24" wheels is ridiculous. I also really dislike having so many features on the touchscreen instead of physical buttons. Touchscreens are a massive distraction for drivers and a safety hazard.
Not to mention a physical button will last for 20 years or more. You're going to start having intermittent issues with a touchscreen within 5 years even on something like a toyota.
@@npsit1 I’m confused on how clear & bright touchscreens are a distraction but searching for a physical button somewhere on the dash is _not_ a distraction. Digital buttons are illuminated, don’t fade overtime, and if they aren’t conveniently in one position all of the time you can put them in a spot that’s most comfortable for you. An actual safety hazard are physical buttons in a group that have lost their faces over the years and you can no longer tell what they operate. or small physical buttons that take your eyes out of the line of sight of the road as the displays are usually at the top of the dash.
@@fewworddotrick that’s because Toyota’s technology is far behind that of *gm’s* and there’s no comparison. Toyota just received touchscreens back again in 2020. These companies aren’t on the same level as far as tech goes and you know it. Although everyone has pretty much followed *gm* in the investment of their own native built in UX systems by going to Google based systems, they don’t all use the same developers nor are they executed the same. I just think ppl around here just really struggle with giving *gm* _their_ credit for what they’ve tackled and got right.
Ah yes the company that still today has a bunch of hybrids on the road that are 25 years old and getting 45 mpg on the *original* battery and transmission fluid is very behind in technology. If being ahead in technology means covering a dash in iPads and using 24" rubber band tires that will cost $2k to replace every 30k miles, I guess I don't want it.
The interior space is definitely better than the current model. I appreciate the fact that they kept physical controls for controlling temperature and AC as well as the headlights and 4WD systems unlike some other vehicles, and whatever climate controls are on the touchscreen, they’re always front and center instead of having to dig through menus to get them, which I greatly appreciate The exterior has also been updated quite nicely. It’s about time the Suburban got full LED lighting in the rear. That’s been a minor nitpick of mine since this generation came out, so I’m pleased that’s been addressed. Back to the interior, I think the interior updates were most important to me. They’ve pretty much addressed most of the nitpicks I’ve had with the current interior while still retaining its max cargo volume and passenger accommodations as well as its towing and hauling ability expected out of a large body-on-frame SUV. And for the High Country trim specifically, I know that 22 inch wheels come standard, but are the 22 inch sterling sliver painted wheels returning on the High Country for 2025? I’ve seen them on prototype vehicles for this refresh, but I’ve never seen any official images of the refreshed Suburban High Country with those wheels. I’d like to know if that wheel design is returning to this trim level for this model year.
We have a 24 suburban rst. Best family hauler on the market. Seemingly unlimited cargo space. Fuel mileage avg 10 L/100. Mostly highway. Very comfy drive.
From primarily a Ford guy, I’ve always been a big fan of the Tahoe/suburban. I think GM does a better job in the full size category compared to the expedition. The new one looks good
I love that these are supposed to be family haulers yet they are priced so far out of the reach of the majority of families who could use one. They need to start making more simple vehicles with less garbage in them at a lower cost that more Americans can afford while raising a family. Granted no one needs a brand new vehicle, brand new vehicles are a status symbol they are for the wealthy and stupid. I’ll stick to my early 2000’s GM’s when they were much more reliable and more simple.
More baseless claims about reliability despite the fact they’ve kept their tried and true powertrains unlike the competition. Now y’all are complaining that Chevrolet updated their technology too much after just recently complaining these truck’s interiors were starting to feel dated. They literally can’t win for losing with some of you and it’s hilarious. Y’all will continue to move the goalposts and find SOMETHING to complain about which has already been proven. I've got to be honest. I hate independent suspension in the rear. I especially don't like the idea of needing air shocks to get any ground clearance. I'm sure it rides incredible and provides more space inside. But, this is a step too close to making the Suburban a minivan. Bring back the 2500 Suburban with straight axles, no cylinder deactivation, super charge it, give it lockers, front & back. Give people what they want, and pay no mind to the government. The government works for us anyway. Not the other way around. I think people have forgotten about that. It would be different if the independent suspension was big and beefy with lots of clearance. I crawled under a Suburban recently and was unimpressed by the suspension set-up.
I really don’t think there’s enough of a market for something like that, at least at the price that an OEM would need to command to make such a product profitable.
@ALMX5DP Unfortunately, you're probably right. It's unfortunate. The old suburban's from the 80s were really cool. The biggest problem with them was that they were very underpowered. Other than that, they were simple to work on and pretty durable. It's just too bad that they can't go with a simpler design because if it's not broken, why fix it.
@@billp5424 maybe stop driving right into large holes in the roadway, especially while driving a heavier vehicle with larger wheels? It’s common sense honestly. What the manufacturers don’t tell you is that part of the increase in price is for the wage increases for their employees. Remember they just had union contracts with pay increases.
@texillini1 pay increases for employees? It much rather the bulk the price increase go to factory workers pay than toward executives bonuses and stock options?
@ Whether one likes it or not, federal law requires corporations to try make a profit for the shareholders. It’s the shareholders that really run the company. What they say goes. The board of directors (BOD) has to answer to the shareholders: the CEO has to answer to the BID, and so on down the chain it goes the bottom man. Shareholders don’t give a darn “how” things are done, all they care about is that they get their return on investment. Shareholders are willing to give out all those perks to the executives in order to get their money. Like it or not, employees are no different than the machines or equipment used in a particular industry. It’s just a means to the end. I’m a locomotive engineer. I’m no different than the locomotive I run or the cars I pull. We both are just a means to the end. A maximum profit for the company which relates to maximum return for the investors. American workers pension funds and 401(k)’s are invested in these companies. While the worker may want his money up front in the form of higher wages and benefits, when the companies make policies (that the worker disagrees with) the bean counters are doing what the shareholders want them to do….. maximize the share price which in the end helps the worker’s portfolio.
Hey Andrey, we need the Ike Gauntlet and The Toaster for both 6.2 and 3.0 liter!! Then we will see if General Menace is any better in their new lineup!!! Great Videos Thank You 🙏
I would love to see Andre drive at 15 miles an hour over a very large. Pothole on camera and then have another camera that's slow motion. Watch the tire hitting the pothole and then compared that test too 18 inch rim that has more rubber on it. I think it would be very interesting to see the contrast between the 2 tires. And I think it would be a much more thorough test, because out here in Massachusetts, and on the East Coast as a whole, our roads are absolutely terrible. Also, Michigan has some pretty rough roads too. Especially detroit and driving over potholes is normal for us, so we need a vehicle that we can have full confidence in that can handle a harsh bump and not get damaged
I'm not biased towards a specific brand but the Tahoe would be an easy target for the Ford Expedition, I'd go with the Ford, because GM didn't put enough effort in. It looks very old and traditional from the outside and from the inside as well, the difference between the two vehicles is like the difference between a student and a professor.
The real question is, has GM improved their 3rd row seating compared to the 1st 4-ish generations? For years: no foot space, 2nd row seats that don't adjust fore and aft, low seat/high floor, etc...
The 3rd row on suburban is amazing. Ever since they ditched that solid rear axle for an independent rear suspension, 3rd is excellent in Tahoe and Suburban. Suburban is one of the only 3 mainstream SUVs that can match a minivan in terms of cargo and people hauling ability.

Problem is when it’s starting at 55-60k, people demand some luxury and features and not a complete utilitarian car. The Land Cruiser went that route of being utilitarian and all I see is people complaining about it starting at 60k and having clutch seats and manual seats standard. People who want utilitarian assume cheap too, and automakers won’t deliver the latter.
Tahoe and Suburban cost much as what an Escalante used to cost severely years ago. In five years, they might cost what an Escalante cost now. Oh well, it doesn't stop people from buying.
I would never purchase a Duramax 3 L diesel, knowing that the dumbass engineers put the oil pump and its belt in the rear of the engine, between the engine and transmission. Meaning, when you need to replace that belt, the entire transmission has to come out of the vehicle costing several thousand dollars to replace a $40 belt. If GM changed that belt to a gear or a chain, then I, as well as many other people, would get that Duramax 3L diesel in one of their truck trucks
Fast Lane Truck has NOT realized that these cars are to expensive. No one wants to pay the price for these anymore. I think you guys need to start talking about more sub 30,000 dollar cars that people CAN afford. I believe these still have those engine issues.
They need to change the suburban Tahoe and Yukon lineup GM needs to make these a better looking vehicle because they have looked like this for years small changes that don’t equal a lot in the looks department of the exterior
But has GM figured out how to fix the problems with V8 engines having lifters and camshafts fail? I know several folks who had trucks who suffered these failures out of warrantee.
Why did GM reduce the size the of the fuel tanks? They used to be 26 gallon for Tahoe/Yukon and 31 gallon for the longer wheel base. People always want to focus so much on towing numbers. Look, they do their research on their customers and MOST people will never tow even what the current max capability is. Ford loves to claim their 1/2 ton chassis can tow 12,000+ lbs and that’s down right dangerous. I don’t think GM needs to adjust anything with their towing capability.

I appreciate the fact that they kept physical controls for controlling temperature and AC as well as the headlights and 4WD systems unlike some other vehicles, and whatever climate controls are on the touchscreen, they’re always front and center instead of having to dig through menus to get them, which I greatly appreciate
The exterior has also been updated quite nicely.

From primarily a Ford guy, I’ve always been a big fan of the Tahoe/suburban. I think GM does a better job in the full size category compared to the expedition. The new one looks good
The new expedition with the multi colored tailgate looks terrible.
@@pryme2013 I agree that my least favorite thing about it. Also the oval shaped steering wheel and the ridiculous screen layout
@@msokes9 Yeah both misses. We had a 2005 expedition and it was a nice suv
Then why do they sell so many of them to families 🤔
I wish manufacturers would update the quality control and reliability instead of just cramming more tech in them and letting the reliability tank
Y’all literally complain about the pricing while simultaneously complain that they’re too nice and too advanced in technology and features/comfort. It’s mind blowing.

The 24” rubber band tires will be fine in Texas but last winter in Colorado I lost two 45 series tires on 17” wheels to potholes.
sounds like a good continuous revenue stream, whats the problem
Yea 24" is fine for all those real smooth potholes...
I don't want to even think about the costs to replace the tires 😕
They look absurd. I don’t like anything more than a 18” wheel
@@billp5424 maybe stop driving right into large holes in the roadway, especially while driving a heavier vehicle with larger wheels? It’s common sense honestly. It’s not just bad for the tires and rims, making a habit of driving into large potholes isn’t good for your suspension system either. Might as well drive into the median or over a speed bump going 50 mph. 🙄
Beautiful top tier trucks. The diesel is a great idea too.
With all the emission controls that come with it, and lack of longevity- makes no sense

Good informative video. Thanks Andree.

Does the 6.2L still use cylinder deactivation? Absolute deal breaker.

The wealthy Chinese market will love them.
Chinese like it, but not L3B
I'm not biased towards a specific brand but the Tahoe would be an easy target for the Ford Expedition, I'd go with the Ford, because GM didn't put enough effort in. It looks very old and traditional from the outside and from the inside as well, the difference between the two vehicles is like the difference between a student and a professor.
One thing is for certain, these two vehicles really result in a lot strongly held opinions on what should or should not be.
The first 60k will be a joy and then, you better have a good mechanic.
I like the engine choices!
Prices are ridiculous.
Love our 2021 Tahoe Z71 (2nd Gen. 2021 built from mid-June '21 onward) ... it's awesome! (BTW, don't buy a 1st Gen. 2021, made before June 2021, which has the Auto Start/Stop feature ... lots of engine problems, ... I know I had one for four months).
But I think I have to upgrade to the 2025 Tahoe maybe the RST trim this time around but no 24's, the 22's will suffice although I enjoyed the 20's on the Z71 to accidently roll over curbs on tight turns at times (it's a big vehicle) without damaging the rims.
Just found your page. Impressed with your presentation skills and dissemination of relevant info. Most others mean well, yet waste too much time sharing unimportant info that has become homogeneous from one evaluator to another. Thanks! Keep up the good work! 👍

like the Z71 tahoe. just wish it was more utilitarian ..than a 3 row luxury family school bus . needs high payload and towing and lot of us off roaders, car campers, overlanders have no need want or will ever use a 3rd row like a bench seat up front so if I build our a kit still have a 3 passenger wagon but most dealers will opt out the Z71 with every luxury opt

Good Morning🌞 Sir
Which City In Texas USA 🇺🇸
By the time the dealer gets it, that fully loaded Suburban will be 100k
I wish there was a small truck with a small turbo diesel

I love the work that’s done here especially from Tommy and Andre but I MUST say this…in TFL comments are always weirdos trying their absolute best to fear monger folks into buying a underwhelming and cheaply built Japanese competitor or they’re just in the comments complaining that they can’t afford the *gm* product as if Toyota has the best pricing in the marketplace, offer superior trucks and undercut their competitors. These folks struggle to find faults with these refreshed Suburban/Tahoe models so they’ll complain about the price and try convincing you it doesn’t make sense to buy them before suggesting you to go to a Toyota dealership and be price gouged for a Sequoia with a copy/paste Tundra pickup truck’s interior, very little space in third row, virtually no cargo space behind the third row, a V6 engine with major issues, and a lazy execution in tech and overall engineering. You can’t make this stuff up.

Not good enough guys. TFL is still my favourite review channel but sometimes the appearance of bias is evident this is not so good. :)
*gm’s* quality and reliability can no longer be compared to that of Ford’s who is abysmal at best. Roman definitely has a bias against *gm* and always nitpicks and tries to rag on their products especially when compared to a Ford. The difference is *gm* justifies their price increases.
