Really inspirational well made and thorough video!
I own the original briefcase, the newer type field bag and a small plain duffle bag.
Greetings from Sweden
Great video. Just visited my local Filson store. After watching this video, I’m going back for this bag.
Did you get it? How does it look now?
Great DEMO, thanks :)
I have one of these in tan and one of their medium duffles also. All I need for weeks of travel.
Excellent video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Best review online of this bag. Filson should give you a discount for all the business you have generated for them. Just bought mine.
Thanks for the compliment!
great review. wonder whether it’s still in your rotation? and how would you compare it vs the GR kit bag or even the defy rover?
Great review. I've had the medium duffle for 8 years and love the Filson quality but have never loved how it performs. The skinny leather strap is uncomfortable and the lack of any outer pockets makes it a pain to use. I find myself digging through all my stuff to find things I'd keep on the outer pockets of this one. Also the way it losses it's shape when not completely full looks bad. I didn't know this bag existed or I would have gotten it. I might make the switch. Thanks!
Totally agree! This is the reason I'd never buy the medium duffle. I hate the fact that there's zero built-in organization. For that price, I expect some more from it. Also, the 48-hour duffle looks more elegant when carried. I swap the shoulder strap from nylon to bridle leather strap (from another Filson briefcase) so it looks even better now. The front pockets of this duffle are large and deep, it's very practical and functional. Check it out and switch! Cheers!
Instantly recognized the satchel and page toiletry bag by its leather! :D You can really tell their products from everyone else just by their beautiful leather
Yup, I think S&P make one of the best (if not the best) toiletry bag out there.
how do you compare this to filson’s small rugged twill duffle? I liked Vermilyea pelle’s duffle for the quality of construction but I like this 48hr’s outside pockets.
To me, the 48hrs duffle is a strictly travel bag. It fits all my stuff for a 2-4 days trip. However, the tin cloth is thinner than the Filson canvas. Therefore, it lacks the structure to stay in shape (which I need/like) as a daily carry bag. Hope it makes sense.
Do you have any points where the canvas has started to fray? I’m thinking of the corners in particular. I’m between this and the duffle. Thanks for your help :)
No fray whatsoever. Filson's canvas is really strong and durable, so issue with it at all. Duffle has a higher capacity while 48hr is more stylish. If you need the extra space, go with the duffle: otherwise, 48hr is pretty sufficient for 3 days trip.
What do you use on a longer trip? I'm thinking about purchasing the Filson small/medium duffle bag.
For 4 Days or more, I go with the TravelPro carry-on luggage

Looks like a great personal item bag for a plane as well. Any experience with this vs the Waterfield Air Duffel in that respect?
If not, generally the brands quality?
Thanks!
TBH, I like the Filson style more. Waterfield Air Duffel is cool, just not as cool as the FIlson's to my eyes. Let's put it this way. 20 years later, I think Filson will stay be highly desirable, but I can't say the same for the Waterfield Air Duffel. I care about things like that.
Now compare this bag with the Filson padded computer bag. These are the two I am considering.
I have both the padded and 48 hour bag. I like the Paddded bag as a briefcase, although you can pack a days worth of clothes in it. The padded bag has built in slots for your computer and files. I pack mine with a laptop, charger, mouse, notebook, policy manual, flash drives flashlight, multi tool (removed for flying). The Padded bag also has the heavier canvas, so it is heavier than the 48 hour bag.
I like the 48 hour bag better when I don’t have to take my laptop. I can get 2 - 3 days worth of clothes in it, my toiletry kit, and my camera. I also use packing cubes. I keep one packing cube with a book, gum, IPod, phone, charge cable, snack bars and credit card that I toss on my plane seat when I get to my spot, and toss my bag into the overhead. Works slick and makes getting on/off the plane easy.
@@markely7587 thanks a bunch for the great comparison. That was worth of its own video!
thank you! Depending how you pack, I can get up to four days worth of clothes in my 48 hour bag. That’s packing shorts, tees, and thin fishing shirts.
When it’s colder then those bulky warm clothes take up the space, but still can get a few pairs of jeans, shirts, layers, a flannel and a hoodie. Good for 2 or 3 nights.
I love both of them for different reasons.
Also do you have a Link to the organizer @9:04? Looks cool, thanks
