Hope in the future we have a better prep like just 1 pill 🤷🏻♀️
I am doing my prep right now. I was told to mix my prep w 2 32oz bottles of gatorade. I am using one lemon lime and one 33oz bottle of grapefruit sparkling water at room temperature. This is my 5th or 6th colonoscopy, and this flavor combo is PERFECT. I am so relieved.
PUN INTENDED. 😅
Do you get adominal pain?
@@misharas317 Don't use regular sugar drinks. You want a sports type drink that has lots of sodium (and hopefully potassium) in it. It's dangerous just drinking flavored water (water toxemia.)
Thank you this is the best video I have seen as I prepare tomorrow
How was it 😅
1-12-23 yesturday iv had a colonoscopy and Gastronoscopy every thing went good ,bowl prep was ecxellent in Drs report ...Glad its over..went home same day..
Was everything good?
Thank You 😊 Nice CLEAR directions.
Thank you for the comments… I’m in the middle of my prep right now and I needed a good laugh OMG
I am 74 and weigh 102 pounds. This prep is stressing me out . I have a 6:30 AM appointment.
@alternateName600 I hope there alright 😬
Eat a burrito
Mine is on Monday. I am stressed out because I have lupus and am prone to getting lightheaded. How did you do? Do you have any tips?
Hope it went well. Mine is this week and I’m scared
Thank you! All the instructions was easy to understand.
Excellent video that lists what to eat / drink before a procedure. Best video on here!
They gave me Peglyte = polyethylene glycol and electrolytes. PEG is human grade anti-freeze! And it is gross to drink. Not to mention that you have to drink 2 litres in 1 hour then another 2 litres 5 hours before the procedure. It is the same thing as Golytely just a different brand.
Bowel movement is an overstatement. Anal squirting is a more apt description.
Eddie Murphy went though the same process and they found a GI Joe in his G.I. track. Went in as Corba came out as Duke the Doc said.
Prescription prep? Just get a 238 gram bottle of Miralex and mix it with clear Gatorade, and a couple of Dulcolax pills. I actually ate eggs and white bread the day before my procedure and my physician rated my prep a 10 out of scale of 10. Look at what recent studies are saying. People who eat a small amount of macaroni and cheese the day before do perfectly fine in conjunction with the prep drink.
I found the lego block I ate as a child.
😂😂😂
My GI doc had to biopsy all the years of swallowed gum.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
OMG that's so funny!! 😂😂
Afterward I felt guilty about eating normal and dirtying it up again.
Best video I’ve come across. Thank you.
Thank you for this information. My colonoscopy is tomorrow.
Clear and unambiguous description 👍🏾👏🏽
Thank you 🎉 amazing explanation
Thank you for this video.
Thanks kindly very well explained process.
so helpful thank u
The last time i drank that stuff i got sick as a dog. Its just entirely too much liquid.
great information......thanks.....
Thank you for the
Information .
Drinking half of that in one sitting is absolutely ridiculous
Thank you for this video. I'm in prep mode today with my procedure set for tomorrow morning. My prep is going okay so far, they gave me GaviLyte-G and have had my first five 8-ounce servings (15-minute intervals), there's a lot to go but I've been through the colonoscopy process before.
So I have to start this drink 3 hours before my procedure, and finish within 2 hours…. Then drive 1 hour to the hospital?? I’m going to shit myself.
Happens to the best of us
Wear a diaper.
Don't believe this nonsense in this video. It's not complicated. You just mix and drink the stuff the day before. Drink a cup every 3 minutes or so. It will clean you out for the probe the next day.
Thank you..
How much crystal light can you put in it?
This was very helpful
Going through this now I have surgery Tuesday. 😩😩
I am a vegetarian. Is vegetable broth okay for the clear liquid diet
Yes
Tomato juice with the miralax is great. It's a bloody mess though.
My wife took this years ago. She could only drink half. Stuff is awful. Now they use Sutab tablets with water. 1000 times better.
My Dr won't let me do it that way, I have to drink all the 🤢 gross stuff , idk why 🤬
I used the SuTabs weeks ago. It barely worked for me, so they stopped the colonoscopy early. Now I have to redo it , using the liquid this time. 😐
A colonoscopy is such a pain in the ass.
😏
Not when the camera grazes your g spot 🥵
It sounds terrible. I have my first one next week. I’m watching videos and reading things. The papers my dr sent with the drink says I have to drink 8 oz every 10 min until entire jug is done. There are certain things if said stay away from eating for 2 days. Some videos I’m watching says stop eating certain things for 5 days before. I’m wondering if it all depends on how well you digest things. I’m going to start 5 days before by not eating fruits and veggies , beans , nuts etc and just eat very bland things like chicken and rice , broths , jello. Sucks
@@ccalexander1924the procedure itself is nothing,it’s just the prep, that drink is the hardest part, be prepared because that drink is absolutely vile, you just gotta plug your nose and down the hatch. Like I said the actual procedure is nothing,
@@lylesommers5018plugging my nose did nothing. My tastebuds were throwing up.
What about orange jello?
Absolutely not don't risk it just green jello please
Im 22 and have to get this done💀
Same ☠️
Are you getting checked for ulcerative colitis or crohns?
These instructions are clear as MUD. Want to know how to really use this medicine, without the monotone, gaunt nurse or the stupid background music?
1) On the day before your colonoscopy, you mix the golytely.
2) You don't eat anything.
3) Drink 8 ounces of the golytely every 30 minutes until it's gone.
4) Go to the bathroom and "let it all out" as needed.
4) Next day, go get reamed.
Any questions???
Try miralax prep this golighty is horrible
My doctor told me since I'm younger I cannot have miralax prep but gavilyte g
Golytely is murder. Bloody gross.
@@jayneo2693 well I have to suffer than because I have to do it wish me luck next week 🥺
I no drink a Gatorade
Is ok mixed Miralax to water
Gatorade has electrolytes, but water doesn't. If you were just taking water, I think you would need to figure out a different way to get electrolytes. For example, I make my own with salt, potassium etc for my own daily hydration needs, so maybe there are alternatives to gatorade. Coconut water and broths have some electrolytes in them, for example.
I don't know what is required for colonoscopy prep though, so you should ask your doctor about this. You will be losing a lot of electrolytes and not having the right amount and ratio of electrolytes during this process could potentially make you feel ill and give you dehydration complications I imagine. (saying this as someone that just deals with dehydration issues, not medical advice)
Hold on do we do the low firber diet 2 days before the colonoscopy or 5 days before it ?
The instructions on my paper say 5
I was told you don’t have to, but doing a low residue diet is easier on your tummy when you do tje prep.
can the day OF your colonoscopy can you still drink the clear fluids like broth etc or only the prescribed solution?
Clear fluids ok … butnothing at all, not even a sip of water three hours before. That’s cause they’re going to sedate you, and they don’t want you to aspirate liquid into your lungs. I’m going to go without sedation, they told me I can, but I bet they’re not going to like it because they want patients to just lay there like a brick.
No liquids whatsoever six hours before your procedure.
The instructions on the same bottle, say keep drinking the entire contents until its completey finished. Not, start drinking the other halve 5 hours prior. Which is it?
Some of the facilities have gone to this split routine because mucous secretions continue to be made after you stop drinking the swill and MAY occlude the visuals of your intestinal lining. If you split the dose less time for this buildup. Unfortunately this can mean getting up on the middle of the night to start the second portion if your appointment is early in the morning since you have to gag it down AND finish up a few hours hours before then. At least you’ll nap through the procedure!
Thanks Sue, it wasn’t that bad, not in a hurry to do it again though haha! The nap was nice. Haha
Well, my problem with it is just the sheer volume of what you have to drink. It could be something I like ordinarily like lemonade for example, but that amount of anything to drink is just difficult. In order to make things easier I eating a lot less food in the days leading up to the procedure. (Less input, less output!). Once I’ve reached the half way point things are pretty cleared out. My 6th colonoscopy is coming up later this week, lucky me!
@@suebell5870 6? That is a lot of naps! Hope all goes well for you. I agree, way to much to drink at one time. The taste was not that bad, just the amount was tough. Good luck to you Sue.
@@therustyduck5400 Thanks. Family history of colon cancer (grandmother) and polyps found on every scope. Got the jug today, cheers!
Someone please Kll me....I am in the process of my procedure next day...and I am scare...aaaaahhhhhhhhahahaaaa I am scare and I am nervous.....
I was told by a physician that red and purple liquids are ok. She said to me "A doctor should know the difference between a colored liquid and blood".
Rather not take that chance tho lol
None says that. I've had 3. Will have 4th next month. Don't want to have to repeat bcs they can't see clearly
The worse prep ever. There are better ones
Stop with all this nonsense eating all that garbage. Just go on a fast the day before, it wont kill you and is very beneficial in itself.
It’s not nonsense to maintain your electrolytes. It can help to prevent weakness and fainting which is especially important for elderly and medically fragile patients.
I'm seriously screwed because I don't consume any of that crap, but I can't go a whole day without eating, I get nauseous, lightheaded, and dizzy. I don't think I can do this procedure.
@@pugernoufer you can eat that “crap” for a day. It won’t kill you. Colorectal cancer, on the other hand, can kill you if not detected early enough via colonoscopy.
@@RachelJane101 "electrolytes": a pinch of sea salt in your water with a bit of lemon juice
@@redrustyhill2 That’s inadequate for elderly/medically fragile.
They said my procedure will take approx 30 min. No one said 3 hours lol

I was given the Golytely.. but told to drink it ALL the evening before.
That’s what my directions say !
On your Table everything so unhealthy products, except Chicken Broth
Clear liquid diet Soda juice coffee apple juice jello no red or purple colors clear chicken broth or beef broth
So why do the doctors keep changing the brand of cleanse? I used one different from what I have to use now
Thank you so very much for such a detailed and clear video!!!!
My doctor said I can take MiraLAX instead of Golytely junk
What's the difference? Does it taste better?
@@novelist99 yes, mixed with Lemon-Lime Gatorade :)
this is going to be tough, I usually only drink coffee with milk, definitely no soda or cool drinks, and I hate green tea...the jelly is the only thing edible on that table really... Some days I just love being on the spectrum. Also have no idea how I;m going to drink that much liquid.
hey! how did it go?
@@crikkit9299 onl;y scheduled 9 days from now
👍👍
I'm a vegetarian, fruits and vegetables are all i eat. I can't go a whole day without eating.
What about rice
@@Samiscool114 You can eat rice?
Yes. Actually you CAN go without eating for several hours.
I think it's more about the fiber in them...as that takes longer to break down -- you may be able to eat "low fiber" fruits and veg (no skins, seeds, red colour) if those exist?
I'm doing my prep today for tomorrows procedure. I haven't eaten since dinner at 5:30 yesterday. 😅
Hi my name is Thea and I'm 26: I have question? Can I have sushi and cook oysters in resturant called Ikeda in London?
Only if they let you in the kitchen.
