This makes me think of walking home to my house at night in the dark, with the stars shining and the deer staring at me, and the human noise and chaos well away from me.
A year ago I had an episode of depression and one of the symptoms, quite common in mild depressions as it turns out, was that I felt confused about positivity and negativity of emotions. I listened a lot to your "too bright" and "too sad" songs back then, and I think it helped me in a weird way. It was as if you, with these songs, expressed how I felt. In the end, I think now I understand better that feeling sad can be a good thing sometimes.
