  • Welcome back to our official spotlight series, where we sit down and talk about all things tech with the brightest minds in Leeds.
This week, we’re spotlighting George Fairhall, Founder and CEO of Work and Communications (WAC). WAC is an app that helps hourly paid workers keep track of hours, earnings, rotas, bills - anything that’s around hourly paid work. WAC helps them to stay organised and gives users financial security.
George hadn’t planned to be in the tech industry, and she was told a thousand times that there was no way she could do it, but she did! As a female founder since 2019, she’s still learning on the job - as are most founders.
3 main takeaways you can get from this interview are:
    - The importance of understanding your audience and users to improve and develop your product, and listening to their feedback
    - The problem that WAC solves for hourly-paid workers
    - How she overcame the obstacles of being a female founder of a B2C, non-revenue- generating company outside of London.
