Hey 👋🏼 thanks for all your videos, you have truly improved my cooking 🥘 lol I am 45 years old and a mother of seven Born in Manhattan New York, but raised in the Bronx. I was taught by my grandparents that were from Bayamón, Puerto Rico how to cook and my parents also taught me other dishes, so I have been cooking since the age of 11. Ever since I ran into your RUclips videos and I’ve been following your recipes to the T 😁 my husband and kids (even though 3 of them are now adults) have started to praise my cooking again because their saying they can tell that I’ve been experimenting with different seasonings and they ask me everyday what am I going to cook today. I want to let you know that the Lord has blessed you with an amazing gift, and thank you for sharing with the world your gift. May the Lord continue to guide and bless you for the rest of your life. I love the attention that I am getting from my family because of your videos. Thank you so very much. You have truly inspired me to wanna learn outside of my comfort box because the seasonings and the way of cooking that my family had taught me are totally different but similar too but just with a twist of you. I really love having you in the kitchen with me while I’m cooking. God bless you and keep on sharing. Love you and your partner 🌹❤️🔥 you two make an awesome team And may God bless you both and your union forever more.

I just made it today. It was a big hit. I added a couple teaspoons of sofrito toward the end. I served it with rice and pasteles (I had made the pasteles before and pulled them out of the freezer. Boiled them up and was good to go!) Thank you 😋😋😋
I love your videos. I watched many cooks on RUclips preparing Puerto Rican meals but I’ve never seen anyone as through as you. I love the way you explain everything in detail, the water measurement, the rice measurement, the ingrediencies, etc. I would love to see you make is un bestec con cebollas. I met you a long time ago...you were working in a colombian restaurant in Queens, I think. I live in FL now. But it took me a long time to figure out where I had seen you before lol. You are a GREAT cook. I love my PR food.
Hi! As always, great video! I noticed in the description box that sofrito was used. Can you please tell me when should the sofrito be added during cooking? I plan to make this soon. Thanks!
TaJuana Harris sofrito is always gonna be at the base of your starting flavors so whenever you start adding salt, tomato sauce, etc. you would add sofrito
Marinate the meat in with sofrito and seasonings..for 1hr. Then cook it adding goya tomato sauce. The carrot last potatoes or they dissapear . With white rice cabbage sister .. Ha
Thanks for the recipe. This is the first time I made it and it came out great!!! Can't wait to try the other recipes. I posted the pics on my Facebook page.
Thanks. I liked your FB page. And no worries about the salt. I don't use much salt anyways because of all the other spices. And I did add sofrito to mine.
Thank you for the recipe. I will make it for my sobrino when I go an see him for Thanksgiving. My partner is also from PR so he will have a taste of home. Many Thanks
This is REALLY good and I LOVE how u take the time to explain everything, but I think you should add a serving size where you put the ingredients because sometimes I'm only cooking for me and my wife and should cut the ingredients in half.
I love following your recipes but just a note to you, I noticed in this beef stew recipe, you don’t have listed the cilantro or the olives, in case you might have forgotten to add it, but otherwise looking forward to making it. NY🇵🇷
Where did you obtain the big jug of "Bijol" was it at a box store like Costco or BJ's or online? In addition you have sofrito in the recipe ingredients but used fresh cilantro, wouldn't you need some more ingredients to make it into a classic sofrito for the recipe? Please clarify on both inquiries thank you. Peace...Jorge.
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! ❤️ my husband is Puerto Rican and his mom always made this for him now I want to do the same . . Just one question , so I boil the beef for an hour uncovered until the water is reduced , and then cover with a lid once the other ingredients n spices are added for another hour on low flame ?? Ohh and do you have a video on how to make homemade sofrito ?? Thanks!
If you don't have sofrito it still comes out really really good. I make sofrito when i have the extra money to make it since god forbid groceries getting expensive

If you don't have sofrito it still comes out really really good.
I make sofrito when i have the extra money to make it since god forbid groceries getting expensive
when do you add the sofrito to the beef stew
In the beginning, when you are making the sauce base. Same with the Sazon.
That is so good you make my day thank you so much😋😋
Hi Derrick, another fantastic recipe. BTW, what is Bijal?

Is that how they do it in the coochifrito restaurant
Lovely...just lovely.
I'm gonna do it now.
Love your channel!
I want one of your t-shirts. Where can I get one?
Love the tutorial, but can you tell me why you don't rinse your meat off before cooking I find this so unsanitary being it go through so much before it reach the butcher and the consumer. Thanks for sharing
I totally agree, Stephanie. I picked up on that right away. Cleanliness first, especially when it comes to the food.
stephanie valentine technically you don't have to clean your meat because cooking it kills all of the germs. When you clean the meat you're actually spreading more bacteria! There are many countries who don't wash the meat before cooking :)
Okay thanks for telling me this, but I alway have rinse my meat you just dont know what it went through before it get to the customer.
When you cook your beef for more than 20 min @ 120 degrees you basically kill off anything that might kill you.
It's more unsanitary to wash your meat in your sink than it is to just cook it, mainly because what ever germs or bacteria may be on the meat is now all over your sink and if the water splashes now it's on your counter, etc. Not to mention now it's in your drain where the bacteria can spread and grow.
Thank you for sharing
I LOVE It !!!! 💗🙏🥰🥂

Looks awesome. This should be a great Crock Pot recipe as well. I was expecting you to add onions, but you didn't. Is this recipe ever done with onions? I have sofrito. One teaspoon or more? BTW, Walmart has Bijol.
hey why didn't you use sofrito for this recipe?
I take the meat and season it with a little bit of adobo and garlic powder, then take a spoonful of flour and mix it well with the meat. Heat up olive oil, about 2tsp and brown the meat first. By doing this the meat will be much tender. After that add whatever ingredients you'd like. I like to add potatoes, diced tomatoes and carrots.
