you were the guy on the receiving end of the Diago parry! I've always heard you were a god at Marvel VS Games and that's where I know you from.
When he was rising in the scene in Marvel at Chinatown Fair and I was starting to do my thing in Tekken Tag/4 I told him I will always respect you if you stay humble and don't carry a ego. I myself tried to live that way because you will be respected if you stay humble. He has done a mighty fine job of keeping that mentality. Proud of you champ!
Reputation is one of the greatest to ever hit the fighting game scene…and moment 37 lol it is what it is
Thank you for the content, and for explaining your humility in competition. As a daily watcher of your videos, I love it when you feature other talents like this one. Stay humble and see you tomorrow. 😊
It's always a pleasure to watch J play some fighting games! A humble legend in my book!
Agreed!
Mukai is a alpha 3 legend the guy can play everyone in the cast as well a true maestro of the game
If I see him on Fightcade, I need to ensure that I battle him in some Sakura, Akuma & Guy dittos in order to better my skill with those characters.
This is my favorite video from this last Japanese visit. I'm so happy these get posted from your streams. Your passionate knowledge on this niche shit just speaks to those just like me.
🔥🔥🔥🔥 really enjoyed this and the commentary with replays.
The one thing Alpha (Zero) 3 had that I love so much was the sound the heavy punches made really made you feel the punch❤️
Justin Wong's reputation. 9x EVO Champion and a Tougeki Champion. I think you can afford to lose all you want when you did that much winning lol. Great vid. That Dhalsim player is crazy good.
Off all your videos, i always like the ones where you show ypur losses and give credit to the unknown aersome players out there. That humility is a mark of greatness and a testament of true genuine great guy that you are. Even after achieving the top in the fighting games arena just speaks how awesome you are..
The lesson of course, is that everyone gets washed sometimes. Even the dude that played a bullet hell with fighting game controls in EVO 2014 AND WON. It's not about always winning, it's about never giving up. That's what I learned long ago from following JWong's career and I'm much happier playing fighting games for it. If there was demand, I have no doubt JWong could come back with an answer to this extremely OD Dhalsim play. Man, that is some crazy Dhalsim though. What a wild set! Mukai is incredible.
Are you talking about ChrisG? Lol
@@TheWashableBomb Name checks out.
@@gramdalfthewhite Got to be. Only thing that makes sense given the context is that match (JWong vs. ChrisG finals).
jwong, loved your breakdown of this set :)
Dropping that wisdom at 6:07 😎
Man what a gem of a video. Justin posting getting washed is the content I need. So many times in your vids you hype up your opponent and then proceed to smoke them
With losing comes learning. Mr Wong with the philosophy lesson. Love ya j Wong
I admire how humble you are. Good video.
Ouch, that Dhalsim player had all bases COVERED, incl. activations. GGs!
I love your philosophy ❗️❣️
I needed to hear that 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
i love the breakdown in every video. keep it up!
Eating some Ls is nice for me. It's a good reminder to clean up my play and stay polished. Or maybe to learn that extra combo route I usually neglect, but in a few instances it may have won me the game.
I love watching you go up against people who are still grinding these older games and doing stuff I've never seen before.
Having a Dhalsim at this level seems like a Hell of a lot of fun
While most will slide into your DM's, Dhalsim slides under your DM's.
True. If you lose that means there's still more room for you to improve, perfection and mortal humans don't match.
Justin Wong: "I suck" 🤣🤣 That kind of modesty is honorable.
Not sure why youtube's algorithm has sent me down a Street Fighter rabbit hole, especially since I haven't played it in 30 years (and even then I wasn't very good). But I will say this: I respect the hell out of you Justin. Your attitude towards losing is the right one to have.
When I was a bit more heavy into the Quake/Quake2 scene, I loved when I ran into someone that gave me a challenge. And if they killed me, I got even more excited. The only way to improve in any game is to know you're not the best and always have something to learn. And only stomping people that are lesser skilled will not increase your own, ever.
Justin your skill is top tier and your desire to help ppl like me improve in fighting games makes you an all time great
Awesome video. Love watching you fight. Great content bro. Thanks👍👍👍👍
I'd like to see two guys using Dhalsim like that face each other. would be pretty crazy
This was pretty lit wish I know when the UK tournaments where gonna happen
Greatest MvC2 player of all time-"I mean..what's my reputation?"
I think someone that can do well with the variable spin air attacks and timing can showcase some dhalsim well. They only busting out the short fire breath here too. Losing is all about learning, that's life in general.
That intro had me dying. That’s why I keep watching your content. You can laugh at yourself
Any chances there is some new sf6 Dhalsim footage? Your review on him would be great.
Love your content, guides and tips
God damn! I've seen you in tough matches, I've seen you lose, and even decisively. This is the only time I can remember seeing you get just absolutely bodied. Hats off for staying cool under pressure like that
@5:09, thought it said "Shit great"!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
this was a dope vid thanks for upload justin
Great content. Keep the videos coming.
Had no idea Dhalsim was this dangerous! This guy is an incredible player. Props to you Justin and for the continued content.
If someone enters the FGC afraid to lose matches, they'll never stick it out. Pride can drive you but only to a point.
Why the editor do u like that at the intro when u said what’s my reputation? Lol nonetheless, keep them vids coming. Loving it. I’ll try to catch u on twitch.
This might just be the best matches I've seen in a year, eye-opening!
People always say nobody remember the 2nd in a competition but things are a little different if the champion was so good that the nearest to beat them gets mad respect too . As long as people still remember Daigo they also remember that JWong is the one who almost beat him (at their prime)🤣
Just to add to your post, Daigo didn't even win the Tourney that Evo Moment 37 happen.
It was John Choi.
So it's super hilarious to me that all people remember of that tourney was the Daigo Parry and Justing Wong getting cheered by Floe seconds before disaster.
Lame emperor is ALSO the humble emperor.
Mad respect.
I have a friend that traveled to Japan two decades ago. He was a good player, but when he played against japaneses player to sfz3 he discovered a diferent game. There was one with Dalshim that let him win the second round because he was confident enought to win the third round.
"the fun is in the journey, not in the destination"? That's why I say fg's are your own shonen anime: you get beaten, you get angry, you train 'till you improve, you beat the guy who woopped your butt, you feel good, someone better comes in, you get beaten.... Rinse and repeat. "I love loosing" is the simplification of the shonen phillosophy.
The editor's comment of Justin getting lame out is divine just really got me 🤣
It's a delicate balance in knowing that it's possible to lose, but also having the confidence in yourself that you wont.
Then, not getting too salty if you do.
Some random dude asked Jwong about his feelings when losing because he has a reputation. These would be the best scenarios I think because I've been follower and a fan of him since 2005 or 2006.
Scenario 1: Young Jwong be like "I hate losing because I want to be the best and dominant in the scene. Don't forget about my fight money dawg"
Scenario 2. The matured and family man Jwong "What's my reputation? I'm all like you a normal dadbod family guy who wants to enjoy playing games, smash some food, and wash my belly with beer.
Yeah you are right about Dhalsim. His escape mehanic is too good for Alpha 3 but hey in Japan, they know how to beat the crap out of the character.
Dhalsim was my favorite character in street fighter 2, it is truly amazing seeing the skills some players have with him.
Why do people hate on Justin? People see Moment 37 and think they can dunk, when they wouldn't be able to stand one match against this man. Love you Justin, keep on Street Fighting.
Been a yoga man since I first saw those arms reach across the screen! I play many other but “slim” is my guy love to see good Dhalsim!!
LMFAO that opening was perfect
I don't even play fighting games. I just like watching your stuff. Hope you're doing well!
Man... There were a few insane custom combos he pulled on you. Juggling you with HK and fireballs, teleporting over and looping it across the whole stage -- one looked like he used HP to hit you at half screen and knock you into some fireballs about to leave the other side of the screen!! I wouldn't feel bad losing 0-5, probably would be 0-50 if I tried.
Justin never ceases to entertain me, which is why i love his vids. Hearing him complain about how cheap Dhalsim plays in SFA3 is rich coming from a guy that always plays Chun-Li, one of the cheapest and most overpowered characters in SF.
Even the G.O.A.T. loses every now and again. It happened to Federer, and it can even happen to JWong. I'll keep watching, win, lose, or draw. Great channel.
Got his wife cheering in the background LMFAOOO good shit
Justin is a solidified FGC legend, he doesn’t really have nothing to prove anymore despite losses lol
It’s good for content tho
justin you are the one and only fighting game player that i watch , keep up the good work
I love watching Justin play Alpha 3 against Japan's best.
Reputation? Bro, we like you because of your charisma and determination, + your passion for the games, keep going!
0:20 take my like i laugh so hard there it's a fair exchange
I'm a certified Justin fan, acting like he ain't monster switching through so many games and playing at such a high level and understanding his opponents decision making and tech. Amazing 🙏
9:37 can we appreciate Dhalsim entering the ultimate zoner mode?
I have top respect for good Dhalsim players. I play most characters to an ok ish standard but every time I try and play as Dhalsim I suck so bad. Always fun watching you play these great players Mr J
This is fantastic bro 🎮🙂👍
“He got his wife cheering in the background..”😂
As I've been playing One Piece Burning Blood against a tryhard friend who plays on the small competitive scene.
This reminded me how Luffy is usually top tier because of the concept of his skills work at the time to adapt em for a fighting game, fast long ranged attacks.
"F it, im just gunna chip him with Chun super, he don't got the parries"
Opponent: Parries*
Question: Since Dhalsim can flip out of custom combos, would it be better to go X or A against him to do more damage when you do hit him?
He clearly has the Super...CLEARLY!!!...that was DOPE❤
i love you man, you are so humble
Where there's someone getting smoked, there's Yoga Fire.
This man is too clean with the hadouken dodges 👀
Man to this day I still feel like SFA3 is the weirdest of all the Street Fighter games. It just feels so different.
Yito2k has a crazy ST Sim. One of the best Sims I’ve seen.
