    I disagree, Michael.
    As I said earlier protecting the compression gauge from fuel ingress is not "very wrong". To do that you need to unhook the pump and drain the bowls.
    Also, keeping the fuel out of the exhaust and cylinders when you don't intend to run the engine is not "very wrong" either.
    Not grounding the plugs for 3 seconds while you crank the engine over 5 times is not that big of a deal. We're not talking about setting idle mixture for 3-5 minutes on each cylinder, and letting the other hang about ungrounded. We're taling about seconds.
    If one drinks 2 bottles of wine every everning, yes, you can call that person an alcoholic. If they only drink 2 glasses, you can't. Same applies here. It should have been grounded regardless, for safety's sake but the fact it wasn't does not negate all the useful information this channel has conveyed so far.
    Don't get your knickers in a twist, mate.

      Since you mentioned it, even though if only a few turns I do put a spare plug in the cap and ground it, just to make sure. There is nothing wrong with critics which we can all learn from, what was a little too much is the way you presented it, not what you were trying to say... We all good mate, no hard feelings, you are always welcome to comment here and on Facebook 😉👍

    Dear Midland Cruiser, you are getting better and better at this. Your video is interesting and entertaining. I bet if you directed the new Star Wars movie, it would not be so awful as it is now. Your motorbike is in mint condition. I see you still have the Aprilia, (it was in the background), and you have Midland Cruiser cap now. Cool. Thank you.

      🤣Yes the cap is new, but the bike is gone long time ago. I recorded it back in the summer, probably around May... Just didn't have time to edit it...
      Haven't seen SW yet, so I don't know.
      Thank you for the compliment 😉

      Well.. There is a few things to check, and do. I even mention one of them when I do the front cylinder, I might have spoken a bit quiet, but I say "it may be higher because of the valve clearance" that is basically the 1st thing to check.... There is a few more but not writing it down here. I might just do a video about it 🤔🤔😁

    Hello mate, I watched your video again and hope that you're well. My bike still runs well, so my two carb jobs were great. Any idea what different jets into a Hitachi type II have to come when you use former 750 Hitachi carbs for an 1100 cc engine?

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser  3 года назад

      Hello...I'm sorry but I have no experience with the Hitachi carbs, but all I heard that they are not very good, no idea about the jetting sorry..

    Mate, Hope you're doing well. Just a question regarding the colour of the spark plug of your front pot. When I changed to Cobras, I had the same colour, but then read that it was too lean and gave the pilot screws a 1/4 at one and 1/2 at the rear. Now I have a healthier colour, for sure not too lean. The porcelain was white but not reddish, I would have left it because it ran just fine. Now they're both the same colour, but not white anymore.

      @MidlandCruiser  3 года назад

      Hi, thanks all good here. Regarding your question, my plugs were only used for like 30miles that's why they look like new. After a few hundreds of miles the color went darker, but not just enough so I did the same and turned the pilots out 1/4. If you watch my carb problem video I show the plug in that video and you'll see how healthy it is. I don't remember exactly how much turns out I am but it is nearly 3, with open full stainless steel system and stock intake...and no worries about the comment I wouldn't do youtube if I can't take some grilling😁😉👍

      I have both the Clymer and the Haynes as well, sometimes 1 is missing something and the other has it...Haynes is very good with good illustrations and it's available free from the Virago Nation Facebook group as a pdf download, clymer as well actually 😉👍

    Do you leave opposite side spark plug in?

    • @MidlandCruiser
      @MidlandCruiser  Год назад

      Yes, it is a lot quieter because it doesn't blow the air out through the plug hole and also simulate better real running conditions...

  • @sisaketmike
    @sisaketmike 4 года назад

    My apologies. I've written something that I didn't mean. Sorry, mate.

      Thank you for your very detailed critics.
      Yes I didn't ground the plug, but yet to have a problem with my coils or TCI, I don't think they would fail or break during a 4 second crancking.
      The plug is white because it only has like 50 miles in it, but yes it was a little lean when I drilled the black widow exhaust out, since it has been jetted.
      Yes no need to drain the petrol or disconnect the fuel pump, but this is my bike and I don't want unburned petrol in the cylinder which washes down the oil, and actually ends up in the oil..
      I still think this is the safest way to perform this test, however not grounding the plug may casue issues, but hasn't for me.
      Also no need to call me an idiot.
