Just got the SC2 Pro and a GSI wheel, and coming from belt-drive I can honestly say it has gained me tenths on my best laps and at least a half second on my average lap times. The amount of extra detail I get lets me actually feel the car’s limit immediately, and I can trust my instincts to correct over/understeer, react to bumps and tire slip, etc. It’s a night-and-day difference.
Which Belt Drive did you have? Considering upgrading from my CSW 2.5 to simcube
@@ajilawal9509 I had a Thrustmaster TS-PC Racer. For reference, guy on my team upgraded from CSW to Direct Drive (VRS DD) and it was his description that made me pull the trigger. It was a night-and-day difference in detail, ability to correct oversteer, ability to feel understeer, etc. We both do open wheel road-racing (on iRacing). Not sure how big the difference is for oval, but for road, IMO it's a must-have, even over belt-drive. We both got faster and more consistent.
Updates:
- Torque can be activated by default now, no need to activate it again every time you fire up the wheelbase (comes with tons of confirmation dialogues, warning you how incredibly dangerous that is :-D ).
- The beeping issue is resolved as well, I think, it turns itself off after a certain time. At least I forgot to turn it off and I did not notice any prolonged repeated beeping.
Thanks Dan for this review! I tried the settings you explain, finally my steering feels like it should be because I was a bit puzzled in the beginning
I just gave in and placed an order. It will be my first DD wheel. Wont know myself coming from a Thrustmaster T500rs.
I don't know if you got your simucube yet, but this is the best way I've found to describe the difference: I went from a G29 to a Fanatec CSW v2.5 and I was blown away by how much smoother and more responsive the v2.5 was. I felt so much more detail and was able to catch and correct mistakes much easier. Then, when I upgraded to my SC1 small mige from the v2.5, it was basically the same kind of upgrade. Settings and your sim of choice will have an effect too, but regardless you will LOVE it.
@@angryginger791 I have it now and love it. So much power and detail.
Good review!
I went from a Large MiGe 10k encoder to a SC2 Ultimate.
There is a difference, but I expected it to be larger one.
I would go with the Pro model and save 1500 euros..
But Pro meant to have even smaller difference isnt it? Im interesting about the difference between Pro and Ultimate. Is it worth 1500 euros?
I've never tried any of DD wheels and can judge based only on numbers. On paper Ultimate looks not so head and shoulders above Pro, but costs twise as much.
BUT, if I pick Pro I always be bothered with thoughts like "Hm, it is not the best. There is something better out there. How Ultimate would be....?" and all the stuff like this.
As person with experience with DD wheels what can you say? Did you tested Pro? Is Ultimate gamechanging comparing to Pro?
Should I just pick to Pro and not to bother by all this Ultimate marketing trap?
Vladislav Kalinin Well that’s called greed mate
Vladislav Kalinin Having something nice but disappointed because you didn’t get the best. That’s just pure greed
@@alextanner3500 Nope. That's "your" definition of greed.
@@vladislavkalinin1560 With that mentality, you'll just end up buying everything new that's being released all the time. Pro is more than good enough. Unless you plan on driving with full FF with 32Nm (does anyone even do that, other than just to test how it feels?), I see no reason to get the Ultimate. Heck, I don't even know about anyone that uses full FF on Pro or Fanatec DD2.
Got the Simucube 2 sport and its by far strong enough for 99% of the users. Usually run it at 10-14 nm and 17nm if I wanna suprise some friends lol.
Just ordered the 25nm Pro, and thought about letting my 72 year old father try out the wheel at high torque, but I'm afraid it'll break his old man arms. Not the kind of surprise he'd enjoy too much. ;)
Just ordered a Simucube 2 Pro as my second DD wheelbase (After my new Fanatec GT DD Pro had too many frustrating connection issues) ...
I just hope I don't overload my already taxed 120v power circuit with this beefy setup -- Already got a 4090/13900k, two Adam A7X powered monitors, and an 65" LG C1 TV , along with a few other lower powered devices on the same circuit.
There is a new version with only one 450W Power Supply :)
Subbed. Clean presentation. Nice
6:03 & 6:25 (FYI) The quick release design is an angled *_sliding dovetail_* secured with a through-pin / locking quick-release pin.
I bought the sc2 pro one month ago. And it is my first DD wheel. I use it around 6 hours plus everyday. And am soo happy with it! I knew before i got it that this is amazing product. But damn its technological art! I havent tried the sport, But i can imagen its more then enough for me. For the same wage reason as u i got the pro instead:P Nice chill video:) But yeah def getting my sub!
Do you stay sore after that much time on it? I just ordered the sc2 pro and very excited to try it. My shoulders were starting to get a little sore even using a 5nm Fanatec DD for a few hours, so I imagine the Simucube will be an excellent workout.
Did it make me faster well, No! Thanks for being honest but, to be fare at your level and the level of equipment your using progress is relative. I feel someone with less skills and experience would benefit more from a DD wheel right off the bat. I have become frustrated with Fanatec software. I'm happy with my CS V2.5 but, have concerns with there DD wheels and lack of good software package. I'm looking at the Simucube 2 Pro for my next upgrade. Keep up the videos.
Hi Dan another great video, really funny, thanks!
I just got a SC 2 Pro but I haven't set it up yet, what are the in game settings you use within iRacing? I love how smooth you drive compared to some of the other RUclips Sim driver's I watch, Matt Malone looks like he's boiling the tires off the way he drives (I do like the way he drives using a stick shift though), on the other hand you look like your going for a Sunday drive!!
Should have quilified better!
Hi Dan I have since set up my SC2 pro and edited the "app.ini" iRacing file as suggested in the True Drive software, in iRacing FFB options I checked the 3 boxes, set the Wheel Force to 25Nm, the Damping to 0%, Min Force to 0% and I am playing with 50Nm --> 60Nm for the Max Force. Does that sound right? What do you use for Max Force? And when doing oval races what values do you use for the "Static Force Reduction" ? Thanks again you rock!
Porsche Cup is definitely the best!
ikr! :D
Mandatory WW2 joke 10/10
Your OSW had a Lenze and you felt cogging? I have an OSW with Small MiGE, Biss-C and I don't experience cogging at all. Zero cogging. I've heard other people say that the difference is extremely subtle, so I don't know what to believe to be honest.
No, never felt any cogging on any simucubes.
Q: you compared to cogging in your SC1 - did you go through the Granity Configuring_cogging_torque_compensation steps on your SC1? I bought a 2nd hand SC1, initially I accepted cogging as normal for 'budget wheel', but spending in Granite device support site I was really impressed applying the tuning section tp completely counter the load & no load cogging on my Mige 130ST-M10010.
Is that power issue causing your circuit breaker to trip still happening on these units? Or has this been resolved with firmware?
I don’t know - I just added a rush input current limiter
studio setup is good, music choice is good, the rig setup is great, all you need to do is work on your talking and talk bit faster and get in and out of subjects faster. there could be more simucube cuts when you were talking but thats fine. btw share your vid its good.
marble89 thanks appreciate the feedback :D
Nice review, I am trying to figure out if I am to buy the Simucube or the Fanatec DD option.
How is the costumer support for the Simucube products Dan ?
It’s excellent!
@quirkitized KEKW
Hi Dan I've just bought the SC2 Pro and was wondering whether you have changed any settings in True Drive from the one posted on your Discord channel please? Also what are your in game settings please?
Check my recent videos, I made a video about my settings a few weeks ago 😊
Hey Dan. Great video. Does Simucube 1 still make sense in 2021? Considering it comes in at about 1000 USD as compared to 2300 USD (in my country considering shipping and customs). Will Simucube still be a good experience coming from a T300RS?
How much is the VRS DirectForce Pro in your country? I would recommend that!
Hey Dan, thanks for the video! I just had my S2 Pro turn up recently but are struggling a bit getting a good setup in iRacing. Do you mind posting your iRacing settings somewhere? Thanks!
Hey Dave, I have them on my discord in the FAQ section :)
@@DanSuzuki Thanks! So you don't change any settings in the iRacing ini file?
Nice video
Hallo bekommt man das Wheel im Moment noch?
I’m Upgrading from a Fanatec CSL elite. Do you think the SC2 sport is good enough or should I go with Pro?
Sport is more than enough I think :) also have a look at the VRS DFP - imo better than the SC2
Hi Dan, love your content and live streams! Do you know if this wheel base has holes on the bottom to mount to a GT Omega ART cockpit? I know the Fanatec DD1/2 has. Not sure on this simucube does.
No but you can get an adapter ... if you buy it at simracingbay it comes with one for free :)
I bet that ART rig will gonna shake like hell. Do your self a favor and get an aluminium rig first. Don't mount a 2000€ dd wheel on a 200€ rig :p
@@AndreMiguelLopes69 actually you are wrong, you don't have to run a DD wheel at max force! The whole point is more detail! Most if not all people who have DDs run them at half power!
@@AndreMiguelLopes69 Also Dalking one of if not the fastest sim racer on ACC runs a DD1 on a GT Omega ART cockpit! I asked him what's it like and he said awesome on the GT Omega! Hardly any shake/flex!
@@sv650scotty Ok, fantastic !
Hallo Dan.. kurze Frage
What kind of limiter do you use for the powersuplies?
I just put them on 2 Mehrfachsteckdosen and turn them on one after the other :D
@@DanSuzuki Thanks!
Can you do an update to this video? It is worth it in 2023?
Yes absolutely - it's still the best base on the market :)
What’s the best mounting bracket for the SC2? I’ve got a next level GT cockpit
Front mount would be the best, but I'm not sure if you can get that for the NLR GT.
Why do you have such an input-lag between your inputs and the graphical wheel? Since I bought my Samsung HG90 using the Accufore I never saw any lag at all. In iRacing not even while using an older 4k TV, but with the Samsung HG90 it's even perfectly synced in ACC. I ordered the SC2 Pro yesterday just to change the FFB after 5 years of AF, but now I think of canceling since I saw this lag not only in your video.
Always had that lag in ACC, no idea why - on iRacing its just fine :D
@@DanSuzuki What display and graphics card are you using? Is vsync on? RTX 2080 with HG90 (1080p) is lag free here no matter how fast I wiggle in which sim, but not running ultra in ACC. The input lag seems fps and even more hz depended, maybe pp filter. I don't know, but streamers always have it. This guy from Boosted Media even has a huge lag in iRacing despite running two highend PCs with one just for streaming. Even on SRG I saw a lag while Barry was testing the SC2 and he's not streaming. So I hope you are right and it has nothing to do with the SC2.
@@Leynad778 2080ti/10900k on a the c49hg90. might be just the lag from the wheel, never noticed anything unusual ingame
@@DanSuzuki This setup should run completely lag-free and with a lagging graphics you get everything a bit later, not just the wheel. I just watched your iRacing-footage and I see a lag there as well that I don't call in sync. Have you enabled Free-Sync? Not me! I post a link to my ACC-settings after this post and just discovered you can save your settings now in ACC, so try these. The mirror-settings are very hungry btw.
@@Leynad778 Thanks, if I should try ACC again I'll give those a try :) Monitor is not running any sync since I'm using HDMI because of the capture card!
Anyone know if simagic gt1 wheel works w/simucube?
Protip: Don't start off with a slurp and a gulp. I didn't get past that before I left.
ruclips.net/video/IABoOLA9ftk/видео.html&t=4 here's a link without it for you .. :D
Currently using Fanatec dd1, and since i upgraded to simtrec pedals I am ready to ditch Fanatec fully. Torn between Simucube 2 pro, and Sim Magic Alpha U anyone have any opinions?
I was in the same boat, I think that simucube is best software and quality and durable product, easy with setups of other people to put settings, and wireless battery last A LOT, so I definetly suggest u go with simucube. Chinese clones of simagic are coming around, the real deal is granite devices. So specialized in simracing for years.
for the rhythm :D
New models of the pro model only use a single power supply.
Lenze * :D
Kirill Insomnia Lenze is from Hameln, Germany, not from Austria 🤷🏻♂️ could be it’s a Lenze motor, but then it’s a German motor
A comment
Good Video with horrible short cuts. Are you not able to talk in one piece?
I just like the cuts to be honest :D
I'll try to use less cuts next time!
