I lost my mind a couple years ago and took apart my 450 to clean the carb and gas tank..and there it sits. Stumbled across this video and am inspired to at least try to put it back together. I look forward to watching more of your videos. This one is extremely helpful.
Just found this video and have been inspired to dig out an old project 450, thanks!! From working on my Honda VTX, and repairing Japanese electronic equipment at work, I've got a tip for you. Get a good set of JIS bits and screw drivers. These things use JIS screws, not Phillips. Subtle difference, but the right drivers make the work much easier and with almost no stripped screw heads.
Thanks for doing what you do! Your 350 rancher rebuild video helped me out big time on a project i just finished up. She's had some slop in the crank. I decided to do it myself after watching that video. Shes running great now.
Question…. I installed some tusk heated grips and tusk heated seat pad, then a couple days after is when my bike started idling really bad. I didn’t even consider it draining my battery and making it run weird so I started adjusting that idle screw thing … the long black one… and I think it did something to carb. Idk. I could spray carb cleaner in the throat and it would start at least but I took carb out and cleaned it like ur video… am hoping it’ll start when I get it back in but idk if the carb was even the issue at the beginning
How do you put the metering valve spring onto the needle that goes into the bellow or flange? Mine came off and have no idea how that v shaped spring goes back on
Hey man I have a 98 Honda recon 250 and I need some help replacing bearings I’m 15 and not too sure how to do it I’m learning as I go would u be able to help me
What if I don’t have a vent line at all? I’ve cleaned the carb just like you and it still runs shitty. Run great when choked. Won’t idle long. Acts really cold natured. Maybe it is the missing vent line on the gas cap. ??
Personally I would love to see you put it back on just to make sure I got every vacuum hose and everything done exactly like you do which I know in your mind is like it's like ABC is nothing but to the rest of us out here be surprised some of the simplest dumbest things in your your mind or the things that we do but other than that greatly appreciate the video
I got a 1998 Forman 450 or 400 and the battery stopped working and it starts to bog down and then fan starts up when I pull start it nothing electric works got any help?
@FourwheelerDoctor Hey, I was wondering if you could help me out with a problem I have with my Honda Foreman from 2012. It does not start well, and idles for a little bit, but if I rev it up, it does not go back to idle, it just dies. I then need starting fluid to get it going. I've tried to replace the throttle body entirely with OEM parts, I cleaned the gas tank, put it clean fuel with stabilizer, replaced fuel pump. I feel like it is a calibration issue but I don't know what to do at this point.
Or brake cleaner, make sure you have on safety glasses. Either one of these products in the eyes will be several minutes of the most intense pain that you will ever experience.
I had messaged about a 2016 honda foreman 500 we did a rod replacement and can't get it to start and all the timing is lined up we think it's pushing air out the intake and advice?
You can't believe how much I appreciate your videos but I couldn't see what you were talking about in the beginning I'm assuming you're talking about the vent hose that sticks to the into the top of the gas cap for the tank but it wasn't actually in the screen so as a person who's not as learned as you obviously which I'm trying I think that's what you were talking about if I'm wrong please let me know because I've got a 500 Foreman that I'm having the worst time getting it to run I mean I've got a new cylinder new piston new rings new everything and this thing ran before I put the new piston in the new rings in it I mean it ran it just needed to be freshened up ran perfect as soon as you hit the button boom it cranked no problem and then I put the new cylinder and new piston and new rings and you know new gasket kits and all that put it on put the carburetor right back on and it'll idle for a few seconds and then cut off I can't push the gas to make it run and even if I could it won't either morning a couple seconds and then just cuts off and I just changed out a stock cylinder with another stock cylinder and another stock piston and stock rings and I just cannot figure it out for nothing I don't know what has happened cuz it ran perfect before it just was you know it's a 2005 model it's old so I am stumped on this thing and I've been working on it for weeks and I just can't figure it out
Very informative. I appreciate how you make sure we can see what you're doing and looking at. Super helpful stuff - thank you!

Awesome information, thanks! Like, knowing I need to remove the idle mixture screw all the way or the engine might not run right, that's good stuff
I'm speaking from experience lol. Glad I could help
Thank you so much for the in depth video!!! Exactly what I needed. Really appreciate you taking the time to make that!!

I have cleaned my carb multiple times. It runs great when you hit the gas it pops and back fires
Carb settings are off
How u get the damn black plastic on top of the gas tank back on???? Been fighting it for hours .

Never seen a 450 Foreman that at least one of the air box mounting tabs wasn't broken.
That is a good point. There aren't many out there. Lol

Like the video, very instructional. A word of caution, when you spray these orifices on the carburetor body with carb cleaner or brake c

@@brianmcneese9659 oh yes I have been there done that. Safety glasses will save you a lot of pain.
How do I get in touch with you to work on my raptor
Get you a vapor honing machine. It will clean the brass and the carburetor body up like it’s brand new

If it is pushing air out the intake the timing is off.
Why brake cleaner and not carb cleaner?
I have issues in the past with carb cleaner making the o rings fall apart on some of the early carb I cleaned.
where are you located?
South Carolina
