    I am a 45 years old IT guy from urban Germany. I don't know shit about farming and less than that about sheep. I have no idea why RUclips decided to pitch me one of your Vlogs a few days ago and I can't really say why I decided to actually click on that thumbnail. But I'm glad that I did! I've been breezing through most of your Vlogs in the last days and loved the ride. We come from totally different worlds and yet you are my kind of nutjob. @@ceebee987 They are, but that's not it. At least not for me. I really like the honesty, the absence of any sugarcoating, the refusal to bend, bow down or censor herself. Real farming is nothing like Stardew Valley and people do need to be reminded of that. Tara does that and she combines that with just the right amount of humour and snark. This mixture may not be unique, but it is rare.
      By the way, tell your parents I said: »Guten Morgen, einen schönen Tag für Sie.«

      @@Uli_Krosse I wholeheartedly agree. I watch a few farm channels. I find farming interesting (not factory farming...the family farms). She is one of the most entertaining. Fun fact but this is also why golf courses have "Frost Delays" sometimes!
      If you walk/drive the golf carts around on the grass it kills it, so we have to hold our earliest players back until the frost softens. It saves a lot from having to replace the dead patches of grass if we just let play go through as normal.

    When you tie your laces, do it... backward? Do the half hitch, then a loop. Instead of going FORWARD away from you to loop the other string around, loop it TOWARDS YOU. Then tuck it through and arrange the loops. I have NEVER had a lace come undone short of catching it on something that way! ❤
    Double tie if needed to shorten the loops.
    For the velcro, take a pin and run it thru the side that has the hooks. Like cleaning out a hair brush! Do it in rows, pull out as much wool as you can. Maybe even some duct tape to pull the last loose wooly bits out. Sticky velcro again!

    Try buying EMS boots. Magnum EMS boots from the US will hold up really well to whatever you put them through & *REALLY* support the ankles & feet! I was a paramedic in the rural US for years & have a farm. They work well for both! I even wear them horseback trail riding. I get some strange looks from other farmers/riders but they work great for me. I have horrible ankles that love to roll and these boots prevent that. The zippers hold up really well as long as you clean & oil them occasionally & the laces they come with have always done well for me. I do however tuck the laces inside the top of the boot or under the top lace to help hold them.
    They aren’t cheap but a pair typically lasts me 2yrs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Don't know if anyone has suggested it yet, but you can swap out your round laces for flat laces instead. I always have to do that for my kids because those rounded laces refuse to stay tied even when you double knot them!

    I didn’t have to be an insomniac to see this one! I’m in Alaska and it’s snowing. So extra nice to see sheep running on green paddocks. I looked up prime lines and wow 🤩. I’m sure that guy made a fortune developing the prime lines.

    • @TaraFarms
      @TaraFarms  Месяц назад +6

      We didn't develop them, we've just jumped in earlier than most. I think they'll become a massive part of sheep as agriculture changes in the next few years.

      @@TaraFarms I think so too. I watched a video on RUclips about them. I think you should get in on the West Hampshire’s he’s calling the Waguyi of lamb. They are selling overseas for $$$. I thought about getting some to sell here but I live in beef country

    I wore English riding boots to work around the farm many years ago. They were quick and easy to put on, provided support and obviously leather to provide protection from the elements. Just a thought... Im in the US so not sure what they are somewhere else. Walking horse riders used them which is how I found them riding at barns and training horses.

    If you use a fine metal comb on velcro it will work again. I had problems with velcro not from sheep but a sheltie that i brushed a puppie out at least every other day...

    Bogs are a good boot. The zips stay up pretty good, and the strap at the top of the zip has a snap instead of Velcro. I also find that the laces stay done up fairly well, as well. They are on the more expensive side, but I've been wearing my pair every day for over a year. I'm not on a farm, but I am quite busy.

    I love the closed captioning - it gets so confused and when you say prime lines it says crime lines. So I guess it's correct in spirit - at least the fences would think so.

    Depending on which way around you tie the base knot for the bow, the bow will either be up down / or left right.
    Seems to work much better when the bow is pointing left right.
    The base knot can be varied by changing which lace goes below the other.
    Now this is possibly not the issue with your laces but in case it is, give it a try.
    Of course there is always the knot on top of the bow but that's a bit of a hassle.
    Well of course someone else commented that, i guess 2x doesn't hurt for the algorithm :)
    Have a nice day!

      @TaraFarms  Месяц назад

      Yes, our growing season is in winter. Because we don’t have much rainfall during summer and the grass dies

    Why are there sheep lambing now, as you're heading into winter? Hope that's not a stupid question 😅
    All the best to Slug, hope she recovers quickly!

    • @TaraFarms
      @TaraFarms  Месяц назад +3

      Not a stupid question. We have no feed here in summer. All the grass dies. We lamb from now through to September (usually) this year will be through to October. So lambs will start to getting to weight around October/November.
