THE FACT THAT HER STYLIST TOLD HER TO NOT WEAR THAT AND JLOS STYLIST TOLD HER NOT TO WEAR THE JUNGLE DRESS... IMMEDIATELY FIRED
Funny that you mention the Versace jungle dress, Geri actually wore that very same dress a year BEFORE J-Lo at the NRJ awards in 1999!
A stylists job is to play it safe because if it backfires it's on them, not the person who was wearing it
reecewindsor10 - Who's Geri? Irrelevant, that's who! JLo made that dress, the dress didn't make JLo!
@@ejohnson3131 Considering the jungle dress revived Versace, you're probably onto something there.
itsjemmabond - Thanks! And yeah Versace was stagnant coming out of the 90's after Giani died and Donatella got into drugs. JLo pulled them out of that and Donatella has been extremely grateful for that. JLo wears Versace all the time and Versace features JLo in some shows as a guest of honor or actually walking on the runway and in some campaigns.
and I love love love the fact that the dress was her idea- not Gucci or any other media conglomerate, but purely Ginger
Agree!
Yeah! Ginger always was my fave, I love her attitude. Make me fell some kinda proud of her.
Totally!!!
Right Sophia,I to agree.I am a great fan of hers.
That dress was iconic and she started a whole trend so smart of her I even after she wore that I wore a sweater with the British flag I felt so happy wearing it and I'm American 😁
the dress in itself is iconic but the story about how it came about? brilliant
"As you grow older (this is the gift of age) you suddenly feel confident to cover up"
ABSOLUTELY AGREE 👏👏👏
It's funny how ginger spice is now actually more posh spice.
I find ginger more genuine too.
No, no no no. No.
@Julianne Lovesspiecgirl I agree. But she poses when she talks
But Posh spice is still very much posh!
@@darkond3523 ? Jealous that you aren't successful?
She aged well, and not just how fabulous she looks.
GugsGunny and Posh never aged at all.
I thought she was like...35 when she was in Spice Girls. Not sure if she aged well or just grew into her look. I mean: she was pretty, but not the "youthful" type of pretty
She's so pretty and classy and I could listen to her talk for hours!
Ketoonandoff heaps of help there with that one 🙏🏻😬🙏🏻
I honestly thought she looks old af... pretty but old
I like how proud she is about her different eras.
You can tell she was/is happy on her stages in life when it comes to fashion choices.
This is her now, she is happy, that's all that matters.
Yup.
I love that she got that dress and was like “this needs more tea towel.” She was absolutely correct too.
She is so soft spoken. It's beautiful listening to her.
I love that too.
Hearing her say “little black Gucci dress” takes me straight to the movie. ❤️❤️❤️
ArdenBijou exactly ! So Posh !
Thats where I was confused lol. I was like posh?
Yessss!!! I basically wore that VHS to the bone in my childhood. I loved that movie so much
"Little Gucci dress OR my little gucci dress"
Which little black Gucci dress, though?
She actually created a cultural reset. I didn’t know much about spice girls growing up but I did know about that iconic union dreas
Same!!!
The more I watch interviews of theirs I realise their succes is 10% their great looks 90% their charming, amazing, cheerful and splendid girly vibe.
She looks classic, has aged very elegantly.
Well, she also had quite a bit of plastic surgery. She looks great but definitely touched by an angel a few times👌🏻👌🏻
its called money
definitely had a glow up. She married the F1 boss. She grew up in council housing estate, and her accent has become more refined along with how she carries herself. It seems like she had elocution and etiquette lessons.
She would appreciate this comment
@France Et companies people that cant afford it?
That's like richer people generally look better BECAUSE THEY CAN AFFORD BEAUTY ENHANCEMENTS.
I'm sick o the reply "so what about cosmetic surgery?"
Uhm everything?
“As you grow older - this is the gift of age: you suddenly feel confident to cover up” I felt that!
I loved that quote as well.
I was listening to the video while reading the comments and read this at the same time she said it.
It's the reason why Geri feel confident to come back to Spice girls
This is a very weird thing. You shouldn't have to flaunt your body to feel confident ever in the first place regardless of your age. This kind of conditioning leads to the hypersexualization that is prominent in popular culture and media. No wonder younger women are fetishized.
Interesting that I've been that for a long time. I'm more confident covered up than showing myself to everyone. Also, who wants to shave their legs everyday? Not me lol
I was 7 in 1998 and still remember crying because she left Spice Girls 😂 At 7 years old Geri broke my little heart
Same here! I was more upset about Geri leaving than my parents divorce. Her leaving was the first time I felt depressed in my life haha.
Lily Vazquez omg my parents got divorced the year Geri left. I was 7. I was def more upset about her leaving lmao
Geri was my favorite spice girl and she still is 😭😭 I was so heart broken when she left I was literally crying I was screaming in my pillow
I was older...18 years old, and yes she broke my heart too!
I'm feeling sad about her story of leaving and letting go 😂 Oh my still has an affect on some people, and watching Viva Forever thought that Geri is the one who got in, in that box and lost 😔 Nooo Geri don't go!

Princess Diana’s black dress after confirming the breakup with Prince Charles
Audrey Hepburn - Breakfast at Tiffany’s dress
Lady gaga mtv 2010 iconic meat dress
@@maha7504 I don't think lady gaga counts.
And is not because I'm not a fan.
I think the comment is talking about an specific outfit most people will think about if they think of someone wearing their most famous look.
And before people say I'm hating on Lady Gaga.... I put Selena in that category too. 🤷♀️
I dont know how other people see Selena (Quintanilla) but in the Latino community she doesn't have a specific look.
If someone tells me
"Hey Taga, I'll dress like Selena this Halloween"
I'll ask
"what outfit?
Skirt, bodysuit, pants?
And what about the hair...
Mid up mid down, elaborate bun, loose?"
You know what I mean?
So if someone tells me
"I'll dress up like lady gaga"
There's a chance I will not guess the outfit,
But I'll have more chances to guess the marilyn monroe.
So yes, lady gaga's outfit are iconic, but this is not the type of category to have her.
In another list I'm pretty sure she will have 3 spots out of ten.
In this list, she's not even considered.
“the little gucci dress.. the little gucci dress.. OR, the little gucci dress” 🥰
Starla Arguijo this defines our age ... but proud of it !
omg 😭
Its sooo baadddd yet so fun to watch!!
Exactly.

Moral of the story, listening to people say "no" doesn't create history.
So true. So many iconic moments of pop culture and history started that way
@@MyFictionalChaos "well-behaved women seldom make history." I wholeheartedly agree with this quote.
@@SheWhoWalksWithLucifer
Truth!
YESS! EXACTLY!
@Notre Aira weird, because a quick glance down the conscription and war death lists, shipping disasters survival lists etc shows what happens to well behaved men who do what they're told. but sure doing the dishes is rough.
Never thought I would live to see Geri dressed up like a classic english lady with pearls and a tea set next to her!
That's what clever stars do - defy expectation.
Obvious stage dressing, but yes
I wouldn't have expected anything less she's always been a princess!
The thing that shocked me is the fact she’s not actually ginger!!! I was really surprised about that because she really does suit it.
“The 90’s was like the 60’s”
IVE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS and no one has agreed with me. Geri confirms.
Nah, she just meant in the way that it had a Deep, Distinct, Decade-Defining style! Not that they were similar decades 😄 lol
Everyone was saying that during the 90s; it's not original
Without a revolution and Woodstock
For me the '90s were more like the '70s.
And I recon we are back! Minus recent pandemic events :(
I wish I was in my 20s in the 90s... would have rocked those years
I was. So lucky. They were great times.

Nils Sternby duh. Find it now
She’s aged well, but then again so would everyone else if we were independently wealthy and then married the head of one of the wealthiest Formula 1 teams too....... the rest of y’all ain’t ugly, just broke lol
The last part 😂 thanks, girl!
aaaicila hahahaha you’re welcome! 🤣🤣
I 100% agree with the last sentement
That’s... so nice. “I’m not ugly, just broke” 😂
Her and Christian have 2 children now i believe
Geri was the driving force behind the spice girls. They succeeded because she was the oldest and knew it was her last chance to make it & her tenacity drove them to the top. She was definitely the ring leader.
Well she is a children’s book author, she published her autobiography that became a best seller and sold over 1 million copies in the UK alone. She had her own swimwear collection. She’s a goodwill ambassador for the UN. Not to mention she was a guest judge on the X factor and Australia’s Got Talent... her husband is very successful as well. She’s molded and grown into a very amazing woman.
Some people are giving her a hard time, because she has changed into a posher person. Nothing wrong with that. Her wild days are far behind her, she is now a mature woman and acts like one. Go, Geri!
Christine Stuart-Monteith I completely agree, so happy for all of her success. She’s made a new path for herself and is enjoying life. That’s what matters.
So happy to see when young famous people turn out ok. Also she's fuckin GORGEOUS man! God bless! 😍

wtf so fun to see you here xD
She was my favorite too! It’s funny to see you here. Wouldn’t think you’re a Spice Girls fan for some reason.
Brilliantly said
💖💖💖
Hi AntsCanada! How are your tarantulas? :D I think you should get an OBT and name it Ginger Spice :D
She looks almost unrecognizable here. Lol. Like... she looks like a Duchess.
She married a billionaire in the UK. She is a duchess now
She looks like a lady. She dresses appropriately for a mature lady.
@@jamesfair9751 chrisitan and geri pretty much have the same net worth although i admit Christian does get paid 10mil$ a year
His face is falling apart.
Ryan Tan She’s 47, not 87. She doesn’t have enough neck wrinkles to dress like that. She looks dry and over civilized. Maybe it’s a single bad choice but plenty of mature women dress in appropriate yet fashionable and modern ways. Very bad outfit. You must be 20 to think 47 is that old... Everything about her is unrecognizable.
she's not the best singer or dance of the group, but her feistiness and gimmicks are what made the Spice Girls an international phenomenon...
True, in latín América she was the favorite, we were children and did'nt even knew her dress print was a flag and everyone wanted to look like her.
Parents $$$ made them. Parents of 10-14 yo children
She had such a strong instantly recognisable brand..
Also she's so pretty you'd think it'd be fun if she dumped on your chest.
It's called charisma & like ability.
I was front row during the 2019 Spice Girls Reunion Concert. I was crying like a baby in a union Jack dress and Geri looked & smiled at me for a second... my whole childhood flashed back I swear. Thank you Geri for being so iconic! ❤️ I will forever be a fan
I’m jealous here in the U.S.
Thats cute ❤️
You are a very beautiful young woman! Im sure you are as lovely on the inside 🙂 🇦🇺
Which venue that u went to?
tinylilmatt went to Wembley June 14/15.. it was truly magical 😩
This is why she was my favourite Spice Girl - she seemed like she had a huge heart and really lived the girl power message, even taking risks to demonstrate it.
I am 39 and I think you perfectly captured how I am feeling at this in between age. Not young. Not old.
Approaching middle age? That’s why they call it that because it’s not old but not really young either
I love how she describes that as you age you feel confident to cover up, the evolution of being a woman. She spoke in a way that was genuine and very elegant.
"I can just be still. I can just be here. This is enough." - She spits out so many rad statements. Really cool mindset on her.
Yeah she can do it but that's not who she really is.
I agree. She is a proper thinker.I think she had more of a contribution to the Spice Girls than any will ever know Her contribution went way beyond singing and dancing. It was more important than that.
Funny story: I’m a director & just this year was over the moon when I found out she was voicing the lead of a film I did. Small small world… and she was amazing!! 🥰🌠💗💁🏽♂️
@@jbghumanjr Fantastic information JB.
She's a bit shy, grounded and stay truth to herself. Her 1st solo album is utter iconic and fun. Love her!
I’m crying ! She said there’s power in covering up ! Love it
Respect
the style back then is back in trend now it’s crazy how it comes full circle
CAM not as good though! You had to be there!!! Now I can afford it which is a nice treat!! Though I did just recently miss out on a nineties piece. Though there’s a lot of it about still - just have to know what you’re looking for...
Nothing new under the sun. 😅
She's like a totally different person now.
I miss the loud gobby 90’s Geri
And that's okay
Aging is quite an experience
I miss “Ginger” so much
She’s become more mature and confident and poised, she no longer hides behind a loud personality.....she’s calm within herself and I honestly think her evolution is admirable and beautiful. Women are so powerful.
My favorite part of this is that her sister sewed on a tea towel and she spray painted her boots. 🤣
Can we also have a moment and remember that amazing RED GLITTER JESSICA RABBIT DRESS she wore on the same night on the red carpet!!
Both looks were amazing! I love Geri!
Jessica Rabbit was based on the movie star Jayne Russell
The night she flashed her headlights!
Union Jack dress. Simply put- *ICONIC.* and it LITERALLY KEEPS GETTING BETTER.
This is what I actually imagine a middle-aged British woman looking like lmao
Plastic surgery is very rare in Britain though. So pretty much no British middle-aged women look like that. Maybe 2%.
@@BaldMancTwat Not to mention that all the money you have for the very best food, the best skin care and expensive treatments, you might take longer to get wrinkles without any injections or plastic surgery any way.
Maybe if a majority of British women were wealthy perhaps.
You'd be disappointed to come over here 😂😂😂
She looks 30 something lol
I turned 21 in 1999. The 90’s were truly the best decade of my life. I wouldn’t trade those years for anything. ❤️
She's the only one actually named after a spice. She was too real for them.
"As you grow older, this is the gift of age, you suddenly feel confident to cover up."
So true! ❤️❤️❤️
@Ray Patson it suppose
@Ray Patson aging is beautiful. You can embrace and love every stage of your body. Its really sad to see people treat womens bodys like milk that goes bad.
Hamish LearningCoach 👏🏾👏🏾 you finished him sis
MarisaScott LearningCoach agreed girl. If I could count all the 25+ year olds at least that flirted with me when I was 13... whew.
They still like older women but they like the vulnerability and lack of knowledge younger women have cause they’re easier to fool.
I love how she's so secure about a her legacy as a pop icon. She never tried to recreate the moment but made the past compliment her present.
kimmie fonze this is beautiful!
Growing up with the Spice Girls, this is such a sight to see Geri all pearls and afternoon tea
The power of the Spice Girls is no joke. When I listen to them or watch videos of them back in the 90’s and present they give me that comforting nostalgia, that everything is ok and your going to be ok, we’ll get through this together! That is hard to do on any level and they did and are still doing so with perfection! 👑🇬🇧✌🏼☮️💖✨💋🥰
Now: her sitting proper in all white like she’s going to meet the Queen for tea.
A few years ago: Ramsay I’m calling your mum!

Lol you was probably one of the ones that said, “Bye 2019, 2020 is my year!” During New Year’s 🤣
That dress is everything! It screams POWER
This dress was an iconic moment! I remember watching the Brits and being IMMEDIATELY infatuated with it. I wanted the doll - I wanted ALL the photos. I even painted it LOL - I will always be a Geri fan - even time cant change that.
Wow her advise about being in the 30s and in the middle between two different people and it’s sooo true.. I look nothing like in my twenties but don’t think I’m old at all
Same, I relate 100% with what she said.
I’m turning 30 in a few months and it’s finally hitting me that it’s... going to be different. I always figured I’d be married and maybe have kids by now, so it’s throwing me. It’s supposed to be a new era in a way, but everything has been the same for five years. Well... I’m different. But everything else is exactly the same. Weird dichotomy.
I totally agree with what she said. It’s about finding yourself in a crossroad and yet feeling totally comfortable with it. I’m almost 35 and I know I am not as young as 20 something, but I still feel young as ever. It’s not just merely aging but maturing and I find that empowering.
Right. Like my wallet has a change pocket and a cartoon elephant but my 401k is poppin. Style is even worse. I started just going super simple.
Amara Jordan It doesn’t get that different. But it’s easier to figure out what really matters.
When I was a kid I legitimately thought the Union Jack was just the Spice Girls flag LOL
carley junelle same lol
I have no words! Are u American?
@@Girlsplaybass haha, no Canadian actually. I can assure you my parents tried to convince me otherwise, but the flag was on the dress AND the bus... So it must be the spice girls flag right?? Lmao
Iconic
It is the SG flag for many!
I can’t quite describe how much I enjoyed that. Having grown up alongside the spice girl hysteria, I idolized them. Her poignant description of the evolution of girl power was spot on. I almost feel I’ve had a lightbulb go off. “Confident enough to cover up.” Mid-thirties has been a difficult transition for me. That has immediately released some pressure. ❤️✌🏼🇬🇧

The spice girls are great. Icons maybe but it was the 90's. Let's not forget that they called their only black member, SCARY SPICE! Yikes! It was literally picked by one of the record people/team.
Sky Gabriel it wasn't about them being icons. I'm speaking of what type of empowerment they had.. Let's remember she was born in the United Kingdom so the fact her skin tone was our shade I never heard her mention how upset she was because of it..also known as Mel B, scary spice liked to roar like a lion A lot ... Idk bout you but when lions roar that's scary lol... Yes it was the 90's but look at the year 2020... Where in the United States women label themselves as Bi****s wearing close to nothing & sexualized on our tv screens.. My daughter is 2. Which decade you think is better for her to watch....
Sky Gabriel honey they didn’t name themselves those nick names. A reporter did and she didn’t name scary that because she was black. Scary was very dominant and wild. Before she was a spice girl she was a stripper. Scary gladly took the name and honored it.

This video just shows how big and iconic this dress was and still is. I remember watching the Brit Awards aged 5 and being mesmerized by these five girls. This iconic Brit Awards dress was on the cover of newspapers across the world.
This was so lovely to watch. It is inspiring to see how Geri has grown and how she remains positive. I also have to say it was inspiring to see her support Age UK . I must admit as Geri has grown up she now reminds me of a GP I used to have who was very kind and lovely. I think that kindness resonates in Geri. She appears at ease and peace with herself.

When Geri got out of the Spice Girls, that's the only heartbreak that I can remember... I mean, it was the Spice Girls. And yes, the 90's were the 60's, well put it.
Their fashion was so eclectic, flashy, and timeless.
I like that she’s still proud of the dress and embraces it, even as a middle-aged woman with pearls and riches. It makes me sad that Victoria grew up and turned around to trash young girl groups for also wearing short dresses.
