    This video explains proper charge move timing very well. I was absolutely horrible at denying and sneaking fast moves, and only had a decent internet connection. That means I’ve been learning this proper fast move timing for months, which put me at a disadvantage against those with strong internet connections who could deny and sneak. I’m excited to see how this update will change the way gbl is played, and how it will even out the playing field for those like me who weren’t able to take advantage of such an inconsistent mechanic. Thanks for making this video and allowing those who weren’t used to this timing to start learning it quickly.

      You were horrible at it because there was no skill involved. It was purely random

    • @masterblaster2678
      @masterblaster2678 2 года назад

      @@whatawer11 It felt like it wasn't even random, I was always the one getting consistently screwed over. I figured it's my internet connection but when I checked the wifi on my PC it was fast. I didn't get why their fast moves kept sneaking through but mine never did, I tried tapping faster, timing correctly, using weird tricks like tapping the charged attack button and then tapping somewhere else rapidly to "queue up other moves to confuse the system" or whatever the heck it was that I read somewhere online. %80 of the time their fast attacks would sneak through.
      Now the playing field is even. I like it.

      Sneaking in fast moves during charged attacks is an intended game mechanic. Niantic said so before. Charged attacks are supposed to take up 2 turns, which would allow for most fast moves to sneak in.
      It's better this way, when denial was the meta it made no sense to use anything but spammers who charge in 3-5 fast moves. Now you have to play better with your spammers, you have to sometimes throw the nuke move so as not to give your opponent too many free moves.

  • @Fiyaaaahh
    @Fiyaaaahh 2 года назад +4

    Catching charge moves on a 4/5 turn pkmn and now getting a guaranteed fast move through is quite a game changer because you get 4/5 turns for free.

    • @hemerocallis463

    I think a problem that people might have as I do is that we usually count opponents' fast moves for charge move prediction.
    Having to count myself for optimized charge move timing while count opponents fast moves feel too overwhelming (well...at least for me)
    So a less optimized version for myself is to just focus on opponents fast move and don't throw charge moves right after the alignments. Not sure if it makes sense but sometimes if I do it well I guess it's working.
    Do you have any insight from that perspective how to optimize charge move timings?

    • @viniciuskfm
      @viniciuskfm 2 года назад

      You can count your own fast moves and keep in mind how many those mean for your opponent's fast moves. As in: 7 counters from my Toxi is optimal timing to throw against an umbreon; also, n that time, the umbreon threw 5 snarls, so, if they run confusion, they can unleash it the next turn

    • @masterblaster2678
      @masterblaster2678 2 года назад

      You'll have to look at each move's cast time. I'm gonna go with the above comment's example. Say, your opponent has Snarl. You count them going for 4 Snarls and then they throw the charged up Foul Play. Your Pokémon has Counter as a fast move. Snarl takes 1.50 seconds to cast, Counter takes only 1. It would take them 6 seconds to charge up to Foul Play. By that time you'd have gone for 6 Counters, and 1 extra if you managed to sneak one in (now that it's almost guaranteed you most likely will). That makes 7 Counters.
      Use your opponent's move count to deduce your own, take the charge move wait time as a "thinking break" and do the math. Never stop counting the opponent's moves.

    I have trouble timing charge moves after a switch-in and fast moves aren’t lined up like the start of a battle. I try to wait until it looks like both our fast moves have started at the same time and then begin counting for timing purposes, but sometimes quite a few fast moves have been thrown before I recognize they’re lined up which can be bad. Is there a better way to time charge moves after a switch-in? Thanks for the help!

  • @hecto_del_angel

    Good luck having two charge moves ready, going up against a powered up Scrafty with a powered up counter, you loose two turns meaning those counters are going to hurt. Or going up against a shadow hypno that "sneaks" in two confusions.

    • @IkeTheBot
      @IkeTheBot 2 года назад +1

      True, but then you “sneak” a move back when they throw their charge move. If you don’t want them to sneak, throw on CMP or don’t throw a charge move at all. This update makes it consistent and more fair for all players.

    So if I feint the opponent's 2nd mon, have 1hp and a charged move stored why do I keep losing to their switch in? Every time the damage from their final mon kills me before I can release the charge move. I can't work out if that is the new intended mechanic... if it is, it sucks.

    • @viniciuskfm
      @viniciuskfm 2 года назад

    The mirror matches makes me really depressed. So basically there is nothing you can do to get ahead or behind in those matches. So those umbreon mirrors or the cress mirrors in ultra you can basically just look away from the screen until your switch clock comes up because there's nothing you can do to swing the match but pray you have some iv breakpoints or something over your opponent.

    • @XKoribanX
      @XKoribanX 2 года назад +7

      It's a mirror match.
      That's... literally the point. Imagine if in the VGC your cresselia vs enemy cresselia, you suddenly got to take 2 turns to their 1... it's asinine right?
      Before, you just prayed to RNG that you were more favorable with denials than them, which isn't really a fair system. Now arguably CMP is more important in a mirror match, but also keeping track of energy. You may choose to "catch" a move instead of staying in the mirror if you know you're losing CMP.
      But fear not!
      Mirror matches with cress has moonblast attack debuffs RNG that can completely swing the mirror =) You have something you can pray for.

    • @PetterNe
      @PetterNe 2 года назад

      Play a less simple game and you don’t have this problem. As already mentioned, the previous RNG favoritism didn’t exactly make it more skill based.

    • @XXLRebel
      @XXLRebel 2 года назад +2

      Yeah, this makes moves like confusion and incinerate way too overpowered. There should be a drawback with these powerful moves. Now if you have two moves stored against a Hypno for example they can get two whole moves in while you throw. You shouldn't be penalized for storing moves. Now it doesn't even matter if you're conservative with your energy. It should be denied everytime. Game is definitely becoming less fun
