    Very interesting. My theory on why it works like it does is the following:
    If you get in another fast move to the general queue (contains both his/your actions) directly after you're charge move action, you're good.
    Game checks: Charge move of player A is next. Proceeds to check: what would be the next action? Oh thats a fast move of player A, thats not able to go with the charge move, so charge move time.
    Whereas in the regular scenario where directly after the shared general queue player A gets charge move in, player B gets in the first fast move after. Game checks: Charge move of player A. What is next in the queue? Oh thats a fast move of player B. Yes these guys can go simultaneously, lets run em both.
    This is just a theory though. If its right, this would mean that its just important that after you activate charge you ASAP get in just one fast move. If thats gone through earlier then an opponents fast move, you're good. So could try to just tap one fast move really fast after charge to see if fast move denial still works. If it does, this theory could be right. If it doesn't, well its not there must be more to it.
    In practice though, spamming fast moves instead of just rapidly tapping 1 after ur charge can never be worse though so might aswell spam fast moves. Another interesting part about this theory: If its right, this means that for the opponent (player B) its actually crucial to get in his fast move after A presses charge. This means that rapidly spamming the screen could be the best chance to counter this, as its less likely for player A to both get in his charge move and his next fast move without player B sneaking a fast move in between them.

    • @Wallower
      @Wallower  3 года назад +1

      Interesting theory, if you are correct then unfortunately tapping your screen incredibly rapidly would become the play on both sides

    i'm so glad kieng made his video on this today. i had heard about your video but hadn't watched it because i thought fast move denial WAS the technique where the two fast moves being used have a different turn length, and you time your charge move so that they only get one free turn. kieng's video made me realize i was missing the point so i came straight here to learn how to do it properly.

    • @Wallower

    Thank you for this! I have had this problem that my fast moves are not going through on the same turn as my opponent use their charge for a long time which has pretty much forced me to try to hit CMPs in equal fast move length match ups to not get one fast move behind. When I learn this I can at least deny my opponent their free fast move so that we fight on equal terms.

    thanks for this video! in practice i'm finding denying their fast moves (or getting my own in) quite inconsistent. For example, in open ultra i play the cresselia mirror match quite frequently. i always attempt to fast move deny the opponent, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. what i find very confusing is that very often the opponent throws right away (after 7 psycho cuts) and sometimes i get an extra fast move in and sometimes i don't. however, usually whether or not i do appears to be consistent within a single match. is this understood? does it depend on the opponent's phone or connection?

    This video is informative, but you should really add in slow motion gameplay in to give clear examples along the way. It’s easier to shorten the video that way as well because it’s so clear and direct. Most people won’t retain this information very well with simply having text PowerPoints and verbal explanation. This will be the difference between a viral tutorial and non viral. It would also allow for this video to be like a 3rd the length.

      I always appreciate the feedback. The main reason I include all of the PowerPoint as background is if I don't then I get hundreds of questions on reddit and youtube that I have to end up answering individually which ends up taking hours. I can definitely try to maybe overlay clips onto the presentations to save time and keep people engaged as I've just learned how to do that haha. I added slow motion gameplay to the end but maybe I should rename the chapter so people will know to fast forward there for what they are looking for

    I have been trying this strategy and am familiar with the basics but can’t seem to execute it consistently. It seems like I either tap the move too early, and don’t do my fast move (letting them get a free move) or somehow I tap the move at the beginning of my animation, but it doesn’t queue the attack, and I end up throwing another fast move. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    • @Wallower
      @Wallower  3 года назад +1

      An issue with this technique is consistency for sure. No one I've talked to is able to execute it 100% of the time. It seems both of the issues you are having would come from tapping too early in the animation, maybe try waiting a split second more until these issues stop happening

    • @Wallower
      @Wallower  3 года назад

      It is very frustrating for sure. I don't get it 100% of the time either especially for 2 turn moves. I think take the focus off the timing (timing should just be asap after the animation starts) and focus on spamming your screen after you hit the charge move once

  • @ninevip8161

    • @Wallower

      Just be tapping the screen decently fast. You need to make sure your next fast move animation starts so wait a split second after your energy fills.

    Does this work with cuno v. cuno? Do I wait for them to hit the icy wind first (instead of CMP tie), then quickly tap fast move then my icy wind? Does this work on Dialga v. Dialga? Can it turn an unfavourable match where the opponent has breakpoint because of their hundo?

    • @Wallower
      @Wallower  3 года назад

      It can work on cuno vs cuno but you have to consider if you would win cmp. Cuno vs cuno is an interesting case because of the debuff (assuming no shields) whichever cuno gets icy wind off first will do more damage. If you are planning on shielding the first icy wind I would use this technique to prevent their extra ice shard on the first icy wind and then you should beat them to the second icy wind and win the matchup.
      It won't work with dialga vs dialga unfortunately because it doesn't work with 1 turn moves. It can be used to flip IV dependant matchups as long as the finishing blow would be a charge move (example toxicroak vs toxicroak)

      @@deadpeng you have to click on the charge move on the first half of your attack animation, so lile right after you begin your attack. The most important part is that you spam your fast move right after until your charge move activates

    • @Wallower

      Mechanics in most competitive games begin as exploits. Like wave dashing in smash for example. That being said I do wish Niantic would fix the inconsistency so we wouldn't have to do this

  • @Mangalex28

    Well, your technique doesn't work.
    I charge my charged move, I do ONE MORE fast move and instantly press the charged move once, like you said... if anything, this only made things worse for me. Everytime I do it, the opponent gets a free move.
    Meanwhile I get fucked.
    I wrote to Niantic because I was super angry and I asked them to fix this:
    "Sorry trainer, here, have a free pass"... disrespectful.

    • @Wallower
      @Wallower  3 года назад +1

      Yeah it seems you get a free pass for everything nowadays. This technique works for most people but I have seen on certain people's phones it doesn't work at all. I'm not sure if it's based on connection or phone or what but it is unfortunate if it is happening to you. I would try tapping faster on your screen after you hit the charge move button once

      @@Wallower I'll try! Tbh Im already super quick but we'll see.
      Oh, while you're here, there's one small thing I don't get: you said to click the charged move in the first turn of the quick move (so basically right after my fast move animation starts right?) But you also said "or when you get the energy gain in the bubble". But those don't occur at the same time right? It's two choices (two different turns) that we have?

    • @Wallower
      @Wallower  3 года назад +1

      @@Mangalex28 sorry if I was confusing, click it as soon as your animation starts. I think what I was trying to refer to was that the bubble has to be filled for you to be able to click it, not that you should click it as soon as it's filled. Sorry for the confusion! Hopefully it works out for you or they just fix this bug
