    My son 33 was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer. When we found out stage i was blown away. He like you age. Belong to a bike club . Rode 176 miles 2 weeks before finding out .healthy in shape ate good. Not a junk food eater. So healthy life style means nothing i guess. He just got his port in today . I cried when i saw him after surgery. He starts chemo. He has a great engineer job which he travels he has such a outpouring of support from workers friends everyone from our hometown . Family.stink is he lives 3 hours away so we really cant see him. Unless we go there. Thst np. He got a wonderful wife who will be there all the way shes great. But as a mom as your mom knows its hard . I just cant believe he has rectal cancer it seems unreal . Thanks for your videos bc with your video and you stage 3. I know what to expect. He has a positive attitude and is still working and rides his bike not as far. But he is thin i worry if he gets sick they will have to stop chemo he needs weight on him .what will they do .yea one scared worried mom her.

    I know your strength will return. And the same for me. I do notice that my energy levels are a bit lower, but that's also because I'm older than you. Still, that won't hold me back from enjoying simple stuff such as car-camping. It's been 2 months since my reversal and things have been interesting. I should post a comment on your reversal surgery video for the benefit of others...

    • @SurvivorJelena

      So sorry to hear about your father-in-law. My husband made sure to keep track of all my procedures and treatments and took care of making sure all of the billing stuff was correct and paid on time. It’s a huge thing that I’m glad he watched so that I could focus on making it through all the treatments and healing. Just be patient with him and also ask him periodically if there is anything else you can do to help will go a long way. 💙 I hope all goes well for him.

      A very simple thing you can do is just ask him how he feels? How do you feel physically? Mentally? Spiritually? Cancer patients frequently are reluctant to open up a conversation about how they are feeling. Having someone else do that is very helpful. Unfortunately for me I frequently had to bring up the topic of how I was feeling.

    First thank you for these incredible videos... My wife has been diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer her surgeon and oncologist treatment plan is 4 months of chemo folfox 8 sessions then chemo pill/radiation to try and shrink the tumor
    (the cancer seems to be localized with 2 lymph nodes showing swelling) at this point of the treatment with luck the oncologist said the tumor could be dissolved but if not then LAR surgery. I'm wondering why her treatment is folfox chemo first then radiation then surgery? Any thoughts?

    • @SurvivorJelena
      @SurvivorJelena  2 года назад +1

      I have seen some others that are stage 3 that do both FOLFOX and chemo pill/radiation first, but I haven't spoken to a doctor as to why there are the differences in the order of treatment.

  • @NitaM1272
    @NitaM1272 Год назад

    Hey my oncologist told me today since he removed 4 lymnodes and some cancer cells are still present 8 more weeks of oral chemo put a damper in my day but will help with no recurrence so more time with ostamy.

    After reading the stories of cancer I am so surprised that most of the reports are from people who are relatively young and athletic. People who you would think would be the last to be diagnosed with such a deadly disease. It's quite a mystery.

    • @SueCL1480
      @SueCL1480 7 месяцев назад

      @eden7440 humm it really isn't a mystery. The interesting and common thing among these young people who all got Colon cancer at such a young age is that they all were vegetarian! Lots of pesticides in fruits and vegetables and grains.

    Can I ask you something, did you get any FIT occult blood test before getting colonscopy? Also , you got diarrhea, but how many times you were used to go to the toilet during the day? Thanks

    • @SurvivorJelena
      @SurvivorJelena  4 месяца назад

      The FIT test (or other stool based tests) are only for people that aren’t experiencing symptoms. Once you have symptoms they want to do a colonoscopy to see what’s in there causing the issues and can take biopsies or remove polyps immediately.

    Great to hear you are fine! But it is sad to hear those young people diagnosed with colon canser who think that food, life style or being overweight contribute more to canser then living the life as you "should" as hundreds of people here on RUclips says, and are so shocked over getting canser because they think that it's impossible for them to get it.. Well the brutal truth is that this made up risk factors, have little or nothing to say if you getting canser or not! On the flip side i have yet to seen one persons story here on youtube that was what i would call overweighted, before or at the time of diagnose.
