Some people get a good night kiss from their pets ... my cockatiel gives me a good night hiss. 😂 She only hisses at bedtime when the cage is being covered, or if I walk by the cage after it's been covered.
Thank you for this! I just got two cockatiels two days ago from someone for free. I am trying to get them used to me and trust me but it’s hard when the male gets aggressive and protective. 😭
@@TheParrotTeacher I looked up, just sitting next to their cage a lot, reading a book or watching a TV, just doing whatever can make them get used to you being around. And talking to them, so that’s what I’ve been doing too. I tried to hand-feed them treats, but the male did not like that. So just sitting next to there cage for now. I’ll make sure to check out your videos too. :D thank you.
So I got a cockatiel and when ever I put my hand near her she hiss and I thing she is annoyed but she is not scared of me she eats out of my hand but she is just randomly hiss at me and I really want a good realation ship with my bird but i don’t know what to do do you have any tips to help?
My cockateils are happy all the time Just when covering them over at night they will give a few quick hissing noises but as soon as the cover is on the cage they are quiet. Any advice of how to stop the hiss when they get covered?
We aren’t fans of covering honestly it tends to cause issues! You could consider just partially covering them like the back/sides or top 1/3 or just taking more time doing it when covering!
@@TheParrotTeacher thank you. We are covering them as the person we got them off said he was covering them every night. Only cover the quarter of the cage.
Our Tiel (a rescued found bird) has a real problem with hands, we have just about got him to step up in the two years we've had him, but hands near his head is a no-no! And he bites hard! We're trying positive reinforcement training, but not really succeeding, any tips?
It’s not uncommon for rescues and cockatiels to be like this! Positive reinforcement is a good step, as is target training (especially soft targeting), contact training is also good! If you look at some of my other videos they have some tips on the above and I did a live on fear of hands specifically!
TheParrotTeacher i love your video so much ❤❤❤❤🎉 but not going to lie it makes me sad im 13 years old and i have 2 cockatiels for my self my uncle has 2 ringparrots they have a small chage and bad food and i want to give my parrots i big chage toys chop and all that but my mom she never trust me about chop and toys they eat sunflower seed i want they to eat chop but only 13 and i can't do anything and i bought these parrots by my money i live in UAE so 1 was 140 it was not chep i love parrots so muchh but now i don't think i need 1 i just want help i want you to maybe make video about the important of chop toy and like a big chage ik its not just that like a good boud good care pls make a video about that.......
Hey there, thank you. I do have videos on the importance of diet and toys and play! Toys don’t also have to be expensive some of my older videos have DIY toys you can make yourself! As for chop, you can start small by maybe giving them leafy greens or fresh herbs through the bars, or even just giving them a wider variety of seeds and grains!! Maybe you can approach your mum and ask her if she’d like to learn more about them with you!
I used to have a teil, and the annoyed hiss was my favorite 😍 💖
All the hissing!
Hahaha this is a great video!!! I always get "leave me alone" hiss at night, when I pass by the cage.
Same! I imagine they'd hang a Do Not Disturb sign on their cage if they could 😂
Haha Fish does the same! They definitely would have a sign if possible lol
Every time my brid smoke does that
Thank you so much for this video! I always thought my little guy was scared out of his mind, but turns out he just telling me to get lost xD
It can be a bit of a distinction! It’s easy to assume it always means fear but Fish often hisses at night when he’s grumpy!

It’s possible she just doesn’t want it near or is unsure! I have some good videos on bonding that would be worth watching!

My Consue was walking on me, and a sharp hiss was heard from her. What does this mean?
It could mean all sorts!
