ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions. ABOUT US Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

Without discovering who I am, and wanting to know about the universe and God, I find myself in the strange and curious situation of wanting to know about everything else without knowing who wants to know.
I am not two, one to know the other. It's really about discovering, removing what covers. I can, apparently, cover the sun with the palm of my hand. But that hand is only seen by me because of the sunlight. Likewise, I only perceive theories, beliefs and concepts - which seemingly cover the infinite light - because of that light itself.
To see the sun, I need to remove my hand from its position in front of my eyes. To see the infinite light, it is necessary to remove, by understanding the facts, the superimposition which is beliefs, theories and mental representations.
In this case, seeing is being.
It's a great adventure, which, initially, can cause fear. But this fear also subsides.
Om Namah Shivaya
Sir. I got some understanding of Advaita with different perspective. I was not having idea what is AHAM BRAHMASMI. NOW I got clear picture. Thank you very much
Without realise what ever descrpitions cant answer this quiz we have .... once realise there is no quiz arise at all ... let all be illuminated by the grace of Sri Ramkrishna ❤
Beautiful
Tat twam ASI ❤
The answer given by swami is opposite of what Sri Yukteshwar says to Paramhansa Yogananda in the book Autobiography of a yogi. To quote, “When a soul finally gets out of the three jars of bodily delusions,” Master continued, “it becomes one with the Infinite without any loss of individuality."
In last phrase Swamiji said "Ati Shanto" which literally means the same as you said. Being infinite without losing individuality. They are not different at all. Just explanation is different
Well said
❤❤❤

Intelligence literally means “reading between”, that is, reading between the lines, which means perceiving what is behind that which appears, behind appearances.
“Phenomenon” is, literally, “what appears” and also "what seems to be”. Intelligence is seeing what is behind phenomena.
Intelligence itself is what is behind phenomena.
The seer is the seen.

The only perfect logical theory for this creation , this Universe... is the theory of Non-Creation , Ajaatha vaatha... which states that there is no Creation. If we look it close... we can see only Brahman , Aanandam everywhere.
isnt it?
Even the ocean example is limited... Existence has no difference or parts that arise due to space in ocean. Since space itself is an appearance in existence. Therefore, there is no this or that existence. It is one without any difference.
My sincere obeisance to revered swamiji. I have a question..
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE CONSCIOUSNESS WHEN WE DIE?
We don't die. We are the dreamer of the dream of separation from Brahman, (so it appears that the body dies) -- but there never was separation (it was an impossibility), because we are one with Brahman and Brahman is limitless existence.
What happens to a drop of the water in the ocean when it stops thinking it is separate from the ocean? Nothing changes.
There is an underlying reality to this existence of which we are but a mere appearance within it. So many are mistaken in thinking that they are the underlying reality in which they have appeared.
We are the underlying reality my friend. We are not the individual . Tat tvam asi !
There is an underlying water which is Existance, which You Are, We as in these Human bodies are and Appearances and like waves but You are not literally this Human Body, You Are That Water.
What difference does it make after knowing this just tell
@@AidenHalsellThe underlying reality is no different in essence, but it takes on an appearance within itself to recognise its own reality. The truth is both dualistic and non-dualistic. It takes one to recognise the other. One cannot recognise itself by itself. The existence of the appearances within the one reality are real, being the same as the reality from which they emerged. So that is why the appearances mistake themselves as being the reality itself. The process of "recognising ones own reality" is the process of awakening consciousness which we all can experience. So if we are truly fully conscious then we are recognising that reality which is greater than ourselves.
The underlying reality created the appearances within itself to become aware of its own reality, in other words to become conscious.
@@IAMLiamwalker4444 Well, I am just a small fish swimming the vast ocean of reality, and that's more than I can handle.
then why don't i have strange powers?
I have this doubt whether if pure consciousness knows that it's existing
I don't know.
Vedanta would probably say Pure Consciousness (Brahman) is "existence" itself, it is the only thing there is.
Its play (Leela) is this, the pure consciousness (Brahman) is aware of itself when appearing as more than 1 through Jivas (individual beings).
Kid story- God pretending to be not God, to have someone to play with, God being God and so good at what he does, God "really" appears as not God and forgets he is God.
Only such appearance times I guess Vedanta would say Brahman can Experience Brahman
Bro bro bro ,what do u mean by knowing , knowing is done by this brain , and conciousness is not a brain , remove your memory and u know nothing , all knowledge is false , illusion ( vedanta = ved ( knowledge ) + anta (end) ie end of knowledge
Brahman has no memory card , brahman is beyond time , memory is formed under the influence of time ( memory is past ) but brahman is beyond time🙂
The lowest is "believe". Above is “know.” Above is "see". Above is “to be.” Real is beyond being and non-being. Nothing can be said of the Real. This is why knowing is an illusion. Even seeing is illusory. Vidyamaya, the seed of illusion.
Only "you" could have this doubt, pure consciousness doesn't. To know something exists is to know it as separate, whereas if consciousness is ALL there is, then how can there be anything separate from it?
Or alternately, does the the sun know it gives off light and heat? It gives off light and heat, what is more fundamental than that? The knowing is actually a step below being.
You, Venerable One, may indeed be a seeker, for, striving toward your goal, there is much you do not see which is right before your eyes.
What about individuality ? How brahman & individuality can exist together ?
Maya. The one appearing as the many
In "ignorance" there is "individuality". In "knowledge" there is dissolution of individuality and cognition that: YOU ARE BRAHMAN, WERE NEVER ANYTHING OTHER THAN BRAHMAN AND WILL NEVER BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN BRAHMAN". Simultaneously you recognize that YOU transcend both ignorance and knowledge.
Brahman and individuality do not exist together, there is only BRAHMAN AND IS NONDIFFERENT FROM YOU.
Please ask yourself: If Brahman is infinite (To be seen as a FACT), how can individuality- a finite entity- exist independently of infinite? How can BRAHMAN exclude "you- the individual"?
A "realized person" does not see himself or herself as an "individual". He/She cognizes that the "individual" is/was/will never be anything other than an appearance in and not made of anything other than the "TRUE I" aka "Brahman", there never being any separation between the "two".

Is life just about existing? If it is then I m disappointed
The 'I' will always be disappointed - that is its nature - that is why 'you' suffer. The solution? Find out who, or what, is disappointed.
Exactly they always keep saying same thing about it I'm also kind of disappointed with repetitive sentences
@@neil6477" I " is the consciousness right and when there is no one then where would consciousness exist
@@Imp120 My friend, you are nowhere near the truth. You need to go much deeper to find the ‘I’. When/if you do, your question(s) will cease.
@@Imp120 The ‘I’, the self, is simply something created by the brain. It is nothing more than an invention. Consciousness arises ‘elsewhere’.
😂😂😂 Area of brain….Yes you are formless but not me….
