Emma & Victoria knew each other when they were kids doing school performance, Melanie C & Victoria knew each other in their teens 'cause their school were rivals. Geri & Victoria knew each other in an audition for a TV drama in London & Posh did say, this is where she witnessed that Geri was stealing food (and this is the moment where Geri was skinned & really broke). Melanie B & Victoria (in 1993) passed the audition. Melanie C was in the waiting list (not yet joining the two). Geri didn't attend the audition, but joined Mel B & Victoria after a month or two. And after 2 unknown members (including Michelle Stevenson) were rejected & left, Melanie C was brought in & I believe this is the moment the band was called 'TOUCH.' And while they were still TOUCH, Emma was brought in by the recommendation of their vocal coach, Pepe Lemur. And after leaving the old management & doing demos, Geri suggested that the band name to be SPICE & the rest was history ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
... hello, just to rectify a few things - while I thank you for some aneddoctes I didn't know about how the girls already knew each other. * auditions were in 1994, not 1993. The first audition was on March 4th, 1994. * Mel C, too, passed the #1 audition; it was the second one (mid-April) that she wasn't able to join 'cause of serious tonsil problems. * the 'Touch' band at first included Victoria, Mel B, Geri, Michelle Stephenson and Lianne Morgan; later Morgan got replaced by Mel C. * Emma was one of two girls Lemer had in mind, in order to replace Stephenson. The first was Abigail Kis, even younger than Emma (about seven months) who stayed in the band very briefly. After Abigail left, Emma joined the girls toward the last week of July 1994.
Also, they were originally just gonna be called “Spice”…but record executives kept messing up their name and lazily calling them “those Spice girls”…so the “girls” part just kinda stuck. Thus were born, the Spice Girls
Very kind-hearted and genuine love between these _five_ women - unheard of! I mean, I was never much of a fan of their music, but I never hated it either. But now years later, I really enjoy watching their interviews. They are really lovely, polite, smart, funny, interesting, bubbly, kind & genuine women.
That was sweet, and I love how they came together, and they all love Emma. I think everyone kind of loves Emma in a protective way. I love how this was put together, very fun to see!
@@CrystalEye90210 Well Geri, Emma, and Victoria are from the London area and Mel C went to college in the London area as well. Mel B stayed in the North and Leeds and Liverpool are lie 2 hours apart.
I always found it confounding that she was "Scary" Spice. I wonder if she felt some kind of offense to that initially. Even as a young girl, I felt the term "Scary" was unfortunate.
Lol it’s Jamie Theakston, he interviewed the spice girls a lot back in the day, usually for the tv show “The O-Zone”. Their interviews together are some of their best, they always seemed to have a great time with him. His relationship with Mel B was always playful, acting like he was afraid of her and she’d retaliate by jumping on him or teasing him. It was just a funny act they put on, nothing more :) He also had a massive crush on Geri that they teased him about constantly
They were trying to say they knew each other because the media was slamming them for being a manufactured band but the truth is they had only seen each other at auditions and barely had any kind of friendship
they really did try to portray it that way. They did start off as manufactured but they really did turn it around themselves while they were looking for a new management after leaving Herbert. Geri had a lot of influence with the song writing and melody concepts. I do believe that their styles and personalities are organic, you can see it in the earliest of clips. They just enhanced it as they became more popular. manufactured originally? Yes but I do believe that they had a lot of power and control over a lot of aspects considering that they had more than half the Spice album written before they signed a record deal or had management (Simon Fuller), Geri convinced the other girls to leave the Herbert management because they were taking their time with a contract. They did an overnight runaway. They went and found the songwriters and producers themselves through the phonebook. they looked up their names, gave them a ring & persuaded Kennedy Elliot to work with them so he agreed. After the album was finished they went out and knocked on various record label doors and tried to get somebody to sign them. because they really had everything finished they had a lot of power and control over the contract, their style, band name, the singles they wanted to release, music video in put, the type of music they wanted to play, they have song writing credits on all of the songs.
sadly they were slammed for being manufactured but they really did turn it around and made it their own.. if you go back to some of the earliest videos from touch you can see Sporty, Scary, Ginger, Baby, and Posh before they enhanced their image. they still live like that today.
If it weren't for how "common" and streetwise she was, they probably wouldn't have made it as a group as she was the mastermind and pushing force behind it all in so many ways.
@@jollyfighter7319They're not saying she can't, obviously she can. But there's nothing wrong with pointing it out, it's true. She's common as muck, in the nicest possible way. She can be as pretentious as she wants but it doesn't change the facts.

Definitely. The chemistry they create together made everything. They bring so much energy when they’re together having fun!! ✨

i think its so amazing that even tho the group wasn't formed organicly they still had so much chemistry between them
So pretty much they all new Victoria 😆
I never even realised that while making the video haha: but yes, except for Mel B. But no one knew her lol

Geri looks so cute during the audition
“Hi, well I’m Deirdre-“
Scene.
Love how the most unlikely to succeed was Geri. Missing auditions and not the best singer or dancer but the attitude was most important
At this point Victoria could’ve put the group together lol.. I love this video
Ahh the good ol days! Wished they never ended!
I love mel b and mel c so much ..there my favorite spice girls
Same😊❤
i enjoy watching these girls😍
Best girl group of all time! 👍
Wow.. thanks for putting this together. They should really do a Spice Girls - Biopic because we really need one.
lol love the ending with baby spice x
Do you still have the video of victoria being interviewed at 2:37 please? It's been taken down from youtube :(
"she's not really posh spice, she should be common spice"
"I really want some of that popcorn"
Geris cheekbones are spectacular. Such refined bone structure 😍
I love them so much!
3:36 😂😂😂 Hi well I'm Deidre.
Victoria looked so beautiful with that original straight short hairstyle and with a healthy weight hope someday she stops caring about that so much :/
Agree
I want to see the full interview at 5:02 from the reaction the guy was tryna take them the mel b's horrible person... LOVE GERI For backing ❤
Right? I was like sir what are you trying to say?? Why would someone see Mel B and immediately assume she's terrible?

Oh to be a spice girl
Please put the subtitles available. Sorry 4 my English
Sporty's laugh is cute❤ 0:58 1:00
9:23 Ginger is a bad driver 😅
Funny how Emma was the last to join and she replaced someone and she became the favourite pretty much for a lot of people.
I can't even imagine the group without Emma, she was truly destined to be there.
