He is Lavrov's equal in the art of foreign diplomacy, (Sergey still retains his job in the Kremlin) and he has lobbied the world community into isolating Russia and turning it into a pariah state. Sacking him now will be a bad mistake and may yet turn out to have dangerous consequences for the war efforts which have been marshalled against Putin. If corruption wasn't responsible for his resignation, he should be allowed to complete what he started.
