When Willow brings the snapping turtle it’s kinda funny since that’s how modern day fire bases operate but usually with a patrolling or probing force. Usually a light infantry with QRF in place to either reinforce the attack or provide a rear action defense for the retreating attack units. It has been US doctrine when attacking a fortified position when air support is not available
Most UEF game ever.
We’ve especially seen artillery batteries used in this fashion during the conflict in Ukraine from both sides.
This was a bit of a painful match to watch. Astronoob snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. If you're going to turtle up as your main strategy, then you need to make it count by investing hard into economy. Get every free T1 mex you can, upgrade all your rear mexes into T3 asap, build support commanders, and just surge ahead of your opponent in eco. The only purpose of the firebase play should be to serve as a distraction to your opponent to soak up their APM and force them to over react with shields. If you mix in TML, your opponent would also need to spam up TMDs. The firebase should be a throw away designed just to keep your opponent busy while you focus on further developing your eco. By 35 minutes, you should be bringing in 1k mass/sec and be able to spam out fatboys all day long... The lack of back line harrassment also was completely missing. A few T1 arty air drops mixed into the backline would have kept your opponent firmly on the backfoot... ah well, what can we say? it was a noob game.
35 minutes for 1k mass is unrealistic. 35 minutes for 300-400 is more realistic

During astronoobs forward fire base defense from the 1st fat boy could’ve been successful with a combined assault from the south western fire base to divide the attention of fire. The absence of action has been detrimental to his advantage of applying pressure to the main base and economy
I do think that Astro noob will micro manage correctly with the mongoose but I don’t think it changes the trajectory of the match it’ll be more likely an error of run by becoming overwhelming to react or air supremacy with the ability to take advantage of the situation and strat bomb or gunship snipe the com
@willow's Duality, If you use OBS to record try using reaper audio plugins for OBS to help sort ya sound out while you are getting your room sorted, it has a lot you can do with sound to make it better,
I thought the "noob" suffix was for 2k+ players only. But a 1 hour game and no strategic artillery makes me sad...
Astro definitely lost due to losing the advantage of position whether he thought the forward artillery battery was sufficient or distracted with economy balance but the loss of the forward position and lack of pressure from the southwest allowed killerofmen to swing the momentum in his favor.
As a loyal and long time subscriber of Willow's only fan I am deeply disappointed that my annual stipend of £2.50 has not been better spent on better sound production.
I am willing to up my subscription to Gold tier as I love seeing Fat Boys getting pushed down throats.
I also subscribe to Astro's OF, he'ss anything but Micro. with something that big I can see why they call it "killer of men".

Yeah, I have fun with it, my advice for watching stuff like this has always been just laugh at the absurdity. If you know how to play better you can see the mistakes but you can also just see how silly things are. like the tanks sitting in the back of the enemy base just chilling lol.
