Yamaha Virago 700-1100 lubrication - known and lesser known issues

Key points:
filter orientation
banjo bolt axial bore
clutch cover MUST be used with matching oil filter cap
oil seal is worth replacing if you're already taking the cover off
check external oil pipes w. brake cleaning spray
...and make sure your filter is not old, weathered but fresh, recently produced
