Agata has prepared a scrapbooking course for a simple Christmas card just for you to prove to you that you can create beautiful greeting cards, even if you don't have much time for scrapbooking. See how easy it is to prepare a handmade card that will attract attention!
Today's scrapbooking course is a simple Christmas card and we answer the question: how to quickly make a card for Christmas? In the video you will learn how to quickly prepare a Christmas card in beautiful shades of beige, white and red. Agata shows step by step the stages of creating a Christmas card:
1) prepare the base and cut the papers to the dimensions you need - remember that the larger piece of paper must be a few millimeters smaller than the base, and the smaller piece a few mm smaller than the first piece - thanks to this you will get an aesthetic border around each layer of paper;
2) prepare a smaller piece of paper before sticking it to the card - you can run its edges with a knurling wheel, just like Agata, and if you do not have a knurl, you can tear the edge of the sheet with scissors - in both cases you will get not only the decorative element of your card, but also you will lift the edges of the paper, thanks to which the sheet will gain spaciousness and dynamics;
3) start building the composition with a round element in the middle - Agata chose a cut-out from a die, the center of which she glued with 3d cubes, thus creating a spatial frame. If you do not have a die cutter, you can place here, for example, a two-layer scrapbooking cardboard, a napkin cutout from a creative block, or just a circle with a border, drawn with a compass - remember that each element of the scrapbooking work can be replaced with something, obtaining a different, but similar the final result!;
4) add the remaining elements of the composition, starting with the largest (flowers) and ending with the smallest (leaves, pearls, etc.).
Agata created a simple Christmas card, choosing a combination of white, beige and red. If you are concerned about working with red, here are some tips for you:
- introduce red in the form of individual elements - let it not be the main color of your work;
- combine red with delicate colors such as white, beige or gray;
- introduce a maximum of 2-3 other colors to your design;
- apply layers and varied textures;
- if, despite the above tips, the red elements on the sheet still seem too intense, you can slightly dampen them with a bit of gesso or white paint or sprinkle them with sparkling glitter.
If you need to make a Christmas card quickly and you don't have the elements prepared in advance, give up making them yourself. Instead of creating flowers from foamiran, use ready-made, shop-paper flowers, and instead of hot embossing or applying a pattern through a mask with structural paste, decide to paste a decorative, openwork cut-out from a die or a piece of lace into the background - this way you will also diversify the texture and you won't have to wait between the stages of working on the card.
