6 x 6s are plenty for lake boats and lifts. If you are on the coast, and have a 10k or more boat that is 30 feet or more you are going to do pilings with a 4 post set up. Especially with triple or quad engine set up. I am considering a 4 post lift with pilings for my dock and can easily fit it inside the slip with the extra width. Remember, this video is about a lake dock, not a coastal dock.
6x6s and not piling...youre nutz....full piling and at least 6 ft deep if not more....neighbor has a mess but its not a hard repair
