Blake Lewis is awesome. Here though I get the vibe of Bobby Darin doing a Prima impression. But BLAKE Lewis is one of the MOST authentic of the male singers you use. Too many of the EXCELLENT vocalists come at this style with a modern "talent show" voice. It is detracting. I grew up in the era with Carmen, Peggy, Julie London etc. so I (fortunately/unfortunately) have their voices in my head when I watch you wonderful videos. I am a vocalist who went to high school in Vegas in the mid 60s. Talented people from my school were ushered right into union apprenticeship on the Strip... some as performers, dancers, stage hands and of course show vocalists...(in the house show of course.) Love it Scott..just keep it real and authentic!

(love her voice btw). true story: in the 90's I was in the Sands in LV and off in a corner I heard this most beautiful and familiar voice and there she was....singing her heart out...tucked in a corner bar with a great small band. very sad actually to think that this one time big name that headlined so many of those marquee signs was relagated to a corner and most just passed by not even knowing who they had passed. sorry for the babble but nostalgic stories are a great way to savor the past.

There was a character that did sound effects/beatboxing in "Police Academy"(1984), which made 81 million dollars (that's 185 million in 2015 dollars - almost as much as the new "Mission Impossible" made - so clearly a lot of people saw it.)
Furthermore:
"La-di-da-di" Slick Rick &Doug E. Fresh (1985)"Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (1990-1996) numerous episodes with Will Smith beatboxing
"Eight Mile" (2002) some beatboxing when Eminem freestyles
"Men In Black 2" (2002) more Will Smith beatboxing
"Rock your Body" Justin Timberlake (2003)
In addition to those, there are probably dozens and dozens of examples that I can't remember.
Very familiar with Police Academy as parts of the film was made near where I live , beat boxing though as specific to music was pretty unheard of to the common music stream. Its like saying Jimmy Hendrix invented effects on the guitar which the Yardbirds had been using years and years previous and Les Paul put it out there so everybody.
The things Blake did was not just drum noises but incorporating so many more sounds musically related. Something country and classical fans had not had any exposure to at the time by being on American idol he opened the scene up to a MUCH huger audience than any one person had done so previously.
Dude less negativity give Blake the cred he is due he is not a carbon copy of the typical performer cranked out of the American music scene. I guess if he swore more and was promoting guns and violence and dropped N bombs he would be more marketable
