What is SEALCOATING and why should I do it?
1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

What impresses me is how one guy not only seems to know what the other guy needs, but he also doesn't get in his way. I know I would have cut those edges in a lot slower, but if you've been at this for a while, you tend to improve your skills, and you have done that. I'd expect your business to grow as people clasp an eye on to what you can do.

I see some brands of sealer say it dries 'to the touch an ready for foot traffic' in one hour. Is that what you guys use? It sounds like that would be ideal but if it's dry to the touch and ready for foot traffic in a hour that means the drying process starts not long after it's laid out on the driveway. What are your thoughts on dry time for sealers? (The one hour stuff i saw was advertised as a 'rubberized system/texture')
That stuff is hard to work with. That’s for using a squeegee and doing one pass. We use a different product and are able to work it into the driveway at multiple angles.

You guys put out some good quality very efficiently! Looks like that driveway gets full sun and was setting up quick but when two guys move as fast as you, that wont be a problem! Nice Work!
Haha yes, you're the only on that noticed the "full sun". That driveway was sealed in August and it was HOT.

I never see a tar can get the sidewalk so very nice and clean place ok it look very cute ok
great work done by you guys! I am from southeast Asia, I guess this coating will be very sticky during hot weather?! may I know how long it takes to fully dry after u applied coating?
In the summertime it can dry with in 1 hour. In the fall it can take 24 hours.

This is the only color it comes in.
Not true at all... Sealer comes in a multitude of different colors, just don't wanna run them thru your tank and they are expensive.
The product we use only comes in one color.

When it's applied its brown, and when it dries its jet black.

I used to put a 5 gallon bucket of this stuff that look like a bluish elmers Glue and mixed it in would 100 gallons of sealer. It was expensive i forgot what i use to charge people for it but it helped the sealer dry faster and harder...
I used to work for a company called macadam out in Pennsylvania and they would buy sealer by the thousands of gallons because they would use a lot of it but then they would also sell it to small companies and it was my job to fill up the tanks mix in the sand mix in the hardener... it's amazing how many fly-by-night companies would come get a hundred gallons of sealer an then put 100 gallons of water in it and then add nothing else to it I had to explain to them that it's all going to wash away after one rain storm and I managed to convince a lot of the fly-by-night companies to start putting sand and a hardener in there sealer and to properly mix the water and seal coat ratio. used to irritate the s*** out of me because there's good companies out there that have to charge what they charge due to the cost of seal coat and its materials. But you have them people that just get seal coat completely thin it out with water and charged half the price and people think that they're getting a great deal

Every driveway is edged and blown prior to being sealed. Some of the videos just don't have that part recorded.
