Thanks for the review Nick. I have just a single Filson product. It is the computer bag in that same green color. My dad gave it to me, pretty much brand new. I ‘lent” it to my teenage son, but he became so attached to it that it is now his. I am jealous, as I do not have a nice computer bag of my own...yet. Eyeing that Cravar FC15 in leather now. Anyway, I LOVE that Filson duffel, even if it is no bargain, incidentally, I had to send that Filson computer bag in for warranty repair and they went above and beyond. In addition to repairing a couple of tears in the fabric, they tossed in an entirely new leather shoulder strap, though they state the straps are not covered in the warranty. There was a slight split in mine. Needless to say, I am now a fan for life. Keep the great reviews coming!
Ha! I got the computer bag for a friend of mine as a gift and keep wondering if I should have gotten him the briefcase instead as I don't hear much about the computer bag, glad you got it too.
I have one of their computer bags. It’s 25 years old and has been beaten to death. But it is holding up. You said it right in that you are always happy to own a Filson product. I have a brand new double Mac cruiser that I doubt I’ll ever wear that I may trade for a Filson bag. Taking offers. 😃
I have this large duffle in the carry version and the large roller version. Best luggage I’ve ever owned !!! Got them both BN for 550$. Couldn’t turn that down !! 😊
Great bag. I have the small and medium duffel. The large is too heavy for me to lug around for most travel purposes. It's fine for car travel and for specific purposes. I prefer wheeled duffels of this size, or using a collapsible campact dolly to haul it around when full. That's makes the bag quite versatile. Traveling with these compact stow away dollies is quite simple.
I got the duffle in medium, love it! Also, when are we gonna see another boot review? It's been 5 months since your last one! Would love to see you review a pair of 350 Cutters from Whites!
I bought the large before. But it was astronomically big and heavy I wasn't sure what it was useful for. The only scenario I see is a week long roadtrip which mostly stays in the car. Got two medium duffles instead in both the new carry-on size and old size.
Yeah that makes sense! I need a particularly big bag for my purposes - carrying product for filming and for traveling for weeks at a time - but the medium is definitely easier to wield
You're going to have to work on that flying elbow! I also noticed a pair of Grant stone moc toes on your feet so hoping for a review on those soon. I hated the look at first but they've grown on me lately.
I have never been unhappy with Filson luggage prices. I have been slowly collecting over the last 20 years or so and am up to 6 or 7 pieces by now and, when compared with what women will often pay for a single flimsy designer handbag, I figure that I am ridiculously ahead of the game. LOL! I also have a double Mac cruiser (in Elmer Fudd plaid) that I have worn many times in Canada and it is also fabulous. Same story with the green wool bibs that I use when I go camping in cold environments. Worth every penny! The one arena in which I think Filson is quite overpriced is in the realm of their more causal clothing that they started offering several years ago. Most of this is imported and, while the quality may be "alright", it certainly doesn't represent good value for money.
I have the tin cloth version of this bag and while it isn't as heavy as the twill it was cheaper and it has held up beautifully with a gorgeous patina.
@@Stridewise There wasn't too much wax on it even when new but every year or so I put a new layer of wax on but a rather thin layer since the tin cloth isn't as thick as the rugged twill it doesn't take as much wax to seal the fibers.
I got the Medium duffle last year and been up and down the east coast and took it to South Korea. I definitely agree about the opening that it’s a pain in the ass at times but hey, at least you look good
@@Stridewise I bought it because of their reputation for quality and customer support but 1) Falling apart in only a few months and 2) Them taking such a long time to remedy it is disgraceful, especially for such an expensive bag. They've yet to even send postage info to the dealer so it can be shipped to them, so I'll now be waiting over a month for this to be concluded! There are a lot of positive comments here which is great but potential new customers should be aware that Filson is not a 100% satisfaction company. On a more positive note, you've a great channel.
I got dropped off at the wrong Terminal in LAX and had to sprint carrying this duffle and it made me a little more unhappy with the fact it doesn't have wheels hahah
@@Stridewise This cracked me up, but hey we must suffer for our beauty! Whenever I'm not flying I tend to rock the WWII-Korean War era duffel I've had since I was about 6, but man to those ounces add up. Regular wheeled suitcases are a lifesaver in airports... even if they don't look as cool
Alright fella, it’s time. Nisolo’s Luis Weekender or canvas messenger bag! Come on! It’s waxed canvas too... But unfortunately looks a lot like that. Maybe in a few months?
Damn, Nisolo's bags have really improved since the last time I saw them! Maybe I could convince them to give me a bunch so I can do a Nisolo bagS review haha
For myself Ι made my own version. The Filson is good, but I much prefer waxed canvas, Eglish bridle straps from Sedgwick leather and RiRi zippers. Other than that I totally copied the design LOL
@@Stridewise yeah it's amazing how little it takes to make a bag like that, it's a great hobby to get into. Bunch of hand tools and a big kitchen table and off you go.
I've always loved this bag. update: aug 22 2021. ok, i need to update it. I went to hawaii with this bag as my check-in bag for a 10 day trip. It was soooo heavy. i should have bought one with wheels. I thought i'd look cool and handsome with this bag cuz i can show off my big arms and all that vain stuff( LOL), but..... it was SO heavy the whole time i had to hold it with both of my arms(think of hugging a tree kinda look), and looked so lame and weak...... Lesson learned: This bag looks handsome? YES. Should you fill it all the way? NO!
Haha, I like your point in ... "Men pretending to be able..." That's the biggest part today... Rough beards and silky hands... The issue with pricing of indestructible and lifetime warranty products is, you only sell them once. Lots of good company's vanished because they made this kind of products, sold them to everybody and for the next 30 years, no-one ever bought anything from them because they didn't need to. Actually people are so full of money, they can buy a filson duffel every year, but ...
Isn't that an interesting side of the heritage economy! They just have to rely on hobbyists I guess, or they need spectacular marketing - Filson gets both
@@Stridewise ... Definitely a pro on the heritage. And luckily some good company's survived the time and are able to bring back some of the spirit to invest in well made products.
Someone is either finally tossing body parts in a duffle... or inside are all the clothing on the way to be donated... 😂 (oh, looked like naked Cowboy at Times Square said no!) Filson (here in Singapore 🇸🇬) is just crazy expensive. I can only afford the wax. 🤷🏻♂️ Balled socks and underwear in waxed canvas and leather... hmmm. You left out natural rubber and mint lube. 🤭🤣
Hahaha it seems a bit silly to just want wax for the patina, as is the case with the twill (not the tin cloth) but like, I like waxed bags plenty. Unlined waxed jackets I'm less keen on, they don't breathe well and they feel gross on the arms
In this present day and atmosphere, all I can think of when seeing you carry that bag is "is he carrying an AR-15 in there?" Sad commentary on current events. Sorry.
$425?? Well that would be a steal now. They are listed at $650 on the Filson site.
