    I get the impression that Baldwin's character isn't a salesmen, but rather a "motivational speaker". It's likely he's hired by companies to give speeches just like this. The brass balls prop really gives this away.
    More importantly, it highlights just how there's no real money to be made in being a salesman. This guy probably was a salesman until he realized he's better off making money off the misery and failure of the rest of them by giving speeches.

    I recently joined a new company and a JPG of Alec Baldwin was on the training manual page entitled "ABC". The Trainer asked "Does anyone know where this is from?" I felt like a Dinosaur for putting my hand up. Heh. Luckily this dinosaur has had many rodeos, and the trainer reacted like it had been awhile since someone else knew Glengarry Glen Ross.

    I always wondered what the point of all this was. Mitch and Murray asked him to come down as what? Some sort of pep talk. So he goes down and berates them and says Always Be Closing lol

    • @wolfshanze5980
      @wolfshanze5980 Год назад +2

      In the real world, this is completely useless... no actual tips or instructions to improve sales, just random threats and tells them to close the sale.
      The only person who should be fired is this guy, because he's not helping anyone close.

    • @jamesjoy7547
      @jamesjoy7547 Год назад +2

      I figure this is the underperforming room. Mitch & Murray sent him here to put the fear of God (or Lemkin!) in them. He focuses on them, one by one, uses their insecurities against them, breaks them. Now, to recover their frail dignity, they have to prove him wrong.
      I worked sales 25+ years. Yeah, it *is* a tough racket (glug), and this film is the most authentic depiction of what it's like

    You think you’ve been working hard all this time.. then Blake comes along and breaks one just far enough off in you to let you know and make you feel like you’ve done nothing except sit down. Sometimes we need a speech from Blake to remind us to stop resting on our laurels and get our a*s in gear.
