    My dad, he used to play this all the time on his guitar. Any time he'd break it out I'd ask him to play 'Rising Sun'. So, this song has a massively significant importance to my life. It is hands down my favorite song, and I collect nearly every version I hear. I know this song inside and outside. So when I say that this is one of the best takes on this song, I absolutely mean it. You took an already powerful and dark song and made it darker and more powerful. You guys have my utmost respect.

Made a CD back in the day of a bunch of covers, and nowadays with internet, enjoyed sending each other different covers we'd find on RUclips. Lots of people have covered this song but this is the first rendition that I think does justice to how musically powerful the original is. I think calling your guys' version a cover is an injustice to how powerful and amazing your version is.

      Melodicka bros. Being actual musicians, unlike the cardi b types, don't so covers. What real musicians do are called transpositions. Because the other types are imitators, they just copy, so it's a "cover".
      Whilst real musicians know their instruments, playstyle, voice range etc are all different, so they adapt the score for their instruments to do it properly.

    • @Gugenbichler

      To be fair, there is no 'original' version of this song. This song has evolved over a looong time. The classic interpretation from the Animals is just the most iconic one.

    • @zenogias01
      @zenogias01 3 года назад +5

      The Animals' version is the most well known, but the original was written from the point of view of a prostitute working in the titular brothel.

      @@Gugenbichler exactly. this song has been around for such a long time and has gone through so many iterations that it would make total sense for a cover like this one to come along and change the vibe completely, as its been done many times with this very song

    A true storytellers' rendition. The music supports the vocals and the vocals convey all the right emotional nuances-- it's enthralling.
    Also, the moment when the bass and percussion begin is transcendent. I could listen to that all day and still get goosebumps from the lush dark tone of them driving the song forward.

    I love the beautiful sense of tension rising and falling throughout the song; there's almost a dread anticipation in his voice, and the way the instrumentals and vocals were interpreted was on point! It was distinct from all the other versions I've heard without sacrificing the gut familiarity that makes the song so iconic. It really is just beautiful.

      The reason the animals version hit so hard back in the day, is that they were legit the first guys to put such raw anguish, pathos and suffering GENUINELY into their music. Eric bogle? Might have been singing an anecdotal story about new Orleans in the lyrics, but everyone KNEW he was actually singing about growing up middle / lower class.

    • @whoathatsalotofdamage3718
      @whoathatsalotofdamage3718 3 года назад

      I've learned it really depends on the cover. Just about any cover muse has done has either been so fundamentally different in tone and overall style that it's hard to compare to the original (feeling good) or a relatively faithful cover with typical muse flair ( please please please let me get what I want). Bad covers in my mind are things like 5 finger death punch taking The offspring's "gone away" and stripping it of every emotional nuance other than anger. It's a song about dealing with the loss of someone and the stages of grief, and while the words are still there in 5fdp, the orchestration and impact is void so it just feels cheap

I think that superficially simple songs are the toughest ones when it comes to standing out without doing anything crazy. Ballads, especially in rock, but also folk will always have a special place in my heart. No matter if simple, or fancy, they usually show how much a singer is actually capable...

This version is an excellent rendition that has not only emotion, energy and vibe, but meaning to it, in the way it portrays the regret and lament of the person of whom the song is about. Many contemporary musicians lack such an ability to interpret a song properly, and rely on energy and vibe alone.
