    Is this true about the Waldenses? "Baptism was to be by full immersion in water and was not administered to infants. Eventually, the elements of the Eucharist (bread and wine) were understood as symbols only, and the Waldenses denied the doctrine of transubstantiation," If it is true, then that contradicts the early church father Ignatius. The earliest mention I found of the Eucharist was by Ignacius, the Disciple of John, who states, "They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again."1 If Ignacius believed this, I presume he was taught it by the Apostle John. I would probably lean towards Ignacius unless he is not to be trusted, either. It would seem that the Waldenses would pick and choose what they would and would not believe based on their personal convictions.
    I am a protestant, yet I cannot help but believe that I am being lied to by both Protestants and Roman Catholics. Protestants have a "scholarly consensus" authority; each man believes what he wants, and the fruits of this are 20,000 denominations. Churches are stood up like fast-food joints, each with its own teaching, replacing incense with fog machines, and all claiming that they are confirmed by the Holy Spirit.
    The Roman Catholic church is apostate, creating a Pope who, like Lucifer, attempted to ascend to the throne of God.
    You know who hasn't lied to me? The Orthodox church! At least they have ties back to the Apostles. Oh wait, I think they use the NKJV.
    I guess I will have to follow Clement of Rome's example: "Wherefore, let us yield obedience to His excellent and glorious will; and imploring His mercy and loving-kindness, while we forsake all fruitless labours, and strife, and envy, which leads to death, let us turn and have recourse to His compassion."2

    2. Clement of Rome, “The First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians,” in The Apostolic Fathers with Justin Martyr and Irenaeus, ed. Alexander Roberts, James Donaldson, and A. Cleveland Coxe, vol. 1, The Ante-Nicene Fathers (Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Company, 1885), 7.

      I do not for a moment believe that the Waldenses picked and chose what they wanted to believe from the Bible. Nor do l believe that John the Apostle believed in the Eucharist. There's not even a hint in his writings that he believed in that nonsense. Do you actually believe that that piece of bread is the actual flesh of Jesus?

    • @JewelsofTruth
      @JewelsofTruth  15 дней назад

      The quote you placed in the comments section implies that the Eucharist and transubstantiation were teachings that were accepted in the Christian church all along and that even the Apostle John believed in it. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is absolutely nothing in the Bible that supports that claim. Not even a hint. You say you have been lied to. It appears that you have accepted the lie of transubstantiation and the Eucharist. And the Eucharist teaches that the Catholic priest can actually create his Creator. For Catholics believe that that wafer is the flesh of Christ. What a dastardly teaching!! Complete nonsense.

      @@JewelsofTruth The quote I placed in the text was from Ignacius, a disciple of the Apostle John. Justin Martyr later confirmed it in his apology to Caesar. This is not about what I believe; it is about what the early Christians were taught to believe. Ignacius was taught to believe in a certain way by the Apostle John. In terms of the Eucharist, the Bible teaches, "And he took bread and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me" (Luk 22:19 KJV). Notice Jesus did not say this is metaphorically my body, or a symbol of my body, but that it is His body. I suppose we can argue that the Apostle John didn't understand and then incorrectly explained it to his disciples, but I don't believe that is true. My choice as a Protestant is to believe those who came long after the early Christians and to trust "scholarly consensus" or to walk in faith and believe what the early Church fathers taught. I think in the reformation of the Church (we were right to fight against the Papacy), we threw out the baby with the bath water and, in a knee-jerk reaction, cast away proper understanding for an understanding that we agree with, not one that is true. I say this with love and respect, nor am I trying to be argumentative, but if I can't trust Ignacius, a man martyred for his faith, then who can I trust.

      So, using your logic, when Jesus said in John 6:53, "Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you," He was not speaking metaphorically. He meant exactly that. Eat His body and drink His blood. And how did the Jews take His words? They took them literally. Let this be a lesson for those who believe that that bread in the communion service is literally the body of Christ. God expects us to use our brains. God expects us to be mature adult Christians.

      @@JewelsofTruth@JewelsofTruth So again, it is not my logic; it was what the early Church fathers were taught by the Apostles. Where do you think they got the notion? This is what I am talking about. John 6:53 says, "Except you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, ye have no life in you." My mind in 2024 wants to say it is metaphorical, but the early Church fathers taught that it was not a metaphor. Lutherans believe it, Catholics believe it, Orthodox Christians believe it, and other protestant denominations believe it. But all of them are wrong except you. You know what it really means. You really are the Jewels of Truth.

    There is a fallacy in your question. You are equating the Holy Scriptures with the Spirit of Prophecy. Same error as the Roman church. If you believe in the working of the Holy Spirit, then why rely on extra biblical works?

    • @JewelsofTruth
      @JewelsofTruth  3 месяца назад

      I understand your question. But, think about this. Don't you think that the Jews could say the same thing about the New Testament? They refuse to accept any light beyond the Old Testament Scriptures. I know that people outside of the Seventh-day Adventist church have a problem with the writings of Ellen White because they are "outside" of the Biblical Canon. But, as a whole, the "Protestant" Churches and the "Catholic Church" don't have an argument to stand on, for they seem to have no problem with the many false prophets out there. Billy Graham was a prime example. Biblically speaking, he was a false prophet. The people looked to him as if he were a prophet sent from God. And today there are many more, like Kenneth Copeland. Most prominent of them all are the Popes of Rome. The people look to them as they would God. But the biggest problem with Catholics and Protestants is Joel 2:28, 29. Will they tell God what He can and cannot do with His people and with His word? Will they tell God that He cannot fulfill His word. God works through whom He will. And He works whenever He wants to.
      I would encourage you to at least investigate the writings of Ellen White and test them with the Bible. I came out of the Catholic church 43 years ago and accepted the writings of Ellen White and became a Seventh-day Adventist because l saw that the teachings of the Seventh day Adventist church were Biblical.

      @@JewelsofTruth then you must answer the HISTORICAL aspects of the Bible itself, since it did not fall out of the sky…
      History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century, not only did they not agree but their list of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time. So, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church, guided by the Holy Spirit, that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 5th century, just 75 years AFTER the council of Nicaea which began the Trinitarian doctrine and subsequent councils of Ephesus and Chalcedon, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and preserved these scriptures by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us, show us, who did? And if this church no longer exists today, what good is the text which came forth from her if she couldn't sustain herself?

      Christianity mainly came from the teachings of Jesus who is the Messiah prophesied in Hebrew so yes it has its roots in Hebrew but God opened it up to everyone through Jesus sacrifice
      Remember what is said in John 8:44 "your are of your father the devil" Bible tells us constantly of the Jews straying from God's word and while he will always love and show mercy towards his them no matter how many times the Jews turned their back to him he will always be there for them when they cry out to him and turn back but they continue to stray and corruption infiltrated the foundations (look at Zachariah 8.23, revelations 2:9 and 3:9 also for added context the so called star of david that's never mantioned but a different star is Amos 5:26-27+acts 7:43 soloman brought back a star symbol he shouldn't off 1king 11:4-8 it's known in other groups like witch craft and Hindu aswell) so God decided to give EVERYONE the chance to be saved
      I do agree with Rome being Babylon tho they highjacked and corrupted Christianity just like the Jews foundations got corrupted the devil's a master deceiver but God knew this would happen and warns us constantly but thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus we all have the opportunity to be saved
