It's strange that LFC fans are more confident in the squad and optimistic about the season the day after their first loss than we've been all season.

    • @MODERNDAYJESTER

The only "strange" thing are the delusional people who clearly either didn't watch the game or just clueless in general who don't understand how , Liverpool had a perfectly onside goal disallowed and only got beat in the last minute in stoppage time by an own goal with only 9 men. This will be , by many , seen as one of the best performances of the season and rightfully so and yes the title charge is even more valid with the evidence on show here.

But at 11v11, they were easily the more assured, dominant team and LFC struggled to chase runners. That's why they lost their heads and their I'll-disciplined approach cost them massively. Leaving the retarded refs aside, I feel like klopp made a huge mistake in the start of 2nd half bringing in jota for gakpo and leaving szobo and macalister as the holding pivots. Klopp rarely makes such tactical blunders but this was a very obvious one:
The whole world knows spurs love overpowering the middle by making their fullbacks play in the R and L attacking mid spots. Klopp should have brought in Endo for Gakpo to close the gaps in the middle. Spurs were raping Liverpool for a good 15mins in the 2nd half. I have no idea how they didn't manage to score even 1 from that phase of play. Szobo and Mac were begging for support.
Despite going 1 man down and with the whole ref team against them, they could have definitely pulled off a shocker with the bench strength they had. Klopp definitely missed a trick or two here

Nice analysis. I'm surprised Klopp brought on Jota instead of Nunez considering Nunez' last 10-man heroics. Maybe he thought Nunez was more likely to get in yellow card trouble at the time than Jota? Ouch if so.
This was probably the worst refereeing I've witnessed between the LFC goal that wasn't reviewed and the card decisions. It's odd to see a red card on a clear attempt to the ball, got the ball, only to roll over the top of it out of one's control. I'm never a fan of sending off players on unintentional/unlucky happenstances like this, esp in big games where you want to see the best go toe to toe. Not missing a toe or two.
The first Jota yellow card was also cheap. Guy's heel clips Jota's knee? Jota didn't reach for him. Blow the whistle fine, but a yellow? (2nd one Jota clearly reaches w/o an attempt on the ball, clear yellow). I don't think Spurs had a yellow till late in the 2nd half. (not that they deserved any, but it was just odd).
I told my cousin (Spurs fan), Kudos on finally beating Liverpool at home. It only took VAR, 2 red cards, and a last second OG.

As good as Liverpool were.... Tottenham played better 11 Vs 11 than they did 11 Vs 10 and definitely better than 11 Vs 9... spurs clearly had no idea how to play to exploit the advantage. In the end Liverpool are a world ahead in terms of mentality and tactical awareness. Spurs also shouldn't have taken son off when they did... he's the only true goalscorer we have. I was stunned when he got taken off. In the end Liverpool are the second best team in the league and it's unfortunate for them they lost this game as they needed to make the most of city's loss. Spurs should have swapped kulu and Solomon so that they could actually have them use their stronger foot to cross from the byline, or the full backs needed to overlap.

Disappointing to say the least. The offside decision was an obvious error. There's not much to talk about that. I just don't understand why they couldn't stop the game immediately after realizing their error to correct it. Man Utd was awarded a penalty against Brighton after the fulltime whistle in September 26, 2020. There's no reason to continue the game just to apologize later if your error is clear and obvious, and has a major impact onto the competition as a whole. I agree on Jota's second yellow but the first one was another mistake by the officials. Still, he should have been more careful. Jones' red card was a harsh decision. I don't think it was a red card but based on the video check material (one still image) given to the main ref, there was really no other outcome. They should have shown the whole incident in which Jones' foot clearly slips over the ball after a clear ball contact. The still image only told a fraction of the incident and the video check was not conclusive to be fair.
Other incidents missed in the game. Udogie was on a yellow when he was witnessed signaling a yellow card to Jota. That should have been another yellow, given the harsh line. There were some harsh yellows shown to Liverpool. Robbo got a yellow when he was elbowed and Salah's yellow was unnecessary. Also, Gomez was brought down in the penalty box with a clear contact. No penalty, or even a VAR check. Van de Ven simply miskicked the ball and brought down Gomez. That was simply ignored.
Liverpool performed superbly given the difficulties they faced in the game. The lads put up a fight and almost managed to get a point. To be completely honest, I think the match should be replayed due to blatant officiating errors. But, unfortunately, it's unlikely that justice is served in this league. I just hope that this match doesn't determine the title at the end of the season.

Well, as a Liverpool fan and a football fans that like spurs the most within EPL top six teams, I will said it's an entertaining match but really disappointed with the error of those official. Why those communication not goes to clearer and easy to understand? example like, "It's onside or offside, check complete, It's a foul or not a foul, It's not clear we going to showing you the replay?" Some peoples are only focusing on this disallowed goal and forgot the controversy card that had been given to by the referee? The official are possible not only making one mistake on a single game but multipliers and then what? The officials just get ban and not include into duty for a week or two? then they are back. This year the FA gave more power to the official with seeing many time, players has been discipline by card with those who questioning official's decision. I thought you have to earn the respect not discipline player to get your respect? And then what? No one can question the decision of referee and you want us to respect them on the field while official keep making these professional mistake?

In my opinion, VAR’s wrong decision was absolutely terrible, but other liverpool’s red or yellow cards were acceptable since it came from their harsh tackles or something else.(but Jota’s first yellow card could be controversial) Moreover I do not understand why you gave 5 stars to Ange, 8.5 stars to Klopp. Yeah, I agree that Klopp’s management was great, however, their both tactical scores have to be similar.

Simon Hooper, the referee of the match between Tottenham and Liverpool, is the same referee who officiated the match that Liverpool lost to Manchester City, and Liverpool had not lost before that in a number of matches. It seems that he just wants to appear in the media against Liverpool. He issued six yellow cards to Liverpool players, in addition to two red cards to Curtis Jones and Diego Jota. He also canceled A goal for Liverpool, and we all remember his attack on Robson at Anfield. Such a referee will ruin the greatest and strongest league that can be watched in the world.
