They used him and he wasn't managed properly. All they had to do is provide a moment like this at the end of the Partridge Family and they would have had two or even three more seasons. The producers were idiots. Then if he stayed in acting he could have developed more into an adult image. Instead he was a weak Elvis show after he cut his hair. What a shame. He needed a manager. He was a sitting duck afterwards and nobody would take a meeting.
He had it all... Gorgeously handsome, a voice like silk and velvet, played piano and guitar... How can you not love David Cassidy? Such a talent, forever in my heart!
I don't think there was a musical instrument that he couldn't play. Amazing, all self taught. David was amazing man. No one will ever be able to fill his shoes. David, you're dearly missed and dearly loved.
Played piano. guitar, drums, sang, wrote songs, acted. AND looked so unbelievably sexy doing it all. He was the music. It shows in his playing and his singing. He is so engrossed and the music is so saturated with his personality, light, and enthusiasm you can just see it.
I agree with you. The sad thing is two things: 1)the entertainment industry wouldn't let him shake off the teen idol image because most of them thought that's all he ever was and could be. 2) his dad's jealousy of his success and rejection of him. I think that truly drove David Cassidy to alcoholism. He truly loved his dad and he even had said the more successful he gotten the more his dad resented him. Sad!
david wrote this on his own...his masterpiece, in my opinion....you were such a genius but didn't get the credit you deserved. everyone couldn't get past your looks that caused riots!
How beautiful said and very true. He never really got the credit he deserved, but I so very much hope he did feel the love and respect from those loving his music although. Didnt know he wrote this himself! This song makes my tears fall again over his passing..
WOW, I'd never heard this one before. It's a terrible shame he got stuck in that teen idol rut in the US, but his popularity continued for a long time outside of the US. He was in Vegas for a long time, and you dont play in Vegas if you don't have real talent. I always wanted to see him.
He was just so talented! My sister and I saw him in 1972. David Cassidy, oh my goodness it was so wonderful! I can still remember all of it, my sister and I (everyone thought we were twins, but we were 15 months apart in age) were dressed in the same little white crochet dresses. We both ran down to the front of the stage and David saw us. He was singing "Cherish" and when he saw us both he smiled and threw us both a kiss. I about hit the floor right then and there and Deb just stood there transfixed. I guess our reactions tickled David, he started to laugh and lost a couple of words to the song LOL. We went back to our seats, Mom was laughing and I have NEVER forgotten that night, how I felt seeing him in person and the personal interaction my sister and I had with him. Never will either :)
Margo Mazzeo : You are welcome :) It really was a great summer that year. We also saw the Osmond Brothers twice that summer, once at the Akron Rubber Bowl and again at the Ohio State Fair. And both of those concerts were crazy with girls screaming their heads off LOL!
I've still got Cherish on a 45 RPM vinyl. I loved that song. When I was13 years old, first saw him on Partridge Family. I cut his photos from a magazine back then and stuck it on my school books. So 😍 💥💞 Australia
He can sing me the blues anytime! So beautifully sung. What a treat for us to have such a beautiful face to go with just as a beautifully matched voice. I'm in heaven too listening to this
Aaaaaamaaaaaaaziiiing!!!!!!! Had no idea 1) this song existed 2) David could sing like this 3) David could write a song like this style 4) David could play piano like this this!!!!! The arrangement and live performance of all the musicians on this is so very notable . Who is playing sax ? Tom Scott, David Sanbourne? Thrilled, awed, and giving deepest respect and gratitude for the powerhouse talent that David was. He lost his Mom, his sobriety, his performance career. I believe those things made him lose his life. I truly respect performers who sing up until the end of their lives. RIP David. A singers life brings joy to the world, but , that same life can be so isolated... Love and Mercy
Was there no end to the man's talents? Never heard this song before and never knew he could play piano. You left us way too soon, David, but will always live on in our hearts and through your music.
Why oh why has this song not been released it is awesome someone needs to get this released.., a voice and looks to die for the incredibly talented gorgeous David Cassidy forever missed xxxx
So talented...a singer with incredible range who could sing any kind of music, an actor equally adept at Comedy and drama...so heartbreaking that he left this world too soon. I keep saying to myself Mark Hamill's line from THE LAST JEDI: "No one's ever really gone." Thank you for enriching our lives, David Cassidy. RIP

We lost a very good one for sure. Can't hardly believe he is gone from us . . . Rest in Beautiful Peace, David Cassidy . . . With Love
omgosh I did not realize he played cool jazz piano so beautifully, wished he played more of this too...sophisticated, completely talented....naturally gifted. G'bless David.
Last track on his 'Gettin' It In The Street' LP, the last he did for RCA. Penned by David. Has the same feel as the tracks 'Frozen Noses' and 'Half Past Our Bedtime'. Great posting and rare to see him perform anything from the GIITS album !

David should have kept to jazz singing and music rather than go down the rockin route . Sensual vocals, smooth excellent production, ...such wonderful and beautiful youth...reminds me a bit of the Richard Clayderman type .... ever so slightly only. David is smoky mellow.

Came back! I close my eyes and I am back lying on the beach, the sun,so bright and warm! The waves softly rushing in and one or two seagulls flying by. The wind blows so softly on my face, don't want this song to end! Magic! Thanks a Million!
My first time hearing this. Didn't realize he played piano so well. This was absolutely brilliant. His falsetto almost has a Smokey Robinson quality to it. Very impressive &, no disrespect intended, very hot!
I have never heard this song beofre and think it is amazing. What a range!( and I am not talking about his oven!) He should have used the higher end of his vocal range more often ...it really sounds lovely.
Way way under recognized talent....he had it all - looks, talent and that Cassidy charm. RIP David Cassidy...you were a big part of my life even though you never knew it❣️

Eric Williams so very true. No wonder he was so sad, frustrated and disappointed with how his career/life turned out ..
I think you're forgetting that David was done with the Partridge Family. He was done with playing Keith.
in my opinion David Cassidy knew what he was good at. he's ok in this clip, I guess.
So greatful for you tube be because this vocal would be lost. 'This is proof that Cassidy is more than a pretty face, and lord knows he is that!
