i really like there soft feel especially on anything bigger than a two stair. also like how grippy they are when i was on formula fours I always felt like i was going to slip out of things. im not a huge power slider but you have so much control with these its turning me into one.
Got the 56mm Dragons and first time out, on smooth tar, with the wind from behind,... I was 17 years old again. (51 now) Haven't felt this particular stoke since Bullet 92a's in 1989. Agree with all you say, the smooth sensation usually equates to less speed, so it's definitely strange to be fast at a park and so smooth and STILL be able to slide. I was drooling over your board too, difficult to source in South Africa, will have to make a plan.
More skaters should try to skate with four different hardness wheels. Like a 93a, 95a, 97a, and a 99a or 101a all on one board. I've been getting super good results for over 10 years now but mostly on softer wheels in the 78a to 88A range. Harder wheels don't really have that much of a noticeable difference in duration of rolling time, or increased distance and glide, or noticable increase in speed as softer wheels that have way more rebound than rock hard wheels. The success I've had with softer cruiser type wheels would definitely help alot of skaters who use it more as transportation because they wouldnot have to push as much because of the longer extended gliding time. The trick is is that you need to experiment alot, like change where each different wheel goes many many times. Like at least a dozen or two times. And taking a short test ride in between each wheel change. It might take 2 hours, somewhere around there until you hit what l call "the jackpot moment" When magically for some unknown reason the skateboard goes alot faster than if you had in the beginning where you started. At this point you will look back and say l don't know what's going on but I know for a fact that these 4 different durometer wheels in this particular placement is alot faster than if l had all 4 wheels of the same durometer. Mind you, they should be all the same size, but colors, brands, graphics, price, and shape doesn't matter at all when you have the goal of achieving maximum rolling speed and longest lasting glide. After all what skateboarder out there wouldn't like that?! Who cares if all 4 wheels are a different color, heck they even sell sets of 4 wheels with all different colors! Only those are plain ordinary stock off the shelf wheels that are all the same harness. It's just the same old thing over and over for years since the 1970s when urethane wheels were first invented. Nobody thinks outside of the box and tries something different. I have a set of Powell Dragon wheels 56mm 93a white wheels and thought they were noisy, loud, and somewhat fast, but couldn't come close to the speed, smoothness, and long lasting glide that I've grown accustomed to by mixing different durometers of wheels. The proof is in the putting and I've proved it to myself over and over on the 30 plus skateboards I've owned in the last 10 plus years! I've been skateboarding for 4 decades and I wished I had discovered this along time ago. It does cost a bit more money to have at least 4 different durometer wheels but to me it's so worth it.
