- Опубликовано: 17 июл 2021
- The former New Haven Railroad west track between Van Zandt and Newport, RI station will be restored. A section of the west track is still in place but will need work as it was last used in 2016. The section south of the in place track was removed in 2018. These two sections will be rebuilt as one project that will restore service to Newport once again. This video shows the track and ROW as it looked in June and July 2021 prior to the work being done. As of the upload date, 7/18/2021, work has not started yet.

Great video it's awesome to see this line be used again for trains
That was nice how you did that. Showed all the work and the angles. Then you took everyone for a ride, well done
That looks like a ton of work. Ties. Water drainage.garly.
That’s an awful lot of work that’s being done and a heck of a lot of money being spent for it to be a tourist line.has to be some other reason why it’s being rebuilt but whatever it is it’s nice seeing old lines like this coming back to life.
glad to see this section being restored , it would be a shame to see this lost forever ... now to make an arrangement with the navy !
Commuter rail service is becoming more popular in urban areas and people see the functionality of having industrial lines for business. I'd much rather see rail lines rebuilt than more highways built.
Can you put audio on this to explain ? maybe history. dates , etc.
Greetings South Coast Rail. Great video. I hope the rail line install two sets of tracks, beyond the end of the line.
They need to restore this.
Awesome :)
Very cool. But where is Van Zandt? It doesn't come up on Google Maps
Van Zandt Ave Newport RI
seems like lots of train lines are being restored
Yes because we see a lot of the restoration on RUclips. I would guess that overall, in the US, there is more mileage being removed than being restored.
Nice video, but I would have had some voice over explaining the historical aspects of this line
Those wooden crossings are cool. Very old school. Crossings here in CT seem to use some prefab polymer stuff or just asphalt.
This is going to be a lot of work!
Did u know that at the end if the bridge that its on the river. From the other side there is a abandoned railroad that still there and I'm asking if you are also restoring that part because the tracks are still there but under the dirt but there and a railroad crossing that us still there
At this time the track in Tiverton won’t be restored. The current project is the line going into Newport as well as finishing up upgrades at Melville.
Flagman does some serious footwork’.
This is awesome. I hope to see the P&W meet up with the Mass Costal
That’ll never happen
Has there been any further work on this line?
Should be some work next spring
how fair is the restoration going?
who is doing the restoration?
Is this going to hook into the MBTA passenger rail extension?
I've asked this before, but maybe asking again in a new video might get an answer... Does anyone know why they removed the passing track/siding in front of the station adjacent to the bus depot? This is what the second crossing at Poplar and Elm streets was a part of.
It was removed to be replaced but the project caught a snag. It’ll be going back in place like this video shows.
What industries does this line serve or will serve?
Tourists
Can it service any customers? pay the bills.
Will u be keeping us up ta date with the project n the process of the rebuild?
N will they have 1 set of tracks or 2 set of tracks rebuilt n back in service again?
Yes I will be. It will be two tracks into the station.
@@SouthCoastRailVideos that's good n cool A will be looking for the updates
What size rail did they install? 122 pound, ect ?
I think it might be 115, I’d have to check
Just went on GOOGLE MAPS satellite view and followed the line up o where it ends at the Sakonnet River.
Is more of this line going back into service? I saw the sidings with all the old passenger rail cars, will these also be put back in service?
And will a new bridge span the Sakonnet to continue the line? Yes, I know very pricey...
The whole line is in service except this short section into Newport
Did the ever continue where it ended in the video at the road.
Yes there was a yard across the street
They used to be many tracks spurs and sidings Especially during World War II
New haven had a roundhouse there at one time
@@markkerr7866 it seemed weird the track ended at the road. I wondered if the track went across the road where the gas station and building are now. Thank you for the info the yard must have gone away a long time ago.
What businesses will be served by the restoration? What advantages will this have?
Tourist trains
Isn’t this the track being removed for a bike trail?
East track will be the trail, west track to be rebuilt
expensive
