I Bought the 7.5r about 4monhts ago and i am very happy with. 2018 model so pre opf and i just tuned it last saturday, very healthy motor and did a stage1 no hardware. It did 320hp/407nm stock and after it did a stunning 393hp/513nm ! It was already quick but now it is a beast, very playfull also. 0-100 and 100-200 times went from 4,6/13,9 to 3,6/9,9 ! This car have enough space, it's a good daily because there still is comfort, it's hella quick and the haldex system works very nice and the akrapovic system sounds amazing (no downpipe needed unless you want to go balls deep).
I bought a mk7 in Lapiz blue 3weeks ago it has a stage 1 tune both engine and DSG ,370bhp & 495 Nm , and it’s a traffic light monster , but also a fantastic daily!!
I have the 2020 Mk7.5 sunroof, top of the range. Stage 1 APR and TCU tuned pulling 370 hp 500 nm 245 kw. It's a beast off the line. 0 to 100km 4.1 sec or 3.8 sec to 60 mph. I get people looking at my car and not even bothering to give it a go at the lights. lol There had been two takers in one year but could not beat this Golf. The storage under the seat you best not try and use. This is because it can slide way inside under the carpet and hard to retrieve. As for economy. Consistently 6.8 to 7.5 litres per 100km On country roads cruising even better. I drive it mostly in comfort mode. It's the best handling car I driven in my 51 years of driving. Cheers from Ozz

Ive got a custom tuned mk7.5 golf r in Lapiz blue, it’s making 430hp, 24lbs of boost, transmission tune…..mine does 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds…….absolutely love my R, can take it to the track and same day take it to the ski hill. The Swiss army of vehicles.
Living in so. Florida, I didn’t see the need for awd. My daily driver is a 2019 GTI S, DSG. I don’t drive much, 3500 original miles, but I love it. By the way, did mention I’m 79 ! Great video, thanks. RickGTI….. 🌴

I had a mk7.5 GTI, sold it about a year ago and had a TTS, Q5 and T5 since. The GTI was by far the best car I’ve ever had. It’s the best of everything. I’m hoping to sell the Q5 in a year or so and get a mk7.5 Golf R, doesn’t look as good in my opinion but has that amazing haldex AWD. Did look at a B9 Audi S4, but it’s out of my price range 😢

Nice cars I’ve got a GTD mk7.5 quick enough for me in sports mode so the R must be the bees knees seen a few for sale on Volkswagen for £29-30k with low mileage

@@CarChatTV- I've seen a 2019 Golf R in Lapiz Blue not too far from me.. it has all the toys, except for no pan roof, which doesn't bother me, and it has 65k miles on it.. the dealership is looking 22500 for it.. seems in really good condition!! What mods could be done to bring it up to 400bhp without major upgrades if at all possible? Cheers and keep up the great work with the channel
The 2018 pre gpf is the better 7.5 the 2019 version loses power from 310 to 299bhp due to the gpf, not only that it loses Multi point injection (MPI) which makes it less tuneable. But it's a fantastic all year all round daily driver. I love mine.

I just purchased my 7.5 R (2018) here in Canada with 80,000km. So stoked to have the awd system for the winter. I test drove a 2023 WRX and 2023 A4. The mk7.5 blew both out of the water just in terms of comfort alone. So stoked to take ownership tomorrow morning
I’ve owned two of these. The mk7 manual and an estate 7.5. Bloody awesome cars. I now own a 280bhp ŠKODA superb but still thinking of getting another golf R. I hate the look of the mk8 so would be another 7.5 if I could find a fairly low mileage unmolested one.

I have a 18' 7.5...I.E. Stage 2 programme, IE Turbo Inlet, IE Intercooler, IE Down pipe, INGEN Cold Air Intake, Neu Speed Exhaust. BOV. Manual. OBD 11 mods.... Tis no slouch.

At the factory different manufacturers may tune the engine to optimize for factors such as fuel efficiency, emissions, or performance, leading to variations in horsepower output. Many cars have same displacement (CC) engines but produces different power. But that depends how engine is tuned up. Hope that helps 🤗

Just wanted to give you a heads up you didnt launch the car properly. Youre supposed to hold down the traction control button for like 3-5 seconds and then you hear a ding meaning all your ESC is turned off the best the car can. Then you hold your foot to the break and then your foot on the accel to the floor it should actually have a message that comes on your screen saying launch control. Then let off the break and enjoy the ride. Cheers.

Have a mk7 R in black...35mpg...prefer the analogue dials but it is the best daily driver I have had- does everything so so well and if you know, you know, otherwise its 'just a Golf'. Local VW garage been trying to get me to trade it for a new one ..just no..ugly, touch screen, poor infotainment and expensive.

Totally with you on this! Much prefer the analogue dash dials. My Mk 7 is manual too for really playing around with the gears! A great daily and some sensible driving can get 35mpg but wonderful when truly applying the right foot! If you know, you know!
Good question! I mean the Golf R is going to be cheaper and more affordable. Depends how much you love mercedes as a Brand! A45 is gonna have around 60ish more bhp. But the golf R will be about 60kg lighter! I’d be interested to hear what people say! But I’d go golf R and use extra money saved to tune it 👌🏽
That didnt look like a proper launch. I've seen a lot of them and in the clip it looked like regular acceleration, great video though, I love the golf R.
We actually traded our 7.5 in for Mk8 R follow me here.. Day of pick up 29/3/2021 we took a mk8 GTI cs home instead it’s stage 1 (flash only and TCU) 407bhp!!
@@CarChatTV I was misinformed it is stage 2+ BUT! It's more reliable so i'm not that disappointed and room for me to choose the bigger turbo 🥳 majesitc color indeed. Never seen one live.
I love the golf r but think the mk 7.5 and mk 8 both lack character. mk7 looks the best before they face lifted it and ruined its look (like females do) plus not a fan of any lcd dashboard as they fail so easily, spend have my time at work fixing these screens as they stop working for seemily no reason plus the lcd radio screen on the 7.5 is about as responsive as italy in the world war.
I just bought a 2019 Golf R Special Edition here in Australia; it’s similar to a UK R with the Performance Pack, ie Akrapovic exhaust, 340mm brakes, Pretoria wheels, and Dynaudio stereo. I considered others like the Focus RS and the i30N, but they-and the civic Type R- just make you look a boy racer. The M140i is too rare and pricey here, and the S3 is the same car with a bigger price tag. The Golf R is perfect; it doesn’t make you look like a cunt/boy racer/yuppie/cheapskate/chav etc, and it can absolutely mix it with the best of them

Awesome car, was considering but ended up getting an F30 LCI 335D as it was cheaper to buy/tax/insure, better mpg and gets 800nm easily with stage 2

DCC comes as an optional extra on the r and gti, but the cupra 5f comes as standard with DCC and the e-diff

That didnt look like a proper launch. I've seen a lot of them and in the clip it looked like regular acceleration, great video though, I love the golf R.

I love the golf r but think the mk 7.5 and mk 8 both lack character. mk7 looks the best before they face lifted it and ruined its look (like females do) plus not a fan of any lcd dashboard as they fail so easily, spend have my time at work fixing these screens as they stop working for seemily no reason plus the lcd radio screen on the 7.5 is about as responsive as italy in the world war.
Well just hang on these cars. It is that simple. Don’t tune them, don’t f*** them … just look after them….

I just bought a 2019 Golf R Special Edition here in Australia; it’s similar to a UK R with the Performance Pack, ie Akrapovic exhaust, 340mm brakes, Pretoria wheels, and Dynaudio stereo. I considered others like the Focus RS and the i30N, but they-and the civic Type R- just make you look a boy racer. The M140i is too rare and pricey here, and the S3 is the same car with a bigger price tag. The Golf R is perfect; it doesn’t make you look like a cunt/boy racer/yuppie/cheapskate/chav etc, and it can absolutely mix it with the best of them
