In this discourse, Swami Sarvapriyananda addresses the question of spirituality and enlightenment, emphasizing that these pursuits are for everyone. Drawing an analogy to specialists in fields like engineering, Swami Sarvapriyananda suggests that spiritual specialists, such as monks, are essential for deep exploration. However, not everyone needs to become a monk; instead, everyone can and should be spiritual. Swami Sarvapriyananda shares a story of a monkey trapped by greed, highlighting the importance of letting go in spiritual growth. Renunciation is identified as a fundamental value in monkhood, involving the relinquishment of the pursuit of wealth and sensual pleasure. Swami Sarvapriyananda advocates for a monk-like internal attitude even for those in worldly circumstances. The talk concludes with practical principles for peace, including seeking to have less, being last rather than first, doing the will of others, and ultimately accepting the will of God.

Just loved those 4 points getting repeated here again
1. Always seek to have less rather than more
2. Always seek to be last than first- in matters of enjoyment and credit
3. In matters opinion do the will of others than your (not values)
4. In all situations accept the will of God

Blessed to be a devotee of Sri Ramakrishna. And proud to have a monk like you in Ramakrishna order Swamiji. Pranams at your holy feet Swamiji
🙏🙏🙏
Derived so much peace from your teachings, Maharaj. 🙏
I am suffering from depression from past 21 years, I think spirituality has a way for me to come out of my mental illness. I too wanted to renounce everything and be a monk but I am the only son of my parents, I can't leave them. I just practice meditation and watch many spiritual videos on RUclips.
Sir ,before dragging any one in to monk hood ,Permhansa used to weigh the right hand side fist of a particular person and then allow his entry .Can you explain why this.
I hope these videos help you. Hope you can overcome depression. Please have faith. Please do things for yourself, and your parents should support you in what you choose to do. Take care
@@mahendrakent3177 thank you for your response
There is no need to leave ur parents u only have to leave ur attachment to ur parents
Attachment is cause of suffering
@@nikhilkhandelwal3927 I know that attachment to my parents is the cause of my suffering but it's not that easy to say that it doesn't matter to me whether they live or die. I live with them 24 by 7. The reason of my depression was different at different ages. I believe that the aim of human life is moksha and if I could lead a life of a monk I could have gone closer to the aim of human life.
I love when he says
" No no no no"
Pranams maharaj🙇🏻
Pranam Swamiji🙏🙏🙏
Only by the grace of God, one can understand the subtlest knowledge you are explaining so beautifully. One has to firstly surrender to God to transcend🙏🙏🙏
Revered Maharaj we keep on looking for valuable lectures every ti me
The most wise is the most humble people must live intelligently look objectively see how thoughts work and in what way contradict the fundamental principle of life
The Bible teaches that Judge not that you be not judge is say the same thing as the Bhagawat gita declared Yoga means looking at all with an equal eye Everyone there is seed of divitnity

7:05 "Meditate for a bit in a forest somewhere - two years, two days, doesn't matter - come back to the west, open a centre near rich white folks with an obsession for 'finding' themselves, then give lots of abstract, profound-sounding talks for the RUclipss. Monetise mafaka!" Surprised at this monk's courage to say the quiet bit out loud. Bravo!
অসাধারণ। প্রণাম ঠাকুর, প্রণাম মা, প্রণাম স্বামীজী।
The Swami and these videos are PRICELESS and I'm so thankful that he and they exist but I've noticed that he does tend to avoid the topic/obstacle of sex/lust as exemplified in this very video. I believe that this particular hindrance to progressing on the Adivaita Vendanta spiritual path is one that plagues a lot of people worldwide and especially in the West. It's definitely my number one issue as I'm a bit of a minimalist regarding material possessions, even with regard to collecting worldly experiences. I'd really love to receive more instruction on this topic.
Thank you for this feedback. I will try to find some videos/clips on this topic. Have a blessed day friend 🙏

Simple living and high thinking will surely make us happy. Only try to keep less communication. Just hear people, do not listen. If you are not with the flow, people think, some of our nuts loose. This is my experience.😂❤
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sir l need one clarification.
Shri Paramhansa used to weigh the fist of right hand of a particular person.before admitting jim to monk hoodWill you plese explain why all this
swami tell ur sirmon very simple and understandable english because i am srilankan forgive me telling like this
"Matter of opinion" means,
Are we supposed to accept whatever other says
Swamiji I have a question. How is one supposed to follow a monk-like approach towards one's loved ones? I cannot renounce my responsibilities towards my children - and I am filled with concern for them. A mother's love for her children is neither Acquisition nor Lustful consumption. If it's neither then how can mothers practice monk-like behaviour? How can we be spiritual as mothers, what should we renounce? All the examples are about kings and warriors and corporate honchos....I am none of these. Can you explain how I - an ordinary mum- should practice renunciation? How should I respond when my loved ones suffer? I hope someone at the Mutt - or some enlightened reader - will provide a point of view
I have children myself and I too wonder what will come of them, but all I can do is to teach them what I know and have faith that God will look after the rest.
I recommend reading the books by Swami Prabhavananda; "The Eternal Companion: Brahmananda - His Life and Teachings" and "Shankara's Crest Jewel of Discrimination: Viveka-Chudamani" offer a lot of good advice for house-holders. 🙏🙏🙏
@@vedanta_philosophyvery good reply 👍
I am a therapist and I am offended 😅
🤣 - God play at work
You say that life doesn't owe us Happiness. Fair enough. If the Universe indeed looks at itself through our eyes, then it wants to see all kind of stuff, not just comedy and blissed out people. That would be boring as heck. But... what about balance? Does this life, the Play of God, Shiva's dance, whatever you want to call it, does it owe us some resemblance of balance in the good and bad stuff? After all, the Yin and the Yand always balance each other out, do they not? Or is it perhaps that the Universe, Brahman does not have any preference at all? Maybe good, bad, fairplay, love, hate, justice, are all things of Samsara. Brahman is just looking at the show it plays. Do we project these things onto whatever the Ultimate is?
Cos white pellet only want their views/opinions to be but they don’t know/ sat chit anadana hari om
Where does life pay people to do the work of a monk? It is hard and long. And the teachings for a monk cannot apply to householders nor to warriors nor to business people. Common sense would tell you that.
I disagree. Have you read the gospel of Sri RamaKrishna? There is a lot of information in there on how a householder can live a monk like lifestyle and attain moksha.
Read or listen to Bhagavad Geeta. The secrets of life ,and the tips to live
with family ,and do the mundane existence of life with out sarrow.
