    As a Memphian, I was so excited to see that you guys made this, but I'm honestly blown by the fact that y'all didn't do JUNT. That's like the most essential Memphis "slang" word there is. It LITERALLY means everything lol

    The curly haired girl was right about “green”. It’s a rare slang that is used between both younger and older age groups here, but with different meaning.
    Older people use it to describe rookies, while younger people use it to describe dishonest or dishonorable people.

    Born and raised in Memphis, TN and there's a memphian this was very hilarious to watch I have always gotten from people out of town even my fiance who's from Texas I have always gotten that we have a unique accent or the way that we speak, it's crazy to see us getting light shed on us from not only our dancing & music but the way that we talk. I'm surprised that y'all didn't do "Junt" because that's our main signature word it goes for everything! But still It's pretty cool to see and y'all get a little taste of how us memphians speak 🗣️💯

    I am California native but have been living in Memphis for 4 years now… and this video is so freakin true… I still struggle to understand sometimes 😂.. but I am surprised that they didn’t say Junt and mane! Those are the two words they use a lot… sidebar: my daughter grandmother is from Memphis and lives in Compton ca for the last 40+ years and still says mane 😂 I love her life! I LOVE MEMPHIS and I ain’t going back to Cali lol… Memphis now has a piece of my heart ❤

      I lived in Memphis for 6 years and I'm from SoCal. It was a culture shock but I can understand not coming back to CA lol But funny thing is I don't recall hearing these slang words. More 'mane' and 'chedda'. I too felt like I needed a translator when I was out there. haha And I stuck out with my 'dude' and always being told I sounded white over the phone. lol (I'm Polynesian) Good people out there!

      Yeah, i grew up in the midwest. In milwaukee, wi. There is a way of how blk ppl talk there too. But i’m not sure if it’s as unique as those like from memphis. I also lived in ky, and visitied tn as well. So for me it’s my accent versus just the lingo. Like people in ky think i sound northern while people in the north think i sound southern. When really my accent is a mixture of both.

Those great things are usually drowned out by the crime and it sucks but we do have a beautiful city. I love how this pulled us together in love and laughter!     I’m from Miami, and we use to say the word flaugin’ back when I was in frikin middle school. It meant the same thing. The south definitely shares slang .

    I dated a Memphop rapper, and helped start a show, 'Dope On Arrival' with my other ex, and "Uglass", "junt", and "bruh" has become very heavy in my Jackson vocabulary. My Jersey Bae loves my accent, and my Philly bestie stays cracking up at our subtle differences in verbiage. I love the distinct way we speak. You know it's us!

      My grandma was from TN. She lived in memphis a little bit. And no one could understand much of what she was talking about when she spoke. Because she moved up to milwaukee, wi. And then my dad’s family is from kentucky. So between my grandma and my dad’s family it’s all kinds of lingo floating around lol.

    Even though this is isn’t Memphis “slang” my favorite thing to hear them say is in their accent is “music”,
    I say that because certain Memphians like Yo Gotti or Moneybagg Yo, pronounce it with an R in the middle and say:
    *”meursik”* 🎶 😂

    I'm from Southern California and lived in the Raleigh area of Memphis for about 6 years. None of these phrases I remember ever hearing while living out there. I'm going to have to ask my Memphis buddies about these words. lol I do remember hearing 'mane' and 'chedda' a lot though. I used to tell my very1st friend in Memphis they sounded like everyone on Hustle and Flow. She got mad. lol I understand because folks think we all sound like the Kardashian's and no the hell we don't! Sometimes I felt like I needed her to translate with all the heavy Southern accents. Good people in the 901!

    I'm a born and raised Memphian. No one says slaw anymore. I said that in high school like 20 years ago. Flaugin is the old word for the new age Capn. I've never heard of Pluck though, lol. I mean I am getting old, but I know my 20 year old nephew is familiar. These young folks have twisted the original meaning for Green though.
