    I just got the EUT-MUS Tenor version of this ukulele and will say a year later after the review every thing you said in the review stands true for mine. So good for manufacturing consistency. I got the tenor version for the wider 38 mm nut width. I am truly amazed at the excellent intonation on this ukulele and that it was set-up so we'll from the factory just like my Nova U Concert was she I got it.

    I’ve just ordered this in blue, on cyber Monday but since I live in Europe and ordered it to America and can’t have it to Christmas. My family checked it out and said it is perfect, so it’s just tormenting me now with the waiting. My favourite ukulele is an enya pineapple, which is extremely quiet but sounds absolutely beautiful. I’m looking forward to the same build quality but more volume with this one.

    That's a nice uke. A concert with the sound of a soprano definitely appeals to me. I like the punch of a soprano but the scale can be awkward, on the other hand a often find concerts and tenors quiet. I've even had K brand tenors that never had enough volume to my ear.

  • @gato7908
    @gato7908 2 года назад

    i like the sound, but I've only used the higher tension strings too. I wonder if these would take a lot of getting used to. Enya seems to be a company that at least uses its cost savings to produce a high quality product at a reasonable price rather than try to price compete with the cheapest chinese brands out there. And your positive comments about the setup is very reassuring. But that enya logo does look suspiciously like the irish singer's signature logo :)

    New camera seems to be working great! Yay! Now, the ukulele. It sounds lovely! Looks... Actually, it looks nice too. I'm not a big fan of elaborate decorations, so, yes, thumbs up. But the price... It's fantastic. So fantastic, in fact, that I am a little bit suspicious, not gonna lie.
    BTW, over the last week, there were some complaints about Enya in the groups. Mostly about QC and customer service. I get why QC might've dropped, the brand got v. popular, and are probably backed up with the orders, it's a natural consequence. But I am worried about the customer service complaints, as before, people were going on and on about how fantastic it was. :/

    • @GotAUkulele

    A remarkable instrument. Right in the pocket for appearance, build, tone, apparent playability, and of course, value. I'm interested in your complaint about the tuners. Slop? is this some slack or disconnect between the shaft and the gears, a slippage when turning the button? Is this the kind of issue cured by tightening the screw in the end of the button (if there is one)? Is it instead a flaw in design or construction? An excellent review. Keep 'em coming. I've got to find out if this instrument is widely available in the US.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  4 года назад +1

      Just cheap tuners I'm afraid - geared tuners can't be adjusted that way in the way friction pegs can. The screw on the peg on gears like this really does just hold the peg on the post. Just loose gear mechanism. They hold tune fine, but not fun to use is all. Once in tune all is ok, and I have used worse!

  • @ukeleleEric
    @ukeleleEric 4 года назад +1

    Would be interested to know if you would like the strings better if you used them for D tuning? Not sure if that is what they are designed for, probably not, but I find that some strings sound better when you just tune them up a notch. And some instruments seem to hit a sweet point there.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  4 года назад

      Possibly - but don't believe that is the idea with a uke coming from China - never known them use that tuning. Would apply to a Bruko

  • @kharmaviv

    You had me at sounds like a soprano 😄. I really have been enjoying the soprano a lot lately, but the ones they sell near me have not gotten good reviews. After I saw this video and read the written review, I found this model (in a pretty blue) discounted 20%, so I went for it. I am a little nervous because I live in a subtropical climate (it rains a lot here too). I'm not sure if an all solid wood instrument is good for my location. I have a Leolani ebony laminate; my Nova U Mini for no worry, outdoor play; and a solid top mahogany Aklot, but I have never had an "all" solid wood ukulele before. My other concern is that no matter how careful I try to be with my ukuleles, I always end up scratching, scuffing, and bumping them. I have no defense for this; I just enjoy playing them. Here's to hoping for a good outcome. 🍻😃

  • @addaiiablues

    Hey Barry, would you be up to making a vid about the differenci in age-ing between xpl, laminate and solid? I undestand the difference between them here and now but i have no experince in regards to the long term of the laminate and xpl. Love the channel, take care!

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  4 года назад +2

      Don't think that would stretch to a video - only for the simple reason that HPL and laminates do not change with age - they stay exactly the same forever! Solid woods can change - but not necessarily - and the subject is wildly subjective.

    Hi, I'm new to the ukulele world, and I just got a great deal on this ukulele, but I don't like the strings. They are too floppy for my taste. I like a more beefy string I can feel. Also, this uke doesn't sound much better than my laminate one. I would love to give it a sweeter sound with more sustain. Do you have any string recommendations? Thank you for your reviews. They help a lot.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  Год назад

      Sorry - have a policy of never recommending strings - not to be unhelpful, it's just a totally subjective thing. I've seen people argue about the same string set - one saying they are bright, one saying warm - yet they are both right (we all hear and play differently). My advice is just to buy a few sets and trust your own ears as to what you like

    I’m not a wood expert but it looks more like the African Sapele Mahogany than traditional mahogany used. I’ve cut mahogany trees before and have seen the wood cure it is more reddish/darker than this wood. Still good for the price but I’d be intrigued if someone has compared the woods side by side.

    • @Oliv3Cruz
      @Oliv3Cruz 4 месяца назад

      Long time later but found an answer from my research It looks like this wood is Khaya. The distinct “pencil line like strokes in the grain pattern tend to differentiate it from Honduran mahogany. Sapele has a slightly lesser reddish-brown hue and more of a golden to dark reddish brown than khaya. Fun wood facts to share I guess.

    Baz, what camera are you using? I recently bought a Zoom Q2n-4K, which shoots (croppable) 4K video and has exceptional x/y-aligned microphones, although I’m still learning it. The lens is extremely wide-angle and, if I position the camera close enough for a solo shot without cropping, I’m so close that the mics pick up the sounds of my nails hitting the strings. You don’t have that issue, so I assume you’re using something else.
