You've saved me alot with my cham i rescued. I was basically given a 2 yr old female veiled chameleon who was very dark, skinny any tired looking. I immediatly ran her under warm water for about 5 mins, she was so parched and dry. Got her a hybrid enclosure, mesh and glass. I do use a fogger and mister, in a 3ft by 3ft by 3.5 ft i made myself. Only cost 90 bucks. A week later she shed completely, puffed up (weight wise) 😂 and looks phenomal. Shes got an arcadia t5 ho 5uvb. Problem is, it isnt worning anymore, so now I have a t8 25uvb which is probably way too much, so i have it about a 8 to 10 inches above her terrarium, and will be getting another t5 ho asap. Feeding her gutloaded crickets, and a superworm 3x a week. I feed her every other day, usually 2 or 3 crickets. I just use flukers dry and wet food for the crickets. So far so good. Shes much lighter in color and even eats crickets off my hand 😂. Her tongue feels so funny. Her poop is also very good. Looks like a little chocolate chunk and the white urea. Hi, sorry i’m seeing this so late, but I have a question. I’m looking to get a chameleon but as a high schooler, I don’t have a great budget. How much does it typically roughly cost to set up a home from scratch? And yes, if i’m spending all that money, i’m going to save up to add the luxuries as well such as the automatic misters and foggers.
hi thank you so much for this video. can i ask if having the fog machine is necessary? because where i live i cant actually get the tempereture below 20/21 C and my vet said it would create mold…
hey just wondering how much you spent on dragon strand hybrid because in one of your videos you mention a cage is about 200 but show your dragon strand which is listed for around 500 i was just confused if you got yours for 200 lol

Hi so I live in Texas and it’s getting hot will I need to leave my heat lamp on all day for my chameleons and what plants do you recommend for a juvenile one

Hello! I was wondering what advice you have to make their enclosure 50-65 at night. At my work we are getting a veiled cham, and the whole room is constantly kept at 75+ (other animals in room need hot). Im concerned we won't be able to lower the temperature enough at night. So yeah any advice for lower temperatures??
Unfortunately there is a lot more wrong with that kit than just the UVB bulb. I would not recommend it and instead suggest the chameleon kit I made with Pangea Reptile: www.neptunethechameleon.com/chameleon-kits and here is my video on the PetSmart kit: ruclips.net/video/es0ZIxj3iIo/видео.html

I got a question what would be a good starter chameleon to go for I’ve been told veiled chameleons were better to care for and some have told me that panther chameleons were better to care for any suggestions?
I would recommend a male panther chameleon since there are lots of great panther breeders and the males won’t lay eggs. Male veileds are a great option too, there’s just not very many reputable veiled breeders currently. Here are some videos that should help: ruclips.net/video/qEmO18fod5w/видео.htmlsi=cZfccZbK8UX-OqDE & ruclips.net/video/uBaU92kvMKQ/видео.htmlsi=1uBMn4knB2_qxNnR
In the store, they always have many chameleons in one enclosure. Is it only OK for babies? When will you put male and female together for fertilizing? And what is the sign that the chameleons are in puberty?
The wattage is dependent on the length of the UVB bulb so pick the one that best fits your enclosure size. What is very important is the strength of the UVB bulb: 6%, 12%, etc. The general recommendation for a 48” tall enclosure is a T5 24W 6%. Hope that helps!
hey there! i really want to get a chameleon for my daughter (and me!) and i really appreciate all of your videos. i just found your content and i believe you to be THE expert lol. im just wondering where would be a good place to purchase one when i have my enclosure ready? i dont want to go to the big box pet stores, and some online places look questionable at best so itd be nice to know how i can make sure im not getting a sick or diseased pet?
This is great, I just got my female veiled chameleon last week but I was wondering if I should turn her screen cage into a hybrid. I currently live in Southern California, so any opinions?
Thank you so much. I’m getting my first one this Summer and you taught me some stuff I didn’t already know. Don’t worry, I have done some research and how to tell what is what. Like I said, thank you for this.
@@NeptunetheChameleonme and my Mom just ordered a 3-5 inch one last night. The enclosure is pretty much ready and it should get here the day after tomorrow.
i recently just got a new veiled chameleon and I've been watching your videos to learn more about them. However the employee at my local petco told me that I should keep the worms in the fridge until l am ready to feed my chameleon. I was also wondering if it is completely normal that my chameleon does not have an appetite
Congrats on the new chameleon! Keeping black solider fly larvae in the fridge can help slow down the pupate process but is not neccesary. And it can take a chameleon up to two weeks to get settled in and start eating.
Omg your videos of chameleons rock! I'm hopefully getting a 2nd hand veiled chameleon with the vivarium and equipment im from the uk and do you like pascal the chameleon from tangled disney? That's my favourite disney animal pascal

Sounds like it could be an upper respiratory infection :( I would get her to an exotics vet ASAP. I talk about URIs a little bit in this video: ruclips.net/video/Rqpy9yOCyc8/видео.html
I really want to get a Veiled Chameleon and your videos are so much help for research on how to care for them! I live in Denver Colorado, so what type of encloser would be the best for me?
Most glass enclosures are too small for a chameleon. If you're looking for something to help hold in heat and humidity I'd look at a hybrid enclosure. Here is my full video on enclosures: ruclips.net/video/wgU5rJkEhSI/видео.html

That enclosure will be too small for a chameleon. But here is my shopping list that also includes enclosures: www.neptunethechameleon.com/shopping-lists
Love all your videos! Thank you for this one as well. I will say "Just pull out your solarmeter" is a bit nonchelant since that's a $250 tool. I have a REALLY nice setup, and I still haven't bought a solarmeter because it's so asenine to consider buying. That being said, we use solar cards that change color. What do you think about that as an option for measuring UV? A video about UV measuring methods would be good. My gf, the wildlife biologist, says we can just use all the plants to measure, and they're happy haha.
You can go off of the recommendations being made by keepers who have tested the bulbs on a chameleon enclosure. There is a great chart in this link: chameleonacademy.com/uvb/ I have heard the solar cards are not very accurate. Solarmeters also help keepers know when it is time to replace their UVB bulbs :)
I wouldn’t recommend doing that. I’d suggest buying from a reputable breeder so that the chameleon is healthy with good genetics. Here is my video on tips for finding a breeder: ruclips.net/video/U7F84ZZ2tfA/видео.html
I literally just learned that I was given the wrong information for my veiled chameleon. I got a 12% uvb lamp +D3 so I'm giving my chameleon way too much of that. I put it higher on the terrarium and immediately bought the reptisun lamp you recommend. Even the vet who is specialized in reptilians gave me the wrong information about the supplements. He told me to use the multivitame everyday. I'm glad I came across your video! A question if I may ask. I don't have a fogger (yet). I do have a mister! Should I mist every morning and evening for about two minutes? Or do I need to mist extra in the evening so that the humidity stays leveled. I would love to hear from you :)
Glad you've been able to make changes quickly!! How often you mist and if you need a fogger totally depends on the natural humidity of where you live. I would start with 2 minutes twice a day and then adjust from there as needed.
hi, i’m worried about my parents chameleon, they got her 4 months ago from a rescue situation, and she looks so small from everything else i’ve seen online. she’s really skinny, but not in the way where you can see bones or she *looks* underweight, but she’s so thin, like a branch. she also sits at the bottom when the lights are off at night, folded up like a leaf, and it takes her awhile to get up. i’m worried they’re unintentionally making her too cold and that’s why she’s like that at night, and i’m not sure what to do to make them listen to me. my mom used to work at a pet store and as much as she doesn’t want to admit it, she uses that as a “i know more than you do about her” thing.
Sorry to hear you're going through that. Veileds do pretty well with lower nighttime temps. Maybe have her watch this care guide video or I have this one on heat bulbs: ruclips.net/video/CGWkNvLTISg/видео.html
Unfortunately a lot of them are sick so I wouldn't recommended buying one from there. Instead you'll want to buy from a reputable breeder: ruclips.net/video/U7F84ZZ2tfA/видео.html
My daughter wants a chameleon. I know as the adult that before I even consider getting any living being, I need yo research what is best for them. After viewing your video I decided not to get one. I'm sure I couldn't provide them with a good environment right now
I got a one year old female, and shes so spoilt lol, she acts like a literal baby, if something frightens her she runs at me, she hates me leaving her alone, and tonight, i went to check on her half hour after her tank lights went off for her bedtime and she refused to sleep so i was petting her, but every time i stopped and tried to shut the tank she gave me a fuckin death stare 😂 idk what I've done but my chameleon acts more like a baby than a chameleon i swear She also has phases like a kid, where one week she hates being in the tank and will literally bang on the glass, other days she's not fussed if u get her out or not and others she wont wanna come out at all 😂
Hornworms grow SUPER quickly so they’re usually too big for baby chameleons after a couple of days. Hornworms are totally fine to feed a cham as long as they’re the appropriate size.
@NeptunetheChameleon I just got my first and only chameleon gave to me a few days ago. The next day I took all the plastic plants out, and replaced them with real. Pathos is one I added, but I'm sure it's listed as poisonous. At least for cats and dogs.
My mom said if I can be organized and for my clothes I can get my chameleon. My dream pet is a chameleon and I’m so happy to get wet. I’ve been googling it is my first pet. I know it shouldn’t be a first pet but I know so much about them, and I’ve been googling for only two days.

Does the wattage of the UVB matter? I'm not sure to get the 24 or the 39 W for the Arcadia
If you're looking for a veiled chameleon, check out framschams.com! Code NEPTUNE saves you an extra $25 off and lets them know I sent you :)
@@NeptunetheChameleon i appreciate that, they look like they do an amazing job!
Love the chameleon
Thank you!
This is great, I just got my female veiled chameleon last week but I was wondering if I should turn her screen cage into a hybrid. I currently live in Southern California, so any opinions?
I've been misting like 4 times a day and the humidity goes down to like 25 still which is way too low
I think a screen enclosure will be totally fine. But monitor the humidity and temperatures and adjust as needed.
Here is my video on how to raise the humidity levels: ruclips.net/video/kNhWocyfJAo/видео.html
Thank you
watching this with my cham on my shoulder thinking "nah this my buddy he comes with me"
Do you still sell the chameleon kits that you made
Sure do! www.neptunethechameleon.com/chameleon-kits
Thank you!!!!! My girl is about to lay her eggs and I’ve had her alive thanks to your vids! She’s a veiled named Ta’lo
Good luck to her with her eggs!
Thank you so much. I’m getting my first one this Summer and you taught me some stuff I didn’t already know. Don’t worry, I have done some research and how to tell what is what. Like I said, thank you for this.
Good luck with your research and chameleon once you get it!
@@NeptunetheChameleon thank you again. I hope he/she lives a long healthy life.
@@NeptunetheChameleonme and my Mom just ordered a 3-5 inch one last night. The enclosure is pretty much ready and it should get here the day after tomorrow.
U helped me get a chameleon thank you
You are very welcome!
Would a glass tank work?
@@thewhatifman Most glass tanks are too small for a veiled chameleon. A veiled needs a 24x24x48” enclosure.
@@NeptunetheChameleon ok thank you
Excellent job, you have been extremely helpful 😊!
Thank you!! Good luck with your chameleon 🦎
Actually I probably won’t get one anymore@@NeptunetheChameleon , I’m not sure I could give it all it needs to live a long and healthy life 🙂.
i recently just got a new veiled chameleon and I've been watching your videos to learn more about them.
Love 💕 the Channel
Thank you so much 🤗
Omg your videos of chameleons rock! I'm hopefully getting a 2nd hand veiled chameleon with the vivarium and equipment im from the uk and do you like pascal the chameleon from tangled disney? That's my favourite disney animal pascal
Yes I love that movie!
@@NeptunetheChameleonthat's one of my favourite disney films
my yemen chameleon is 6 months old and she has recently started gaping quite alot especially when shes in her basking spot. she also makes a cough like noise twice in a row and maybe few times a day. please help!! normal or not ? everything else in her behaviour is normal.
A hybrid enclosure would be a really good option!
I know nothing about cameleons and this video was suggested on youtube. Now I would love t try them out! Ha!
They're really cool animals :)
Can you tell me what you think the best chameleon enclosure that is glass for a chameleon? Thank you you’re a big help!
Most glass enclosures are too small for a chameleon. If you're looking for something to help hold in heat and humidity I'd look at a hybrid enclosure. Here is my full video on enclosures: ruclips.net/video/wgU5rJkEhSI/видео.html
God I want one so bad but I’m so scared with just trying to get the temperature correct:(
You’re welcome to book a video call with me and I can coach you one-on-one to make sure you’re set up correctly! www.neptunethechameleon.com/book-a-call
Hi,im getting a Habistat 90 x 90 x 45 can you send me a list of what i need lights, heater etc.thanks.
That enclosure will be too small for a chameleon. But here is my shopping list that also includes enclosures: www.neptunethechameleon.com/shopping-lists
Thank you very informative and helpful just got a veiled chameleon
Congrats! Hope things are going well with your new chameleon 🤗
Chameleon is my symbol animals.^^
Same :)
There is a great chart in this link: chameleonacademy.com/uvb/
I have heard the solar cards are not very accurate. Solarmeters also help keepers know when it is time to replace their UVB bulbs :)
I was thinking about getting chameleon in the next few years but I wanted to make the right steps! Thank you for this.
My veiled chameleon won’t eat food with the calcium powder on it. Ideas?
Make sure it’s lightly dusted and the bugs are moving around to catch his interest ☺️
Should I get a chameleon from Petco?
I wouldn’t recommend doing that. I’d suggest buying from a reputable breeder so that the chameleon is healthy with good genetics. Here is my video on tips for finding a breeder: ruclips.net/video/U7F84ZZ2tfA/видео.html
Pathos are toxic so how are they safe for Chams if they munch?
@@Reptifitness They’re actually very safe for chameleons to eat!
Great video I love it I was going to make one myself! But you did perfectly 💯
Thank you! 😊
I just got a veiled chameleon and its a baby we don’t know what gender it is
Congrats!! Please watch 16:00 :)
What is the average humidity?
6:49
Can you please make a video on how to get rid of gnats in the enclosure?
I haven’t had that issue so I’m not the best person to make a video on that topic. Chameleonforums.com should have some good threads that will help.
I have a cham and im not sure what to do his eye look odd😢

hi, i’m worried about my parents chameleon, they got her 4 months ago from a rescue situation, and she looks so small from everything else i’ve seen online. she’s really skinny, but not in the way where you can see bones or she *looks* underweight, but she’s so thin, like a branch.
she also sits at the bottom when the lights are off at night, folded up like a leaf, and it takes her awhile to get up.
i’m worried they’re unintentionally making her too cold and that’s why she’s like that at night, and i’m not sure what to do to make them listen to me. my mom used to work at a pet store and as much as she doesn’t want to admit it, she uses that as a “i know more than you do about her” thing.
Sorry to hear you're going through that. Veileds do pretty well with lower nighttime temps. Maybe have her watch this care guide video or I have this one on heat bulbs: ruclips.net/video/CGWkNvLTISg/видео.html
my chameleon watched this video and scratched up the computer i guess you were right when you said don't put two chameleons together
That's funny lol
I with at PetSmart and this just educated me so much. They don't sell anything that you recommend. Sad
Happy to help! Luckily I offer chameleon kits and shipping lists that do offer the right supplies: www.neptunethechameleon.com/chameleon-kits
❤❤❤ nice
Thank you 💚
Are the chameleons good from petsmart
Unfortunately a lot of them are sick so I wouldn't recommended buying one from there. Instead you'll want to buy from a reputable breeder: ruclips.net/video/U7F84ZZ2tfA/видео.html
My daughter wants a chameleon. I know as the adult that before I even consider getting any living being, I need yo research what is best for them. After viewing your video I decided not to get one. I'm sure I couldn't provide them with a good environment right now
I got a one year old female, and shes so spoilt lol, she acts like a literal baby, if something frightens her she runs at me, she hates me leaving her alone, and tonight, i went to check on her half hour after her tank lights went off for her bedtime and she refused to sleep so i was petting her, but every time i stopped and tried to shut the tank she gave me a fuckin death stare 😂 idk what I've done but my chameleon acts more like a baby than a chameleon i swear
She also has phases like a kid, where one week she hates being in the tank and will literally bang on the glass, other days she's not fussed if u get her out or not and others she wont wanna come out at all 😂
I've never been able to hold my veiled. He's a jerk...😂❤
What does it mean if my chameleon makes a whistling sound every like 5 minutes
Could be a sign of an upper respiratory infection. ruclips.net/video/Rqpy9yOCyc8/видео.html
This is ironic I’m getting one today lol
Good luck! Be sure to check out this video: ruclips.net/video/2IESxfzFnmc/видео.html
Let's go...
Whooo! Do you have a chameleon?
@@NeptunetheChameleon yes his name is Cosmo he's doing good
Why do horned worms have to be 6 months
Hornworms grow SUPER quickly so they’re usually too big for baby chameleons after a couple of days. Hornworms are totally fine to feed a cham as long as they’re the appropriate size.
for my birthday on October 22 this year im going to get a pet camelean pet
Awesome! Do you have a breeder picked out?
Looks like you're using golden pathos, isn't that a poisonous plant?
Not at all! Lots of chameleons have safely eaten it 🌱
@NeptunetheChameleon I just got my first and only chameleon gave to me a few days ago. The next day I took all the plastic plants out, and replaced them with real. Pathos is one I added, but I'm sure it's listed as poisonous. At least for cats and dogs.
Ok I guess I don't know how to post a picture lol
RUclips doesn’t let you post pictures in the comments 😅
tum log success ho jaoge kya
My mom said if I can be organized and for my clothes I can get my chameleon. My dream pet is a chameleon and I’m so happy to get wet. I’ve been googling it is my first pet. I know it shouldn’t be a first pet but I know so much about them, and I’ve been googling for only two days.
Lol what facts do you have proving the curly UVB aren’t good ?😂🤡
Great question!! Here is an awesome resource that talks about compact UVB bulbs and includes charts showing the UVI outputs of different types of UVB bulbs: chameleonacademy.com/uvb/ Let me know if you have any questions after reading it.
